I must extend a thank you to the people on this forum who have warned about the modus operandi of some Russian women.
About three weeks ago, I was contacted by a Russian woman who seemed very interesting. When I asked why she chose me (my ad was not very appealing to a woman who looked for a husband), she did not answer. And that is how it went on. My questions were ignored. In the beginning, I chose to think it was due to lack of language skills. But as I was concerned how I would be able to live with a Russian woman, I searched the Net for sites on Russian culture. And I found this site. With warnings found on this forum.
Based on the posts, it dawned on me that this was yet another scam. I chose a strategy of humouring her and ask very specific questions. As she maintained her "monologue" about how wonderful she thought I was and how miserable she was, she continued ignoring my questions. But she still escalated her "feelings" for me to so serious that she wanted to visit me in Norway. Of course she did not have enough for the ticket, and requested some $600 from me. I asked her to cancel the trip, as I thought we needed to learn to know each other more before we arranged a meeting. And that was it. An email saying "Bad" is all I have received since.
So I want to thank the people on this forum who have warned me about these scams. It has saved me both money and grief.
Oh and inform website you emailed her. By most rules websites nowadays are forced into a situation of removing girl once she asks for money... but some don't.
This sounds like an old-style scammer...probably in her 40's..doing same MO for years. Newer girls are more devious,
getting money and gifts through pay per letters, flowers, visits while being wined and dined and of course'shopping".
Lyton and all newbees.................be suspicious when you receive first letters from girls, it is like a hunter going after its prey. Don't be fooled by their beauty and words.
