I can say from firsthand experience that my lady's photo and profile was discovered on a dating site she had no idea about. Her photo and profile was pirated. Yes, google is a powerful tool.
I forget it was so long ago. But she was insulted and madder than hell about it. She told me she did sign up for one site, again I forget, and that after doing some research learned that it was not a reputable site. She quit - or so she thought - and after careful consideration she signed onto Elena's Models. That is how we met. We both had only signed up within a month of each other. She told me that almost all of the men who wrote to her talked about THEMSELVES and how they had this and that and could give her a better life etc. etc. etc. It took me weeks before I wrote to her because I thought she had an arrogance about herself. But I still kept checking her out because her profile was so much different than others. She was interested in me because, as she told me, I was the first genuine man who wrote interesting letters to her. Plus I have a great sense of humor. I remember asking her why she never smiled in her photos - I was worried about dental deficiency. She explained that in Russia people who smile are considered fools. And that got us into the whole culture discussion. When she said she had a geology background I asked her about the rock formations in a few photos she sent. Her answers proved she was genuine. She told me about her finance background and I googled her. There was her photo and professional profile on an international investment firm's website. She told me she was tired of being in charge of people and just wanted nothing more than having a partner in life. Yes, perhaps I was very lucky and the stars lined up. I never lied to her or made myself out to be anyone other than who I am. And I asked very many questions with interest in her family, her background where she lived, grew up and views of the world. She ran track in hi-school. But was more focused on studies.
The only way to have such a report with someone is to first have a spark of interest. Physical attraction being first. Then realizing common interests and desires. Then you must be able to communicate free of any outside influences. Meaning: IF YOU CAN'T CONTACT HER DIRECTLY BY GETTING HER AWAY FROM AN AGENCY AND HAVE HER PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME.
She did not want to give me her phone number because she could not speak English. But she relented. Our first conversation was, "I no understand..." But it was pretty cool.
I the spring of 2008 I was on this site (Fiance.com) writing to a pretty lady from Poltava (spelling) Ukraine. Then I joined A Foreign Affair and found her on their site also. In the summer of 2008 I attended a social in Kiev with A Foreign Affair and low and behold she was at that social. I spoke to her and she had no idea who I was... I explained to her that we had been corresponding for over four months and she was amazed and told me that someone uses her photos and identity in Poltava (spelling). This is one of my experiences with agency scamming but I think it is the tip of the iceberg and is probably common practice.
