Surprised? Huh? So you may ask. What the hell so many ladies are doing on the dating websites?
Russian and Ukrainian women do not look for a foreign husband. They are looking for A husband. Take a look on their profiles. They say that they want husband who is honest, mature and so on. There almost no ladies who did write that they want to get married to an American, French or man from other country.
There are lots of dignified men here in Ukraine and Russia you can believe me! They are mature and family oriented they have careers and successful enough to take care about their families. Those times when Russian and Ukrainian women were ready to marry almost any foreigner just to run away from country are in past (less visa scammers on the dating websites by the way).
Of course I do not deny that there are still some ladies who are going to get married to get visa or green card. But there are few of them. Other single women from Ukraine and Russia had bad experience in relationship with local man and truly disappointed in them. They hope that maybe foreign men will be better. Some mail order brides choose international dating agencies because they still believe in fairy tale and wait for their prince come from Far Far Away. But most of the ladies in online dating websites are just women who are looking for their soul mate wherever he is. I mean that they do not mind that their husband would be a foreigner. Even if it means learning foreign language and moving to another country.
PS. Can anyone tell me how to paste You Tube videos in posts to this forum?
I agree as well. Even I get rejected here and there on this Ukrainian website. I think there expectations are a little too high. And a lot of women don't like Ukrainian men. This is still true. However, there are a lot of young couples as well.
My story is simple. I'm going to Ukraine cause it's my background and I want to see the country. I'm not bad looking, and I've had good results so far. It's just time to get my butt over there to see how things work out!
However, I don't know how the majority of Ukrainian Men can be successful when the country itself is still poor. The average worker makes $150 a month, unless their family is rich or they own their own business.
Zarkey, this country is not poor at all. :) Have you ever visited Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk or any other big city in Ukraine? A lot of my client are surprised see to such a big concentration of cars cost over $50 000 in this cities.
There are some men here who actually live for as low as $150 a month but it is very small salary even for a student working a part time.
Keep in mind that a $50K car in America costs no less than $100K in Russia (and I think Ukraine too). And there are more Bentleys, Mercedes, BMWs, Audis, etc in Moscow than in New York City (not a fact, but my own observation).
According with this Forbes article, Moscow is the city in the world with the 3rd most number of Billionaires (with a B), behind London and New York only. (http://www.forbes.com/2009/03/10/worlds-richest-cities-billionaires-2009-billio naires-cities.html)
There are five billionaires in Ukraine. And quite a few millionaires. Most live in Kiev. But some live in the Donests Oblast.
There is certainly money in Ukraine. BUT there is a HIGE difference between the upper echelon and the lower ones.
Its true - that unless you are Bill Gates or Warren Buffet, most likely some other man in Ukraine has far more monty than you do. Just being a westerner with money will not allow you to select anywoman you want. BUT there are so few of these mega wealthy men and so many less well off women - that they certainly cannot handle all of them.
If billionaires and millionaires were allowed each 100,000 wives and all of these wives had to be true to their husbands - we westerners would be out of luck. But thats not the case.
Every successful man I have ever met in Ukraine has at least one mistress. But that still leaves millions of Ukrainan women who AREN'T the mistress of any Ukarainian man. And that ought to be sufficient.
The guy who started this thread makes a valid point. Even if we are rich westerners, we are still likely to be poorer than the richest Ukrainians. And Ukrainian women can certainly see people richer than we are.
I don't know about any of you, but all I need is ONE wife. If she is not interested in me because I am not the richest man she is aware of then thats okay. I will move on to one of the other millions of desireable women who IS interested in me.
The per capital income of the US in 2008 was $47,000 per year. The per capita income of Ukraine during that same period was $6,900 so obviously that vast wealth in Ukraine is not well distributed.
On one of my trips to Ukraine I was in Kiev and the topic of conversation was the mayor and how he had recently bought a Maybach for his wife for her birthday.
Maybach is a German luxury car - the cheapest model, the 57, has a base price of $344,000 - the most expensive model, the 62 Zeppelin, has a base price of $677,000. Thats without import fees. And I am sure the model she received probably had some extras.
So obviously there is some money in city government.
But recently as I undertstand it - the mayor of Kiev was deposed by the new president. So there are some risks with the job.
I wouldn't look twice at a woman who wanted a guy with a good looking car. What that means is that she wants a nice car more than you!
However, that's not to say that really good looking women aren't down to earth, won't screw you over, try to stab you, or nickel and dime you. Filtering is the key. It's like removing spam from your inbox.
Keep in mind that the average Ukrainian guy HATES the average western guy - becasue you probably make ten times as much money as he does.
and since the average western guy does not travel to Ukraine looking for a wife (usually those with higher incomes do) you are heads and tails - income wise - above the average Ukrainian guy.
They resent this like crazy.
I am not particularly good looking (just look at my photo) and I am not rich or young - yet I had two incredible women with me recently (a lady I liked and her sister) when I went into a Ukrainian bar - and the locals hated me for it.
The guy who started this thread is an example of such a guy and loves to point out that there ARE Ukrainian guys who have far more than I do. As mentioned earlier, I don't deny this.
But this localized hate an discouragement aside - you can do very well.
Baron.....there are incredibly beautiful women in all FSU countries!!!
Stop looking at the pictures!!! ;-)))
Actually, they are everywhere but what makes the FSU countries stand out in my eyes is their slender figures........ALL the cabooses are only on the trains!!!!
I did see the fancy cars in Kiev, right off Khreshatik near independece square, don't remember the street but they were lined up.....each car, half on curb half on street.
I haven't learned the rules for Russia, but a Ukrainian man told me that the import duty for autos is 100%.
I don't pay any attention to luxury cars (Durak likes light-weight machinery), but this Ukrainian pointed out to me many examples of luxury cars that would be considered very expensive by western standards (for example, not merely the big top-of-the line Mercedes, but the AMG souped-up version of it) -- keeping in mind, that if the vehicle was imported legally, the buyer paid double.
IMHO, it is very, very hard for law-abiding Ukrainians to afford such automobiles. When I see such a car in Kyiv, I think "banda" (gangsters). They may be very respectable gangsters, such as government officials who can make millions from bribery and misappropriation of public funds.
It is no different in Russia -- a Moscow cab driver told me a Russian joke, that explains what BMW stands for. The Russian phrase beginning with the three sounds meant "military vehicle of gangsters."
About the mayor of Kyiv (or governer, as they usually translate it to English), the model I met there was hired as a "decoration" for the mayor's birthday party a few years ago.
Not to throw a spanner in that argument (well, not intentionally, anyway), but one of my dates in Kiev drove an Audi S4 - new! 30 year old photographer and interior designer. From what I could gather, she was on a fairly average wage (although she was in a fairly senior post)
I agree with Beemer ...
... the eating habits of FSU ladies are usually far better than those of westeners (myself included). The "good" life catches on with us sooner or later
Want to see some monied people in Kiev? Go to the "Egoist" restaurant. They have an extensive wine list but (if memory serves me correctly) the cheapest glass of white wine cost $20 and the cheapest glass of red was $35.
By the bottle - wine ranges from $350 to $35,000, per.
And yet this place was absolutely packed.
Next to my table was what appeared to be a child's birtday party and when the guests arrived there were already seven bottles of wine on the table - and I'm betting it wasn't the cheapest stuff in the house.
VERY annoyed at the girl who I allowed to choose this restaurant (one of the few times I have been taken is such a way) for herself and her friend/translator, we had WATER on my insistance - though I did have a little whiskey while I waited for them to show up and as I read the menu and saw the prices.
I had a small salad as did the "friend", the girl had soup - the bill for these three appetisers game to $90. Then I insisted we go somewhere less expensive and we did. But the experience was worth it only to see the rich and famous of Kiev taking part in conspicuous consumption.
The girls told me later that they recognized the vice-mayor of Kiev and serveral local celebrities. And there was an army of body guards - each one bigger than the one before and all with coiled/corded ear pieces going from ear to under collar.
