I just received a reply from a girl I had written only once, you know, just testing the waters...
I got to say either she's a scammer or she's quick in business: "I wanted to write you a long letter, but I understand that my next answer will be also with some delay and in his case
our dialogue will be incomplete. I don’t want you to suffer…that’s why I think that the best decision for us will be our
meeting in St. Petersburg... I don’t know how to open myself in front of you and how to introduce myself the best way. That’s’ why I made a decision
that we should simply meet each other in reality and our meeting will show everything. I promise you to give you maximum
of the attention during your visit.
My marriage Agency will arrange our meeting. This Agency now kindly give me the computer for the connection with you. I
ask you to give your e-mail address to my marriage Agency in order to they could send you the invitation for the getting
visa. They also will book the hotel for you. I hope that you understand me well. I will be waiting for the date of your visit. I will be sorry if you are not going
to visit Russia this year. But I want to tell you honestly that I don’t want to wait for so long. I want to have a
family as soon as possible. Please, think about my proposal regarding our meeting. I don’t want you to wait for my letters vainly. I also don’t want
any disappointments for myself too."
These are cut/paste, not the entire letter but still...
That is soooo typical of girls from St Petersburg. Everyone I came in contact with said the same thing. If you go to StP just to see one girl you are crazy. That is a place to take a tour or something.
How can an ordinary bloke spend oodles of bucks to just 'nip' over to StP without spending some time to get to know a lady with emails and phone calls first. Even then you will probably want to make multiple trips to see her.
My advice my friend is move on to someone a little more realistic. Even if you have the dough the flight is brutal and there is a work/time factor. She is being ridiculous.
Marina and I have been and are still writing to each other several times a day. Come the 9th of May it will be 6 months. This does not include a 2 week visit and I don't know how many phone calls. I go again in July when we have 8 months and I am tentatively planning another trip in November. This is a 'get to know you' process. Toad did 1.5 years before he flew to Lena and that was for about a week only. He got to know her by writing and calling. It works.
I think that St Pete is one place where an organized visit with socials is a good idea. I am not saying that girls there are not available. No I actually think that there are tons. I have a feeling that the 2 cities of St Pete and Moscow are alive with beautiful women that want to find a foreign husband. I think that the typical Russian man situation in thse two cities is acute and hence the 'hurry up' attitude. Riga can be the same I have noticed.
Dude find someone in Kiev, Odessa, Siberia or Ekaterinburg.
This isn't like popping over to Cancun or Vegas for the weekend. The flight is a monster.
Don't worry Izi, I don't plan to hop in my private jet to go sweep her off her feet overnight. I'm letting this one slide... Besides my best "prospect" if I can say is in Odessa
Hooray for you. Good luck. My alternative to Marina was in Odessa. That sounds like a fun place. All the people have a good sense of hmor there. It is a bit like Liverpool in England. Every Liverpudlian is a born comedian.
Jimmy Tarbuck, Ken Dodd......
Stp is a VERY nice city, beyond any expectations I must say, and the women there are exceptionally open and forward, but in an extremely pleasing way. In fact not only the women, everybody at least is curious if not downright hospitable.
You guys make all sound spoilt and rotten in the above. I'm sure there's the odd funny one, but 'soo typical' it is not, at least not in my opinion. I'd go back anytime, if only for a holiday.
This letter does not sound good. Luckily you are wise enough not to get the wrong impression on it.
I bet my right arm that the girl didn't know at all that this letter was sent from her name. Usually things end in seeing another "Ice Qween". Nothing more.
In general, if you are looking for the best place to visit - go to Stp, no variants. But if you are interested in a good girl, try some provincial cities.
Thunder I would have to agree with you, you can't pass judgment unless you've been there. I haven't been to St. Pete probably never will be, but the context of letter Heisa received sounds more like a sales pitch from an agency than a sincere letter from a lady from St. Pete. At least that is my take on it. I had received letters from a lady from Kiev that had the similar format to it and when I would actually, I think get a response from her, she didn't have a clue what I was talking about in the letter because much of the communication I had received from her was not from her at all, but an agency employee just trying to drum up business for the firm. I think many guys here don't realize that marriage agencies are a business and the bottom line is the profit derived.
Every letter I got from a girl in StP was when are you coming I don't want to write just meet you. Can you come next week. There were no exceptions and 2 were also very rude.
Every single one like I said that is soooo tyical of StP. Provincial is better. I think StP is somewhere you need to be not do a writing campaign.
Yeah Izi, I remember also a reply I got, from an absolutely stunning woman from Stp, and I thought it was utterly rude, in fact it made me angry.
So I ignored her for some time, I had done zero wrong. But after a while I thought bugger this, you don't play with me like this, and wrote her back. She turned out to be the nicest woman you can imagine, and she reacted the way she did because, surprise surprise, these women get loads of mail from morons, jerks, idiots, wankers, maniacs, delinquents and what have you - and these are the honest ones, not being married and looking only for a nice holiday or just playing because they're bored.
Then there's the agencies who write, to generate some revenue, and if one cannot see through this by all means he deserves it then also.
And, being a stunner, surely you can't blame most to send a template? It's your task to get through that, and THEN you'll see the real person, which I guarantee you is very different than the initial response will hint at.
My wife is from St. Pete, after reading this I guess I found the diamond in the ruff. I think St. Pete is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen.
I agree crash.
Beautiful place. I found the people in general much more friendly than any other city in Russia or Ukraine. Mind you I did spend more time there than other cities.
Even the reception staff in Hotels - Internet Café etc - far my friendly and helpful. In fact they were amazingly helpful. The men seemed a little more open minded and focused too. Not so depressed acting like other places.
Great city. Going to return one day, as a tourist only.
I'd say that St Petersburg is the most westernized city in Russia. Stroll down Nevsky Prospect and count all the KFC's, Subway's, and MacD's! Probably the most European city in Russia. It is certainly the most beuatiful too. Tough to find a good deal on a hotel near the center however. I'll go back.
Yeah, SPB! Great for people (especially women), historical architecture and monumental sightseeing. I'm just sorry I spent the winter time there and not White Nights. You cannot visit a city so dirty elsewhere...
Neon
Hotel prices are ridiculous arn't they. I stayed at the " Dostoevsky Hotel " Built late 2003. Just off Nevsky Prospect. Easy walk from the main Train terminal Still cost $149 breakfast included. All the others were $250+ Was the best deal i could find. They have a good web site. Staff were excellent, good cafés and huge shopping complex all in the same complex. Just make sure you get a room with an exterior window. Their air conditioning is useless.
any city is 'dirty', even Vienna, but only when one comes from a vliiage. Spb is not, for the simple reason that the people use rubbish bins for most but the bottles, you'll find them anywhere. The CBD is well maintained and was newly painted in 2002 due to their anniversary & festivities.
The white nights are something to experience Dream, I promise you you won't sleep a lot. Neither do the locals, it is party time per se, and a very romantice one at that.
Cheaper hotels can be found Maxi, but blocks off Nevsky, so do as the locals do - walk! Ask her, don't look on the net for them, same for apartments, because those advertising in general are more costly.
