Two days till I fly out, and I have one thing left to sort out. I need to get some flowers.
Normally, this isn't a problem. I did plenty flower shopping in Kiev last time. Thing is, she's meeting me at the airport, so I won't have time to get any once I'm there. Does anyone know if there's a florist before the arrivals door at Borispol? I suppose I could get some in the UK and take them on the plane - anyone ever done this?
I went through KBP just a couple of days ago (in Kyiv at the moment), but of course I wasn't looking for this. I've probably been in this airport more than 20 times, and I don't REMEMBER noticing a florist. Anyway, if she wants she can come in and wait for you at the door where you exit the Customs area -- and this would be before any shops.
I haven't tried to bring flowers on a plane. But your flight from the UK isn't very long, I suppose. The air seems really dry on the airliners, so I would try to figure out how to keep them damp. Don't know how airport security will react to flowers...
I have been to Borsipol recently and i am certain you can not buy flowers there and even more certain you can not bring flowers in from the uk because of potential pest contamination but i may be wrong. I was in passport control for over 90 minutes it was chaos and each man for himself be prepared for a bit of a wait if it is busy there. Bring her chocolates mate they all love chocolates.
You have to ask your travel agent or airline if it is allowed to transport flowers with you from one country to another. I doubt it is. It's better to buy them after near or at the airport. Just don't forget that you have to buy odd number of flowers as in Ukraine even number is brought for funerals
Buy a nice red rose in your town. Have it well wrapped and carry it on the plane.
When you first see her in the airport, present that to her and say,
"From <home town name> from me to you here in <city>"
Knowing the trouble you went through to bring this single rose to her is far impress her more and earn you more points than any bunch bought in her country.
Proud is a man who does not feel self-concious about carrying flowers. And women who see a man carrying flowers are envious of the woman for whom they are intended.
It was my privilege to make the acquaintance of a gentleman, Dave Fox, who has since left this world. He taught his stepson, "it takes a real man, to wear a pink shirt."
First time I went to meet my Ukrainian lady in Donetsk I had a layover in Frankfurt before the final leg to Donetsk. I figured I didn't want to try and keep the flowers alive from Chicago to Franfurt (9 hours) but surely I could get some during my six hour(I think) layover in Germany.mUCH easier said than done.
Could not find any flowers in the airport - took a while to figure out a decent way to get outside and find roses in a local shop - but I did it.
WOuld have been much easier to bring them from Chicago.
Seedler I did read you where looking for pictures of another guy on this forum, and even said he was good looking! Your still pissed I found your dirty profile, get over it and get a life. I don't live alone mate, you do.
Its not a matter of what other people will think. If you take flowers on the plane you have to make sure they are stored safely. Thats a womens job. Guys buy flowers, women look after them. Of course all the pink shirt wearing metrosexual guys will disagree.
You are the only male (I assume you are male of course) I am aware of who ever sought out my profile on a dating site. What do you call a man who looks for other men on a dating site? Certainly "Gay".
Right... you're the supposedly "happily married guy" who has spent every spare moment for the last 3 years on a singles forum. I guess looking up girls on dating sites would go with the territory - but you proved you actually look up men. And now you are taking a big antigay and anti metrosexual stand - which is really common among men with latent homosexual characteristics.
I had a window seat, on purpose, and placed my single, well wrapped flower on the floor next to the cabin wall. I was careful to not kick it and it survived no problem. Took it through screening no problem.
My RW was very pleased with it and she later commented that this attention to this little detail was more proof to her that I was serious about my intentions for a serious relationship (and a man who does pay attention to the details).
There are small green containers of water that I carried my flowers in. Noone else took care of them for me. I showed her pictures of the garden. It was one of the things she told her friends about me.
