Mike,
It's all very well saying, to the effect, 'bravo' but what might the longer term consequences be of such bravado to the individual(s) concerned? Laws are in place to be bent but not to be totally disregarded, if one breaks a rule then that individual may spoil it for all who follow.
Not wishing to enter in to politics but the guys responsible for 9/11 disrespected US laws, unlike over here as you say, so do I hear you saying 'congrats' to those guys also or is there one law for one and another law for others?
I'm sure those guys would have had a great story for the grandkids also had they survived and, as you say, you don't respect laws in the US and I only mention 9/11 because I am in the process of sending some guys for pilot training in Florida and US immigration regulations are very uppermost in my thoughts at the moment.
You can say what you what Mike, you can try to glamorise it also, but cheating the rules she or he is :)
I agree with Martin actually. she came to work, if she doesn't want to do it she should leave and get fiance visa. also as far as I know people on J1 visa can stay another month or two after work is over. at least pool guards in our area -stufdents from Russia, will have one month after work is done to travel in US and have fun. they also are free to do what they want after 9 p.m. anyway lawer should explain what can and can not be done.
Hiii98,
Why would I ask you ask, well let me try and explain such a scenario, I'm not saying it is your scenario, to you:
A guy meets a lady in and from Ukraine, on the face of it they get on really well and whilst she says all the right things there are just one or two warning signs of troubled times ahead.
Now the guy, he believes he has very deep feelings for this lady and although he has known her for only a relatively short time he is besotted by her and despite these warning signs he believes they are destined to spend the rest of their lives together and he turns a blind eye to these warning signs.
They agree to become married thus the guy begins to think and make preparations for her fiancee visa but hold on just one minute, before he can say 'jack shit' this lady, the lady he believes to be his angel, suddenly arrives in USA under a false ptetence of working and calls him to say, to the effect, 'Hi it's me, you have a problem'.
Now this guy, besotted by his angel, cannot see the warning signs that are multiplying daily, he believes that this is the only lady for him and he simply doesn't realise, he's blinded by her, that this lady could drop him seriously in the shit with the authorities and possibly jeopardise him ever inviting another lady to USA if and/or when this so called angel dumps him if she's not deported first.
Now he finds himself in the situation whereas he is digging a deeper hole for himself each day, she's costing him much money because, as she convinces him, it's his problem, he's totally stressed out and believes this lady feels so much for him that he has lost all sense of reality.
This lady would, if she were an angel and were of a trustworthy character, not have arrived in USA and tried to stay illegally, she would have waited patiently, like everybody else does, for the legal formalities to be completed and then the two of them could live happily ever after without fear of the law or the authorities knocking on their door.
Such a lady brings trouble in the short term and, having it in her nature, will bring bigger trouble in the long term, if she doesn't listen to the authorities then she not going to listen to anybody including her husband because she believes that she knows best.
Hiii, the reason I asked if 'we' or 'you' had hired the lawyer was somewhat significant, you said 'we' but in fact, and admit it, you and you alone have hired a lawyer and one day, perhaps, you'll return here to say, to the effect, 'Why didn't I listen, that lady cost me money and big trouble and I should have seen the writing on the wall'.
You are talking about a country that has a President and a Senate that is trying to give 13 million Hispanics amnesty for, first violating our immigration laws to come here, then violating our laws to work here, and in a lot of cases violate state laws by driving without a license. So…I ask you...when the chief law enforcement officer (the President) and the law makers themselves do not respect the laws…why should the rest of us. Hmmmm?
Bill,
I live in a country where illegals arrive through the tunnel under the English Channel and are treated quite well upon their arrival.
But, try to bring an FSU lady in on an incorrect visa, all hell breaks loose!
I wasn't suggesting that hiii adopts an attitude of that of the president or law makers, after all he's not going to be living with them, but he does need to take a serious reality check regarding the person that he intends, he hopes, to be living with.
It's not a matter of right or wrong, it's a matter of attitude :)
My friends in the same situation choose to work all summer in the camp in order not to have trouble with immigration office. Her situation was also horrible – the camp was for disable kids and she did had a really hard time.
