I recently thought of the idea myself - but only as holiday. I figured that considering less than 10% of US citizens have a passport and people in US have less than 15 days holiday (as supposed to 30-50 in Eastern Europe where u and I live) and considering it takes so long to fly to Europe then these girls, at least some of them, must be intrigued by this "Exotic, well travelled and knowledgeable type" as supposed to the "smart educated type from upper cats of India" or "big hunky well endowed carribean type" or "educated middle class of jewish origin type" etc.
There are as many nationalities, possibly more, in the USA than in central London, so u might meet a Lebanese/Arab mixture or a Costa Rican/Dutch mixture etc. Racial mixtures make very beautiful women, so give it a go.
But to live in the USA no way. Standard of living is far too low and besides education at school and university (other than the top ones) lags well behind those of Cambridge (UK), Sorbonee(France), Trinity (Ireland) or Louvain la Nouvele (Belgium) and others in the EU. So chances of finding anyone in the USA who has an inkling of culture and knowledge (other than their microscipic universe) is like finding a needle in a hay stack.
Dont get me wrong - I have met many cultured, friendly, educated US nationals living and working abroad who lived in 10+ countries for over 20 years and they agree with the above statement - which is why u only see them when they go home for a month or so to see family and friends.
An English engineer guy came up to me at the bar yesterday offering me a job saying that the country is the land of opportunity like the USA was before. The land is Romania, where salaries are easing up to EU levels in several sectors. So aside from the political party fights in Romania and the Romianian/Ukrainian xenophia (both ways) why go to the US when u can earn 100,000 usd or more a year in the country next door to u?
Wrong place to ask. If we knew how the hell to deal with them we surely wouldn't be here. Second I have better things to do than deal with them. And don't call us from the airport and tell use you need 780USD dollars because your visa isn't correct. Maybe HBJ can help you out on this.
Beanstobe put down the crack pipe. There's Plenty of culture in the US. Our Standard of living is two Low? Really? I was so impressed with Paris I couldn't wait to leave that hell hole. I saw as much smog in Paris as I have seen in LA. Our standard of living, hell our poor who are lazy and mostly useless live better than many in Eastern Europe and they don't have to work for it. AS for education, Try MIT, Rose Hulman, Notre Dame, Dartmouth, Yale, Harvard, Northwestern. Yep you heard that from the expatriates who have lived in this country and they thinks it's vogue to hammer the place they used to live it. It makes them stylish with his new buddies in the EU. Remember one man's culture is another mans boredom.
I love when the Erudite Europeans, come to lecture us on culture. You have little knowledge of real americans except the one's you see on your boob tube each night and the misfits that have left this country in search of their innerselves. What's cultured? Attending plays, Reading Hegel or Machiavelli. Sitting at home at night Listening to Ravels Bolero.
Learning to study to play guitar Like Andres Segovia? Or trying to reach the moon, breaking the speed of sound, first to fly, inventing a mechanical heart, or re attaching limbs to our bodies. Damn I forgot what a bunch of uncultured heathens we really are. Funny thing Americans can do both without shame, we can live and work in the world of the extremely cultured, and at night roll up our sleeves and get greasy and dirty. Yep, I love the European sneer at US cowboys. LOL
I would suggest visiting any Wal-Mart upon your visit to the USA. There are many nice single checkout girls there who work part-time. If you don't mind helping raise someone else's kids, I'd say give it a try!
I don't have any axe to grind here because I don't live in the USA, have never lived there (Long term) and don't intend to in the near to medium future. BUT My God man you have a serious dose of "Euro Head Up Arse Flu" if you really believe some of what you wrote. If you want culture, far in front of anything you'll find in most of Europe, then I suggest you just pay one short visit to Boston. 'Nuff said on that point.
Education, Hmmmmmmm why is it that Euros need to up their levels to practice their various professions when they move to the USA and BTW there is still a lot more Euros going that way than USA citizens going the other way. Logic suggest something?
Standard of living on average is so far in front of Europe that it doesn't bare mention.
Just one point for you to ponder. The USA economy alone, even in it's now not the best state, is still greater then the entire EU economy and further, it is still actually growing whilst the EU economy is regressing.(All be it very slightly)
Sorry sunshine, but a goodly number of Euros, all too often are trying to live on dreams of past glories which no longer exist and in fact havn't generally existed since the last world war.
I'm sitting on the outside here, but I have spent a good deal of time on both continents and really I think you don't know enough to have any understanding of just how ridiculous and off beat your comments are.
I don't have a problem with your promoting Romania, I like the place and also think it has huge economic opportunities, but if you want to compare anything about it to the USA, wait about 50 years first, maybe a bit longer.
I addition to I/O comments, I can only speak of what I know. California has the 5th largest economy in the World, has a pop of over 30 million people and is home to Silicone Valley( birthplace of technology. For being part of a country with low standard of living has an average pay of $18 an hour and average price of homes nearing $600,000. USA is still the land of opportunity for all people. By the way, Beanstrobe, do you happen to use a cell phone... THANK YOU!!!! Oh did I mention the weather. Yes, girls here are beautiful, tanned and healthy but finding a relationship goes further than that.
'less than 10% of US citizens have a passport' oh really, did you even consider the fact that people in US have many reasons to vacation in Canada, Mexico and Hawaii!!!!! The number of passports will now increase substantially with new rules!!
One thing you do have right Alexander is the fact you will be considered a little exotic because you are the foreigner. Go to the clubs and try to talk to any lady you find attractive. Just being a foreigner will give you a better chance of conversation time than lets say I would have. That is one reason I like to go to Ukraine and Russia. I like to be the foreigner. :)
My feetses is very firmly on Terra Firma and if you are talking slaries available, then yes Romania ain't the place, but if you have some REAL money to invest, watch the space over the next ten years. Check back then. Ya see, people who HAVE real money don't need to throw numbers around. Bit like a high end agent said to a client who asked the price of a property....."If you need to ask the price, you obviously can't afford it".
You see Mr Bean, some of us here probably pay more in tax in a year than you earn gross. Think about it.
But it was kinda fun to be one of the "Trout who rose to your bait".:-)
beanstobe,
no arguing intended, but I wonder what logic is leading the actions of a man who is "earning over 150k usd a year" and saves 50 usd each month being on here as basic.
Women here are pretty much like women elsewhere. Some choosey some not so much so. But if you come across like an arrogant prick and berate the US and its citizens on their home turf as some feel inclined to do, all I can say is good luck picking up women and good luck getting out of the bar alive.
There are good and bad people from every country. I do not rate the country on the basis of a few bad apples. However if you choose to hate the US due to its out-of-control foreign policy then please feel free to do so. America is a beautiful and diverse place with a fascinating culture and population. Who you meet will vastly depend on where you go, but opportunity is everywhere.
Be yourself, if you are what she wants she will let you know she is interested. I am looking outside the US because I am looking for something different, maybe we all are. You are going to visit here and there is no reason you should not enjoy your stay.
I think most of us Americans will accept you for who you are if you are a decent enough sort of person. I expect the same when I travel. Have respect for the population wherever you are and they will most likely treat you like a human being. And yes, women are also fascinated by foreigners. They like something different as well.
I hope that answers your question as you asked it without going into some rant about the social and cultural autism supposedly suffered by the ignorant Americans. Good luck on your trip.
I thought everyone was looking for an FSU woman because they were fed up with USA women?
Now it seems they are all brilliant afterall.
The thing about the USA is gun crime. YOu probably wont get caught up in it, but you never know who has got one....so it is a slight risk living in the USA, albeit maybe a very small one.
I have been there 3 times and yes they are very friendly to europeans. All depends what you want. It is definitely cheaper to live there than in England (petrol is half the price it is here, food is cheaper coz you get more of it, cheaper taxes I think. But when I was in Japan, some americans were there because they said america had not got what they wanted (easy women I think). Anyway I am sure it will be an experience....will you be able to get a tourist visa if you are from the ukraine?
