Your level of command of the English level = 0 ?
Wait, please rate my Russian what follows:

.
You see, THAT was worth a 0, not yours :)) Besides, you spell better than some posters here, and please recognize a compliment when you see one?
“It is impossible to demand something from the person, not having showed similar requirements to itself “
How right you are, so we DO agree! You see, the guy goes over first, and he ‘shows’ what you call requirements (he shows he respects the environment by knowing how to adapt to it).
If all goes well she comes to him, and definitely has to show she will too, for someone not adjusting will stand out, probably loose out as well.
My example was basically to demonstrate that anyone will appreciate somebody better when he ‘fits in’, simply because it shows he’s taken an interest and has done some research. Besides, good manners are universal.
Regarding your present to poor families:
Most will use a gift-service for that, hence the gift and/or presentation is in any case tailored to local customs. Anyone may give anyone anywhere a gift, and such is worldwide appreciated by whoever receives it. It shows attention, and indeed the actual gift is of a lesser importance.
Unless you start sending Porsche’s or something.
However, if you forget a birthday-date of your wife you just might have to give one ... ;-)
Thanks all for attention to my retorts.
I should readdress compliments to the electronic translator. Unfortunately, my Italian at this forum is useless.
Sincerely I wish all success.
By the way, if someone wants to use the electronic translator to write letters in Russian - I can give the address of a site.
I got the same letter from Diana. In my response, I pointed out that she neglected my birthday a few weeks ago. I also pointed out to her that I've asked her several times to tell me about herself, and she refuses. She just sends generic letters. She's had well over 200 letters written to her. No wonder her letters are generic.
