All Australian visas are going to be harder to obtain under new rules and forms that came into effect on July 16th 2007.
The new FORM 80, that will be required for all visas applicants to complete is 6 pages long and is the Governments answer to the war on terrorism and features comprehensive screening questions of character for all applicants and there family background.
For Russians, the patronymic name will be required, all places of residence and travel to all countries within the past 10 years, full details of brothers, sisters and parents, full details of all criminal offences whether convicted or not and many other personal questions to screen an applicants back ground including visits to Arabic or Muslim countries and the facts will be checked.
The screening process will become onerous to screen out "potential terrorists or associations with terrorist organisations or groups" and anything else the Government considers unsavoury.
Good luck for people wanting to get a fiance visa for a Russian/Ukraine/FSU women.
aussieman41, why would it make it harder for FSU women apart from having more pages to fill out. The news rules look for information that may suggest the person is a terrorist. Unless they have travelled to Iraq it maybe a problem.
There are other countries were terrorists live such as Middle East, Eygypt,Central Asia.
All the trouble in Iraq is being stirred up by terrorist agitators outside of Iraq.
911 was masterminded in Afghanistan, not Iraq.
Any country she has visited which has been known to have Muslim extremists or fanatics may cause a problem.
They also check family background, tree and history and do police checks to see if they have been involved in any crimes with Muslims. They could have been prostitutes working for a Muslim pimp in the UAE.
No Russian girl will have visited Iraq, thats stupid!
well i'd like to see the aussies refuse visas to 20-30 year old girls because they are potential terrorists. Clearly they have to find some evidence...which can't be that easy. Even if they worked as an prostitute in UAE doesn't mean jack, thats no reason to consider them a terrorist, but under the old rules they would have got this information, if the girl replied to all questions correctly....still all the girl could say is deny anything. They would never know. Hows someone in an office going to really know every detail about someones family travel in some village in russia unless the person supplies it? They aren't, get real. If a girl says shes never been to an muslim country, what are they going to do, ask all muslim countries to verify this?
Maybe, the point is that the blue meanies are thinking along those lines, whether correctly or incorrectly. They can deny on a whim, no matter which country of entry. The UK application in Ukraine now involves fingerprinting and digital photo prior to application (now through a 3rd party agency). The fee has already doubled. This business is going to fall apart except for the dedicated or insane, which may be the same thing.
