I found that russian speakers are taught to speak English the russian way and that means that certain things just can not be put across correctly. My gf learned more from me in one week than she did in 1 month from her teacher. As long as she can learn the basic english level the rest she should learn just by being in your country and around english speakers. Learning through association is probably more effective. A friends wife had only basic english when they got together and they learned to communicate and she learned english from him and just by being here around english speakers. Lets face it from an english point of view, how many Russian teachers know what Bloke means or many very commonly used english slang phrases, they dont and your girl will only ever learn through you and by being in your country. You will be her best english teacher.
As devilmaycare so rightly pointed out, learning english from me is not a good plan.
In our situation my gf was a NZ resident when we met and so the 2 years english lessons were free. May as well take up the offer.
I'd like to see her well setup for the future, even if we are not together. Further study is a good option for that.
Not much is said here about what women will do after they are settled into a western country.
I know one fsu woman here that is washing dishes in a restaurant. I dont think many are going to be happy moving to the other side of the world so they can wash dishes.
Another reckons she was a doctor in Russia, shes in her mid thirties and hasnt worked a day in the 7 years shes been here. Cant speak good english either. This is probably more normal.
It seems in most cases, of the fsu women in NZ, that making babies is about as far ahead as is planned.
They leave a lot on the table.
