point taken. I've been to many socials and they definitely have deteriorated over the years. It used to be 15 girls for every guy and now its 5. And, yes, there is a mad rush to the dining table when the food is brought out. its really a sight to see. there is usually a handful of people though who are serious. well, they're usually the ones not rushing to eat! :) so i set my sights on them.
one reason why i recommend socials to newbies, is that you will be taken care of and you will meet a group of guys in the same situation as yourself. sometimes friendships develop which can lead to traveling companions which can help save alot of money. I don't want to sound cheap, but i advise someone that he will need to travel to ukraine 5 to 10 times before he finds the right one. don't you agree?
I didn't think of the socials like that, good point. You dont come across cheap to me, but rather, wise. My own situation shows me that it's a costly business continually coming here to Ukraine, and I probably do it the cheapest possible way that it can be done - I take a Eurolines Bus from London Victoria Coach Station to Warsaw Poland, from there I take the Kiev Express Train and get off at Kovel Ukraine, my girl's father then picks me up in his car and drives me the 166km to Rivne. I would be very interested in meeting a travel partner who would share the costs with me for us driving here to West Ukraine from the UK, awesome.
Good luck to you for when you go, you obviously have the experience with these socials to know the score, I do not, and was only going by what I saw on these 2 TV programmes that I have.
And yes, many visits to UA to find the one seems to be the norm, I myself have made 6 trips since I began this adventure last summer '07.
Site would be OUR site, run by US, 1 webmaster (anyone from here) plus maybe 2 or 3 "board" members. I personally dont think it should be a blog site, or forum site, just a pretty little website, where access is free to all and we sell nothing, other than advertising space from selected parties.
Site would not have an American bias, nor a European bias, because it would be OUR site. Every Western guy that has an FSU partner could submit his story, after it's checked over by the webmaster (one of us) for profanity and pornographic words/images it's then put on the site for all to read. If there are spelling mistakes, or Americanisms or whatever who cares, thats what makes us all different, and colourful, I would suggest.
There are guys on this very forum that are happily married to, or living with their FSU partner. Some guys, like myself, are not yet living with their girl but are in the process of trying to make it happen, how interesting all these different stories and experiences are to those that are yet to achieve it. Yes, members here do share tit bits of their relationship with us on this forum, but, it's scattered about everywhere, difficult to stumble across, often embedded within topics that some of us may not be interested in opening and therefore often missed by interested readers. Each time some TV programme appears on this whole subject everyone scrambles to watch it or, if they missed it, frantically try and locate it from someone so they can watch it. The next time a Television company somewhere in the world decides to make a programme about this phenomenon, it could be our website they contact requesting our participation in their programme, how cool would that be?!
Maybe you met your girl at a social, maybe off a dating site like Fiance dot com, maybe you placed a newspaper ad, or maybe you just walked around St Petersburg or Kiev and litterally bumped into the love of your life, well, lets hear your story, the ups, the downs, and everything in between, in 1000 words, with 2 or 3 photos of your life with your woman, any kids you may now have etc etc.
Left hand side links......"Dave & Svetlana's story" - "Pete & Oxana's story" etc etc. Also, well written articles sent in to us that are of interest or help to the visitors....."Living with a Ukrainian woman - what you NEED to know" - "How to run your business in the FSU" etc. Each month we could have a "featured couple of the month" on our Homepage, a couple who, for example had been trying for several years to obtain a Fiance/Marriage Visa without success, but now have been finally granted it for their chosen country.
I understand that there are couples in this world who would not want any publicity, so be it, we just wont hear about them.
Just about every website (and there must be a couple of thousand of them now) associated with FSU dating wants money, our site would perhaps be the first of it's kind, a site that asks for absolutely nothing from it's information hungry vistors.
A website, for Western guys LOOKING for love in the FSU - run by Western guys who FOUND love in the FSU,
> I will be coming to kiev in first week in february. It sounds as if you will be home by then? I
> was thinking of attending the afa socials that will be going on that first week. Maybe these
> girls would be interested in attending also. I think for them its free.
maybe i should get olya to go to one to find out what they're like from a fsu girl's point of view!?!?
Reading this treat and story - is it something I am missing here? You write about your success and how lucky your are that your fiance drop her pants. (She have two legs as normal for woman I guess?) And you want support for your attainment. Okay - you are good so fare - but I think many here have get laid before even get married before and could tell stories about their fiance's legs.
Why you not take her home to your country? You will live there with her? You not have a home and job in UK? For me the success is when you get her home and her integrated into your society. It is a long period of language learning and a hole new word for her. And also with children it is a big long term responsibility. (I have all the experience) Will she leave Ukraine - from her friends and family? If so start that process as quickly as possible. You need years to settle and call it a success. I not think her legs is your priory thinking then. :)
A add on to my recent comment. Does you fiance know you in your home environment? And do you know her in that situation. I strongly suggest you take your time - before speaking about marriage.
another comment - you say you go by buss from UK to Warsaw and then train to Ukraine. It is maybe cheep but? You not have flights over there? Anyway I can get a flight from here to Kiev for one dollar + taxes (Wizzair) and I can get to London for 10 pound with taxes. (Ryanair)
Think I'll refrain from posting on this "forum" and just glance over it for the occasional answer to a particular question I may have every once in a while, it seems no matter how honourable one's intentions when posting a subject, there's always going to be a few people here that will (a - trash anything you write - (b - come across up-their-own-backsides & (c - highjack the thread with attacks on other members.
What a complete waste of a potentially good service for those needing help & information. I cant help but wonder what new readers of this forum will make of the personal attacks and mindless drivel that is not only posted EVERYDAY but also ALLOWED by the so-called moderator!
Complete idiots, so many here, cant string a couple of sentances together, offer other members absolutely NOTHING, criticise anything positive they read here, then there's the know-it-alls & up-their-own-backside brigade, yawn yawn.
And, a few, very few, decent guys it seems - Gecko, Dunromin and Peteb particularly stand out, and because of this forum Peteb and I have been exchanging SMS over the past week.
Come on "Moderator" start Moderating, restore this forum to it's original concept, good solid information and experiences, personal opinions as apposed to endless attacks. Issue 3day, 5day, 1 week & lifelong suspensions to constant abusers, attackers of others and repeat offenders.

What a joke and childish reaction - screaming after a moderator for pointing out some realism on your topic. I must have hit something. When you half way laying out your sex life you must be prepared for some comments. What you know about who is the complete idiots here?
To quote you:"good solid information and experiences, personal opinions" You give good solid information? (about her legs and that you going in the bath because no mama and papa not home) - sorry I just give my personal opinions. I will stay away from this treat in the future so - just bring it on.
Two observations. One if you critique a post it's wrong if you don't agree? I didn't think the Norwegians observation was out of line.
Two I have yet to know anyone here on this forum that has had success with Socials. Kind of like a sales blitz, hand out some paper eat some food and very little ROI with the expense involved.
Flying into Ukraine from the UK does still seem be very expensive per mile and its always good to hear of cheaper alternatives that involve flying to nearby countries.
so, what happens next? Please tells us... I'm from Rovno, but live in USA for 13 years,it was interesring to read your story. Hopefully it had a happy ending?
Hi Danny, whenever I fly to Ukraine it costs £145 from Gatwick return with Ukraine international. They have a panorama club which gives you further discounts on that. Nice story, I hope it works out for you both. I am sure you are intelligent enough to rise above the derogatory comments that appear! Filtering out the idiots, there are some very good people on this forum with a lot of knowledge.
