The truth is this: really good looking girls are paid by agencies for their "image" (to attract the fish), you pay for mails they don't even read and for the translation of "their" answers. Then you go there to meet them and you pay again the agency to organize you staying and the meetings. At the meetings you pay for an interpreter they MIGHT not even need (think about this one...) and for food and wine for both. Some of them MIGHT also have an agreement with the restaurants that makes them get part of the money you pay (think about this again, did it ever happen, for example, that you pay but she keeps the receipt?)...
I know i am probably going to get roasted by some of you and i dont really know why i am writing but i guess its just to share experience.
I have tried to find a suitable partner since about 2005, but not continually of course!
I think it is true to say that most of the dating sites are a scam in some way, but lets face it, why are we here. Generally speaking it is because we have failed to find that person in our own country. If you look at the profile of most of the men, they are divorced, so they have failed at least once already. So all of a sudden do we really think we can win a woman from a foreign country who often cannot speak good English with our charm that has previously failed. So, how many men are really that serious? If the men were truly serious then why not first of all go to the Ukraine or Russia and see/meet your future partner. Letter writing generally not very satisfactory and chatting a total waste of time and money. The young girls on Dream-Marriage are paid to talk, but does not neceasarily mean it is a scam, merely a form of entertainment. Afterall, if we are stupid enough or desperate enough we are in fact contributing to the scam/entertainment.
I have travelled to several cities in Russia and Ukraine and have in fact met three or four very nice women but after a few weeks i knew i was not right for them, rather than the other way around.(i should mention i am retired). In 2006 i returned to Odessa for a holiday (true!). In Fidel's i met some quite ignorant western men (mostly Americans) who thought that treating a girl properly was to buy her a pair of cheap shoes from the 7 mile bazaar. They were there for the weekend only....one was an A.F.A. tour which included an old man in a wheel chair. Did they really expect to meet the girl of their dreams in 48 hours...one American paid US$100.00 for a girl and took photos, sadly he was proud of himself!
I think what i am trying to say is, we are our own worst enemies. First of all go to the country, decide whether you like what you see and most importantly behave like gentlemen. Perhaps, just perhaps this will change the attitiude of the women and the outlook of the men
So g are you saying that there are a whole herd of men headed for the FSU with poor relationship skills who have just escaped a marriage with the vilest woman in the world who single handedly ruined their marriage? And they believe they are God's gift to one or all FSU women who will obviously enjoy the rest of their life where the Western woman did not.
I guess I would pretty much agree with that but I would add that this herd of men is probably only about 5% of the number writing to FSU women. Whether it was a blessing or a curse the other 95% did not make it to the airplane and some of these even continue to explain the reality of the FSU which they have never seen to other perspective relationship seekers.
Does it make you wonder why the FSU ladies are skeptical.
I find it amazing the most of the successful Americans that I know have due diligence and class and have found some incredible ladies. We didn't need to be educated on being a gentleman. We don't use money to buy women, hell we don't promise them anything but what's important in life. I'm sure you've met some ignorant people, hell you just have to look at some of the posts here and you can get a cross section of ignorance without even stepping on the plane.

These are the Red Flags of a GCG. Although some maybe false positives with your lady they are still Red Flags for others in that they need to take a closer look. Also some of these Red Flags are for GCG wives and not just potential wives.
She is in a rush to get you to the altar especially if it is in the FSU.
She is in a hurry to get her immigration documents filed as soon as possible.
You enter the room and she quickly shuts down windows on her PC.
Her RW friends for some reason do not like you and show it.
She gets drunk on peva everynight right before bedtime.
She does not ask when you are going to come visit her again.
She seems irritated when you call her at times not previously agreed upon.
She will not discuss her past with you or sparingly so.
She does not introduce you to her best friend or certain members of her family.
Her agency "friends" are always making themselves useful to you two for no visable compensation.
You hear her say the word "document" all the time when she speaks Russian on the phone with her "friends".
She doesn't turn and look back when you are leaving on a train or in line at a airport terminal.
Her mother looks like she feels sorry for you.
She keeps photos of her previous marriage in a safe place or wears the wedding ring given to her by ex-husband.
She asks you to keep yourself secret from others in Russia.
She fails to tell you how she spends the money you send her.
She will not discuss having children with you and is very, very careful with birth control.
She keeps her previous husband's last name to supposedly match her childs.
When you take photos of her in a group setting everyone looks at the camera but she looks away wearing a plastic smile.
The agency translator(s) send encouraging e-mails telling of her love for you while you are uncertain.
She suggest meeting someplace that is not her home city.
She is vauge about exactly what she does at her job.
Some of her stories about her past dont add up.
She tells you something important about herself after you have made a commitment such as travel to meet her, engagement, filing the immigration petition or entering your country.
She appeals to your White Night nature to protect her and rescue her from her conditions.
She makes no effort to do long term projects with you such as start a family business or teach you Russian.
dcv.. you could be right that is a slight giveaway.
In one of my meetings with a lady in odessa I carried a small dictaphone in my pocket. This secretly recorded her conversations in Russian with her lady friend when we all met up at a cafe.
I had no idea what she was saying to her but upon return home to Ireland I have a friend in England that is fluent in Russian language-he translated the tape for me.and I even got a second confirmation re translation-from another Russian speaker in u.k.
This was a REAL shocker to me.There was some derogatory comments about me on it -the truth was out.The signs red flags were there. That was it .I ENDED THAT relationship.
I have only been to kiev twice so not sure what ladies in other cities in ukraine are like. But the ones I met up with were very nice but they do seem to take offence to innocent words or are ready interpret things the wrong way.
Agree with jack that is a great idea with the tape recorder-it can be frustrating when these people start talking to their friends and you just do not know what they are saying about you.
