Two songs that I love, that capture my passion for finding my beautiful partner in this world:
"Whole Wide World" by Wreckless Eric
When I was a young boy
My mama said to me
There's only one girl in the world for you
And she probably lives in Tahiti
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Just to find her
Or maybe she's in the Bahamas
Where the Carribean sea is blue
Weeping in a tropical moonlit night
Because nobody's told her 'bout you
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Find out where they hide her
Why am I hanging around in the rain out here
Trying to pick up a girl
Why are my eyes filling up with these lonely tears
When there're girls all over the world
Is she lying on a tropical beach somewhere
Underneath the tropical sun
Pining away in a heatwave there
Hoping that I won't be long
I should be lying on that sun-soaked beach with her
Caressing her warm brown skin
And then in a year or maybe not quite
We'll be sharing the same next of kin
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Find out where they hide her
When he meets his Eurotrash Girl - no doubt he will say:
"I love to travel, to see this world we share-- and I have been reading about Eurotrash. To tell you the truth, I hope to meet the woman that will be tremendously special for me-- but I will also be able to see someplace very new for me, and learn more about trash. Even more important, I will learn a little about angels and black, and I can hope we will both be very lucky and find what we are looking for~~"

The forums are a constant source of interesting and sometimes conflicting info...the song "eurotrash girl always struck me as a song of praise for
hipster, slacker, punk rock, anarchy girls and nothing more...
I spent 12 years in the US Navy, I visited many places in Europe, I was in a shipyard in Newcastle upon Tyne, I was in Denmark, Germany, and in Norway. I visited Spain, Italy and Portugal, I had a girl in most ports, I never found any trashy ones, and I had sex when I wanted to, I never had any problems with STD. My only problem that way was in NYC. Trashy is a term that I would use sparingly. I believe that scammer and other words could be used instead.
That is so much it! After the first couple of posts, I thought for sure this thread would completely miss, and nobody on this list would have any idea what was meant, and it would be useless to try and defend or explain. (How can you defend the word ‘trash’ when referring to a person, and try to explain that in this context, it isn’t being used derogatorily? Who is going to buy that?)
A song of a guy searching for the same as him— his girl. I mean, he could have said any word— but if you take the song and have him searching for his “euro flower girl” it is boring as all hell.
And that’s what makes the song! The conflict between the doubtless negative word and the fact that he is trying to find it! The incongruity and inappropriateness of referring to someone this way, juxtaposed with the fact that he searches for her as his Ideal!
Searching for his “punk rock girl” (to choose one of your examples, and also lift lyrics from a Dead Milkmen song) is so great.
The fact that he goes through all variety of madness, searching the world over, looking for his girl— the one that is right for him—
The one that is as crazy as him; the one that will see the world similar to him.
Searching for something most don’t understand, and in fact reject-- but is so right for him.
It is not even what I search for! As I know the term, it isn’t what I’m looking for— but I love that he goes so far, searches this world, searches out his woman, searches out what is right for him.
