I just returned from a short trip to Russia to visit my back up girl. Things had been going just so so with my first girl so curiosity got the best of me and I started searching for that perfect woman. I began corresponding with a woman from this site that seemed to have similar intrests with me. I visited her in her town for a few days and we spent the V-day holiday in Moscow. She is very slender and fairly attractive. Unfortunately there just was no chemistry.
The first day after I arrived she was to meet me at my hotel at 9AM, but after a few phone calls to me to tell me she would be late she arrived at 12:00. A similar thing happened the next day too. I tried to be nice and payed for all things. I could not understand how the heck this slim woman could eat three times what I did. Apparently she could not afford to eat in such nice restaurants so often and wanted to take full advantage of the situation. I would love to see what this slender woman looks like after a few years in the US with our abundant junk food.
Her English was pretty good, and she really knew how to use those three little words men are waiting to hear..."Buy for me", and she was also proficient with "I want" and "it's not enough". She seemed very interested in learning how much money Americans make, and asked me a couple of times how much money I make!! She also seemed rather cool and distant....not really interested in holding hands and prefering kisses only on the cheek.
I did have a great time in Moscow with her before and during the V-day celebration. We stayed in a hotel next to Red Square and were able to take in most of the celebration thanks to a Rossija Hotel pass and some smooth talking on her part. I have never seen such security! Police and miltary were every 10 or 15 feet everywhere near our hotel and in the area around Red Square and most of the city center. Did get to watch the parade from the south end of Red Square. That is something I will never forget.
When we said our good bye at the airport there were no tears. It was more like saying good bye to your sister. I blame myself for part of this mistake. Perhaps I did not ask the right questions in our correspondance. Perhaps I should have realized by our phone calls where I was usually the only one talking. Perhaps she was just curious and wanted to meet a foreigner. She was a nice enough girl, but sometimes there is no chemistry.
I have been there Neon... Yes, sometimes there is no chemistry at all.. It doesn't matter how beautiful the lady is, how nice she is or how clever she is... Nope.. nada.. Niet.. Nothing... We just find ourself at two different levels.. There are no connection at all.. No sexual tension... The spark just ain't there... gone..
This have to be the hardest thing about the way we have choosed to find our princess. We write them for a while, we feel this could be it, then there is a meeting, and... nothing.. there is just nothing there... She's just not interested, or you could be feeling that way.. ALready the first hour or so you feel it, there is nothing special there at all to build on.. She is beautiful alright, but are you looking only for something to show off go buy a painting or something instead, much cheaper.. and if you are lucky the value can grow to be unbelievable...
Neon, just a question, when you found out there was nothing, why didn't you tell her you didn't feel much, and used the time to meet someone else? You could be like me, to polite to do that.. I feel I am sort of a guest, and isn't it rude to tell your host that you don't feel comfortable and want out?
I had info about some of the agencies in her town in case things didn't work out, but I hoped at first that feelings would develop and decided to give it a few days. And of course like you I was trying to be polite and thought it would be rude to blow her off very quickly. I had promised her a trip to Moscow and felt obligated to keep my promise. It was a nice time, but not a romantic trip.

The Hotel Rossijia - I thought they demolished it late last year. Unless I am confused with another. The one I am thinking of is behind the Red Square, huge and like a big apartment block ?
Sounds like you witnessed a good occasion. Not surprised with the security.
Yes, the hotel is still there and has a great location and some of the best rates in all of Moscow. Many rooms were renovated some years ago and are very good. This time I did make the mistake of trying the older, and a little cheaper, non renovated rooms. They were fine except the bath rooms are not very nice. I paid $88 per night and figured that was very good for Moscow during the holiday time. I have paid as little as $67 for a renovated room during the winter.
Funny but one of my Moscow tour books listed good rates in the center for the Intourist and Moscow hotels, but when I looked for them the previous time I was there they were both demolished and new, probably high priced hotels were being built in there place. I did ask at Rossijia if they would be closing soon for demolition and the staff said not for a few years at least.
I was thinking about you while I was spending time at the Sheremetevo airport. If you have a long layover I suggest you spend most of it SVO2, the new airport. And check out the restaurant on the 5th floor. Until this week I didn't even know that airport had a 5th floor. To get there you must use the elevator (a little hard to find) as the escaltors only go to the 2nd floor. The restaurant has a great view of the runways and SVO1, a nice bar, and billard tables. And not so crowded also.
Also I found a couple of places to exchange money in the airport and the bank on the opposite end of where you enter after retrieving your bags had very good rates. I had always exchanged money just to the left of where you enter the main area of the airport, and of course they have tha worst rates.
Duly noted and will be acted on. I have 5 hours to kill in Moscow between flights. Should be meeting up with ID. I have to get to SVO1 though tbecause that is where the sodding flight to Eburg is. So I guess I will be spending the bulk of my time there. I don't want Mr Cockup to come calling.
10 minutes to SVO1 including waiting for the bus. Don't be in too big a hurry as they will not check your bag and let you upstairs into the gate area until less than 2 hours before your flight leaves. Not nearly as nice a terminal as SVO2.
Excellent advice thank you Neon. I will do as you say especially as being as I am arriving 1 hour before ID so I will go get him from his flight and we will drink some 'coffee'.
Have a good time. I just looked and I'll be at SVO2 June 9 with a 5 hour layover until my flight out of SVO1. I'm using Delta's new flight out of Atlanta which arrives an hour earlier than their flight out of New York. Guess I need to take my own advice on this one.
