And I have to be careful now to not step on anyones toe..
It all went great, we are planning all the details. When to move, how to move, what to move and so on. I really look forward to have her here with me to start the future together!
I think that will have to do... Too scared to tell you all the details... lol
WTF??? This world wont last till easter... Here I was preparing for something really nasty, and all I got was a wish for good luck... Thank you Annika! I have told you I know you can be sweet ;))
Actually, Jet as specialist in FSU countries, have you read book "Molvania"?
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1585676195/104-510 3859-6077504?v=glance
Annika:
I bought that book, "Molvania" but certainly NOT from amazon.com.
It is quite funny and there ARE references in it that seem to be drawn fron Moldova - not as many as the title would suggest.
The book describes fictional Molvania as "One of the five Baltic nations." Hmmmmm.....
I bought the book usig the same method I ALWAYS use to buy books online and I suggest it to anyone living in the US. Its www.campusi.com - they check (I think) EIGHTY on line book seller to get the lowest price and you can find virtually anything.
Amazon.com lists the book at $13.95 and discounts it to $11.16 (plus postage of course in all cases).
I was able to buy it at $1.65 through www.campusi.com.
While I know it goes against Annika's grain to "look for the cheapest" (kind of why I am pointing it out) - some of the rest of you might be interested.
I read in in estonian and my boyfriend bought it when he was in USA, no idea how much he payed, but he liked it!
I think even funnier than description of Molvania-Moldova is that book makes fun of professional travellers and travel guides. My favourite parts in that book are notes : We made mistake!
Careful Annika. Though the book clearly has a title that SOUNDS like Moldova - that is the ONLY thing specific about Moldova in it. Its really about a composite fictional Eastern European Country. There are maps, etc. that show the country has no geographic similarity to Moldova at ALL.
In fact, as i mentioned above, supposedly Molvania is a BALTIC COUNTRY,
Yes its fictional, but its makes fun of such countries as Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria, maybe Slovakkia (gypsy problem)) and general soviet attitude, especially in enviroment! Practically you can take what ever country(ies) and make total geografical and political mess. Actually Im waiting then they take Finland and Estonia or Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia-and make horrible book:)
What about Molvania being Baltic country, its funny:)
As you probably have noticed I am not much around here anymore. I am just too busy... Doing all the arrangements to make everything in order till she come here! She will be here in the beginning of December.. Wish you all the best.. Sort of miss you...
To Annika and others that have an interest in knowing...
I read your post just before my last thread was deleted, and your question was how my girl was adapting here...
Well, she is doing just great. There are of course some small difficulties regarding the language. It is hard for her to get a job that she like without speaking our language, but she is learning and doing so impressively fast!
She like it here very much, but of course she miss her family, I guess that is normal...
She is in school learning Norwegian every day, so she is busy and not bored at home. We do things together every evening and are having fun together. Tomorrow we are going to visit Norways largest swimhall. Today we have been in Åre and been skiing in the Alpine world cup hills. So our days are litterally flying... Sunday we will go bowling... And next week we will buy her a car :) (She is looking forward to that...)
Glad to hear all is going well with you. In a couple of short weeks I will be going through what you are doing now. I don't know about bowling, but that's pretty funny the last time I was in Mariupol Larisa wanted to go bowling. Larisa's English is pretty good, but I have also found a couple of schools for her here. She want's to become fluent and some of my customers that have contacts in Europe asked me if she would be interested in working for them. Prospects are good for her. Though her first occupation will be decorating our house that I have totally gutted and remodeled to her specifications, with the exception of the outside work. Needless to say, we will spend a lot of time looking for furniture a new kitchen and the like.
Thank God, I'm tired of sleeping on a couch and living basically in one room.
Also eating drywall dust has been a pain in the butt.
Thanks NOR, what about food? Does she miss estonian black bread and youghurt?
I personally
like brits a lot and Liverpool people are friendliest in UK, but I had real cultural crash in christmas time to find out how cold and damp are british houses. They heated only some hours a day even when degrees are below 0! Chimney is nice in livingroom but...You always find out strange things about foregn country what arent written in any book. Other strange thing in UK is that couple have common family account, sometimes even before marriage. I asked several people in Estonia and nobody didnt found its reasonable and every member of family had own bank account. Maybe its some sort of anglosaxon thing?????
I am so happy to hear that! To find a school is a very good idea, that way they will also find some new friends. Right now while I am typing this my woman is having an evening together with 4 other girls, two from Germany, one from Canada and one girl from Poland. It is so nice for her, and even if she was a little unsecure to leave me she just wrote me an sms and told me she had a lot of fun, and that I also can expect some fun when she is returning home.. lol
About decorating and remoddeling houses.. I can perfectly understand you are sick and tired of living like that, I did that 3 years ago, and I know I will have to do it again two years from now... We have been talking about building a new house but time will show. First I have to finish my business here in Trondheim, then get home south where I belong.. But, it is great fun to sit down and look at the final result.. I remember I had this guy over to make a me a fireplace some years ago. We made it without any drawings/templates, and this guy just built the fireplace from my instructions. I believe I was sitting for at least 3 hours and looked at it, satisfied! It was a great feeling to see it finished.
