I'm sorry to read that, Jet...
In our natural tendency to be providers for those we love and care sometimes we go over the top and create a financial dependency that is detrimental to the relationship or the bogger goals...
I made some of those mistakes with my kids, for instance.
The best part is that when we recognize it, we can do something about.
I cut off my daughter's credit card when I saw in the statement that she used it to give herself a $200 fancy haircut instead of the agreed purpose of paying for some of her college expenses.
Just because you took the step to initiate the visa process should not give your lady the idea that's the starting gun for her to behave like a gold digger.
I know if I was in your situation I'd have no choice but to send a clear definite message ond what what is acceptable and what isn't...(then I'd kick myself in the ass for not having done something to prevent it)
good luck
Jet
Possibly she wants to sell the apartment and needs to do it up a bit to get a better price. Although it looks weird to suddenly ask you for money to work on it now. After all she is coming to America so is Mum. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions having come this far.
While on this subject of apartments. I have been under the impression that the apartments are only theirs whilst they remain in them. My ex lady in Samara, was not able to sell her apartment but it could be transferred to her brother or another family member.
I am not suggesting JET, that this is the case with your new development, and I would agree with izi, don't overreact to this development, it is a shame we have this engraved fair of possibly been taken advantage of financially . Her situation on property ownership could be totally different to what I have witnessed.
Seems to me if she is going to come visit you there would be no need to fix up the appartment ... Good luck in sorting this out, I can emphatize with your feelings.
Latest Update to K-1 visa. Second letter received today
The INS in Nebraska now has completed their part. It is approved and the paperwork is being sent The Department of State National Visa Center (NVC) in New Hampshire. The NVC processing should be completed within 2-4 weeks. The petition will then be sent to the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Romania where Moldovan people must go for interviews for Fiance Visa. The next letter I get should be a notification letter stating that the petition was sent to the Embassy and I will also receive a new case number. I started this (Sent off paperwork) on 3/21/05. Will see how long it takes from start to finish if I do everything correctly.
Latest update- Just received a letter today from the State's Department National Visa Center in New Hampshire. They state that within a week, my petititon will be forwarded to US Embassy in Bucharest. Jenia will receive a packet with instructions from the consular section on how to apply and what other documents are required. Everything is going extremely fast I think. The only thing left will be to get the required documents and set an interview date. All paperwork is basically finished for all the offices in the US. I thought they were suppose to be S-L-O-W but not in this case. Everyone is finished here! I sent paperwork in only a little more than a month ago. Somewhere there should be a long wait but I don't know where it's happening.
Sounds good man. Hope it keeps going at this pace and smoothness. I have a good feeling for Ya !!!!
Mmm. Dont take that the wrong way. You know what I mean. I have a good feel that your relationship will work out good. Then YOU will have MANY GOOD feelings He hee heee :-)
According to the latest statistics, the Vermont Service Center is the most up-to-date in terms of processing times, followed by Nebraska, California and Texas. Texas is working on receipt dates of August, 27 2004. California is Feb 28, 2005. Vermont is March 19, 2005 and Nebraska is February 23, 2005. These are I-129F petitions as of an April 21, 2005 posting.
These are not absolutes, otherwise Dale's would not have been processed yet. I am expecting mine to be approved this week, based on statistics. We'll see if I'm right.
Some times life can be a bitch, sometimes it is wonderful. I feel with all of you waiting, and even if it seems to take forever, don't lose the hope...
I hope you guys have done whatever possible to make your women feel welcome when she arrives..
You should all:
1. Install a water fountain in your house, but make sure it only circulates vodka.
2. Make sure to have an adequate supply of "valenki", can never have too few of those.
3. Take balalaika lessons.
4. Buy "how to be successful in marriage for dummys"
5. In case KGB is watching you, it's good to always wear shades and drive in an unmarked car.
I wish you all the best of luck, and I really hope your prosess will be fast :)))
Sorry Maxi, that happens a lot to me. It comes from being an egotistical pig which my ex wife will tell you all about if you want. Actually just like you and your ex we are good friends. I am still going to church though. I haven't actually sinned right now but I am planning on sinning quite a bit in July and I thought I would make an early start on begging for forgiveness. Actually I don't give a stuff but it is better to be safe than sorry. So I will also be attending a muslim mosque and a jewish temple.
I like to practise safe religion. :)))
Oh shit now I have offended a bunch more people.
I hereby apologise to all those religious folks that I have offended. Or those who were only moderately offended or even those that weren't actually offended but know someone who was. Sorry about that. Right I am glad that is over and we can get down to the serious business of offending all those midgets out there.
