After a year of corresponding with deferent women, I decided to quit talking and start doing. I have booked a trip to Sevastopol, Ukraine for September 9th, 2005. I have only been corresponding with this one girl for about six weeks. She seems real cool, so I said why not. You know the old saying “No Balls, No Babies.” The only question is I have never met anyone who has been there. Is there anyone out there that can give me pointers on my first trip? The girl made arrangements for me to stay at apartment at a $100.00 a night. Also she arranged for an interpreter for several hours at a price of $15 an hour. Do these prices seem reasonable? Any and all help will be deeply appreciated.
Good for you for booking a trip. Writing letters for months and months can be a big waste of time.
I have not been to Sevastopol, but unless the prices there are far more expensive than other parts of Ukraine and Russia, it sounds like you are being overcharged.
Apartments that I have used throughout the FSU ranged from $25-$80/night. In Moscow, which is one of the most expensive cities on the planet, I think I paid $60 or $70/night. September is not the high season in Sevastopol and prices should be lower than in the summer. Do a google search on "apartments sevastopol" and you should find several places that rent apartments for less.
Interpreter services for $15/hr also sounds high. Usually interpreters range from $5-$8/hr or $50/day.
I'm not suggesting your lady is a scammer; but I hope you haven't sent any money to her. A while back I ran into a scammer who said she had found a great apartment for me but needed me to send the money for the apartment to her, so she could pay for it. I later found her on a black list.
The other thing I would suggest is to have a backup plan. Contact a local agency in Sevastopol before your trip and see what you need to do to set up meetings with other girls in case things don't work out with your lady.
I'm not trying to discourage you, just want you to keep your eyes open.
make search on google, apartments ion ukraine, apartments ins evastopol. you wil find a lot of offers. choose it yourself. usualy small reservation is required. translator is 8$ per hour is normla. some popel will charge you $15. do not send money in advance. have a back up plan.

you will see real prices for nice apartments. see if they work in Sevastopol, they have worked in kiev for us before. they aslo provide airport pickup, tours, guide intepreters. they can even take you to local agencies if you need it.
I am sorry, but this sound as a scam to me... You know this is also a way to scam people.. they get you to hire expensive places, they have their "own" taxidriver, interpretor, restaurants and so on.. and the girls get a share of what you pay...
i hope I am wrong.. but this was just too expensive...
Whoa, Nellie, who said Crimea was cheap? You can probably find interpreters for a little less, but as you start getting closer to Yalta and simferopol the price of doing business goes up. Also this is a more popular time of the year to travel Crimea, beautiful weather, I hope work not withstanding, I will go back there in a couple of weeks.
Guys, I envy this guy! Sevastopol is my favourite city and in September and October it is the best time to visit it. It is the Velvet Season guys! Who tells of prices going down? Come back in November and they will be really normal. Still, Dem, stay at a hotel and it gonna save you a lot, apartments can be found for 35-50$ there but they are really hard to find. 100$ is absolutely unreasonable and if a girl is serious in you she would never even propose this. 15$ for an interpreter - a big nonsense. 5-8$ and a they will be happy.
be careful with this chick she doesn't seem to honest.
This summer we were very near the Sevastopol, but we didn't make going there, unfortunately.
As for Crimea, my grandmother and grandfather live there, yes the prices in winter go down a little bit, but they are still high, I would even say a little bit higher then here. OK, I'm speaking about Feodosiya, and I'm not sure how it is on the rest of Crimea...
But I know that this year the prices are much higher. We had a room at the private boarding house, and we paid 44 $ per 24 hours. We lived rather close to the sea:) But food was rather expensive, and this is why we didn't eat at the boarding house, but we found a cafe with a very tasty food for reasonable prices, for example complete dinner (2 courses + mineral water or juice) it costed 2$ for 1 person.
Hi Guys I have found your notice board,
I live in Sevastopol, been here for the last couple of years now,so I guess I know the place as good as anyone,
I have a couple of apartments in the centre which I have renovated myself, and I rent out , air conditioned, washing machines,DVD players etc, from $25 a night in winter and $40 in Summer the longer you stay the cheaper it is,
I also know some translater for about $5 maybe a little bit more if you need them,

John, don't compare Vitebsk and Sevastopol!:-) here I've ben renting a two-bedroom apartment for 80$ a month once. In Sevastopol the same apartment can cost 80$ a day easily. This is a resort.
I can rember not so long ago you couldrent a 2 room apartment in Sevastopol for $80 a month, now they are about $150 - $250, but they are proerbly not the type of apartment you would be comfortable with and know where near the centre, and these prices are when you rent for 6 months or maybe a year at a time
Chris. You misread, I live in Vitebsk. I know that even in winter a one-bedroom apartment is around 100$ a month and not the kind of apartments you offer. My regards, most look quite pleasant and the prices are reasonable.
The price of apartments, like anything, depends on supply and demand. In Kiev there are so many available apartments they are available for USD50 a night or so, in a city like Zaporozhye you will pay more than this simply because the same volume of apartments are not available.
As has been suggested, do a search for apartments in Crimea, check the going rate to establish if you are being scammed or not.
In the old days, and today, the favourite scams were correspondence expenses and the ticket & visa bullshit. Nowdays, not to be typecast, another scam is 'oh, I hve a friend with an apartment, you'll get a special deal but you need to send money in advance'.
I'm not suggeting Dem's lady is a scammer but the going rate for an interpreter is USD8 or perhaps EUR8 per hour, my wife is an interpreter so I should know! And without checking on Google, USD100 for an apartment does sound a little steep.
Dem, might I ask on which site you met the lady and have you done a Google search on her full name and/or first name followed by Sevastopol?
And for focks sake, don't make any advance payments.
Its too much..you should not pay more than $50 usd a night..you are not renting an apartment on Kreshkyatic Street (Central Kiev) and these can be had for $1200 usd a month!
Interpreters are no more than $% to $8 usd an hour.
The girl sounds fishy.
6 weeks is not long enough to write to her and justify a trip.
Have you made personal telephone calls to her, got pictures of her, did a Google search on her, traced her IP address on her e-mails to see if she is actaully sending from the place where she claims to live, checked anti-sites for her name, googled her e-mail adress..lots of things you can do to check her out.
I think you are jumping the gun and not looking before leaping and you will get financially burnt if you don't investigate her properly.
Alarm bells are already ringing in me over the prices she has quoted you for an apartment and an interpreter.
DO NOT SEND ANY GIRL YOU HAVE NEVER PERSONALLY MEET ANY MONEY..JUST DON'T DO IT..SHOULD BE THE ELEVENTH COMMANDMENT!
DO ALL YOUR OWN ACCOMODATION AND TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS AND NEVER TRUST A GIRL YOU HAVE NEVER PERSONALLY MEET TO DO THIS..ITS STUPIDITY TO TRUST THEM BEFOREHAND!
I have grave concerns about what is happenning and some of the shit advice coming out of this forum..you don't rush and get your ass on the plane..you do a proper investigation and background check of the girl first because there is too much at stake and why put yourself in a position where you will get burnt and then come running home, crying to Momma because you decided to not to think it out nad be stupid instead!
I cant be anymore frank than that!
aussieman41, read forum before accusing all of us here. nobody gave "a shit advice" here. if somebody did, post link to his post. everybody have been saying exactly what you just repeated.
Aussieman,
Whilst you might be in a remote location from Crimea I have, previously, met many a lady after perhaps 2 months. If he's been writing for 6 weeks then that's about the right time, for a guy with serious intent, to start making moves.
Do you think, believe, that these ladies only write to one guy, of course they don't and it will be 'he who dares wins' that gets his lady.
You can sit behind your keyboard and write as many letters, make as many phone calls, as you like but you'll always be at the back of the queue. Don't critise a guy for daring to get on an aeroplane, just give him constructive advice before he does it.
Your post is crap, you ask if he has got pictures of her, are you for real aussieman? 6 weeks is adequate time to justify a trip, you stay behind your keyboard aussieman. 'investigate her', yes, you're a real romantic aren't you aussieman? And, the so-called 'SHIT' advice that you proclaim from others has similar veins to your same 'SHIT' advice, google searches etc. We've already been there aussieman, you stay at home with your keyboard whilst your momma makes your tea, let those that know offer 'constructive' advice and as Olga points, try reading the 'shit' before you start talking 'shit'.
