I am up for work near the border of Ukraine next week (Monday to Friday) and I booked a Tai Chi weekend course at my Tai Chi club in Lvov in Ukraine - which I joined this summer.
Problem is that my International Green Card car insurance hasn't been reissued - it ran out 1st November.
I am in dispute with my UK car insurance over this as they fail to understand that the White International insurance card they provided for me is invalid for entry into Serbia (where I need to go next month).
Is Ukraine border as inflexible as Serbian border (where you must have the Green card for the car) or more flexible - like Montenegro where you can get one for a small fee at the border?
In otherwords can I enter Ukraine by car with my valid International Car Insurance printed on White paper and buy a temporary "Green Card" at border?
I agree that it probably is not a problem as I checked out TheWongs post - but that post says that traffic is bad on that route Budapest - Lvov with long queues at border.
I checked Hungarian trains - I could get night train from a 2 hours from where I work and be there in Lvov fresh next morning (Saturday). I need to check if same is possible on return (Sunday night - Monday morning). If so, Ill just leave my car in Hungary and take sleeper. If not then I'll chance it by car.
I was of the opinion that all a green card did was upgrade one's insurance from third party to fully comp. That is regardless if one has fully comp. within the UK as soon as one leaves one's shores it becomes third party although it is advisable to have appropriate insurance, I can just imagine getting slung in a Ukrainian cell for knocking someone over.
