Whether Mary Magdalene was a prostitute or whatever, has little to do with any arguement.
The bible almost never uses the word prostitute.
For the record she was discribed as a sinner, having many sins and many evil spirits.
She first appeared in Lukes Gospel in 7:37, not 8:1 as you state.
Thanks, Clifford, for being about the only one to even remotely address my question. I have been involved with Fiance.com for only one month but have exchanged emails with dozens of FSU ladies hoping to find some semblance of spiritual compatibility. It has become apparent to me that, at least with these ladies, their brand of Christianity is not unlike that of many folks in America who know little to nothing about biblical revelation. Very few attend church or read the Bible and most think of church as merely a religious act that has nothing to do with a genuine expression of worship and relationship with God. Their moral compass is relatively liberal and guided primarily by heart-felt inclinations which may or may not parallel New Testament revelation in particular. This is no slam mind you; I was in the same boat for the first many years after receiving Christ as LORD and Savior. I now realize that when left to my subjective feelings, although they be genuine, I am often times off of the biblical mark. I write this only to make the point that it doesn't seem like there are many, if any, Evangelical FSU women on Fiance.com with whom I might be spiritually compatible. I was just probing for more information and potential resources.
As for all of the other tangential comments, I would sincerely enjoy tackling these objections or at least offering a reasonable defense from an Evangelical perspective (1 Peter 3:15). Unfortunately, Forum is not the forum for philosphical judo. Anyone who is interested may reach me through the "Contact Us" page on my website www.sharetheson.org. Peace, Mike
since you have a lot time in your hand to read, why dont you get of hold of the bible and study it and don't just read between the lines when I say study it you cross reference it to different text books. and read it with an open mind.
and my i suggest to get with somebody who already red the bible and study it.
The original question was about finding someone that was like minded. Many of you have turned this into a forum to preach from your own pulpit. Now who are the religious ones? Re-read the original question and if you have an answer for the man, then help the guy out.
I would think the guy would have much more chance, of finding a like minded person, if he tried his local church.
I know it takes a big leap of faith to imagine such a possibility.
Do you know that russian orthodox bible is written in ancient languge?
Do you know that orthodox religious is absolutly differnt from your babtist church? You do not need to go to church or study bible regulary in order to be a christian in russia. You can prey at home - that is enougth.
I go to church every wednesday - but it does not mean that I am more religuse then people who nether go to church. All is in your head - not in some other place like church.
Religion is nothing more than organised superstition, and the main one, Christianity is just bastardised Judaism, look at what the pope wears on his bonce, hardly original!
