Does anyone know if I could merry a Russian Lady with a felony conviction( Grand Theft ) which happened 15 years ago. Before I proceed with this adventure I would like this answered
Are you a US citizen? To bring her to the USA in the usual way (K1 visa), you would need to disclose your record.
Also, if you use a marriage agency (in whichever country), they are supposed to tell women about your criminal record BEFORE any introduction.
From what I have read of other men's stories, your history would not necessarily be a problem. If I understand rightly, the State Department would be looking for two things: was she properly informed of your record before any messages/meetings? Does he have a history of domestic violence?
If you're not from the US, the pre-meeting disclosure isn't necessary, but the visa process might still require a check of your background. Maybe other guys who know more about this, will post here.
We all make mistakes. But of course your sinless and perfect in the eyes off the Lord right? In fact maybe you better know a person before you flash insults.
Back to the subject in hand and something durak mentioned in his response,
I'm not precisely sure what this US rule dictates regarding a criminal record but there is a very good UK TV programme on youtube, unfortunately it can only be viewed from a UK IP address, where the reporter and filming were present at an AFA romance social in Odessa.
One of the American guys present had a criminal record, quite a significant criminal record as I recall, but he had still been accepted by AFA to the social at which his criminal record was not being mentioned to the ladies.
Under some intensive questioning from the reporter the AFA official was answering with shrugs of her shoulders or similar and declined to be questioned further whilst the cameras were still rolling, the questioning continued and completed off camera.
It was subsequently reported to the effect that AFA were simply going through the motions of this US requirement ... That they must run a criminal records check, yes they were running the check and they were promptly filing it in the trash can.
Really some people should take a course in manners. But look who your dealing with? Very fortunate there behind a computer as fools fall hard.
I researched this matter and really not bothered by the inconsequential. I thought it really stupid to go the agency route. Not my style. I've met the most honest and beautiful chick and met her once. In fact a women that refuses my offer of money to her? I Am 35 shes 25. Shes absolutely madly in love also. Well thanks for the info. Good lookin out

The IMBRA law only states that a criminal record must be disclosed; it does not preclude someone from travelling or corresponding with an FSU woman. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Certainly, whatever the misguided IMBRA law says, it holds no power over an American overseas; an American "gentleman" can be introduced to any one regardless of any criminal record.
regardless of all that is said and put on paper, it all comes down to the interview. depending on what kind of day the interviewer is having it can be a rough or easy process. they will definitely quiz her on the fact that you have a criminal record. and if she does not know the details it will not bode well for you. one thing for sure, if you lie or are in any way fraudulent on your application and they find out (they can) your lucky lady will be sent packing. and you are subject to prosecution.
(bow - any rut activity out there yet? nothing but some trees rubbed here and there out my way. I am heading to cal and when I get back probably a day or two near Stuebenville 15-16-17 Nov. then heading up to northern mich. mich gun Nov 15. guy in mi says he saw two fighting last week)
But I wonder, how did ivor know so much about a stranger's criminal record? Do people feel the need to disclose this to someone they do not know? Or is this just made up bantering?
Criminal records are public records. You can go to any courthouse and obtain criminal records, misdemeanor or even just court proceedings on anyone. But, you have to know which courthouse. Ask for it, and they will give it to you on anyone. You can do it by phone or internet, but they will charge you for their time and probably a dollar per copy.
Records are by county. It would do you no good if you look in another county's records. The only way I know is to join one of these records check companies on the internet. They offer you unlimited searches for about $20 - prices vary. I don't know. I never did it. I know there was one free site I frequented before, but I can't find it now. My guess is Martin joined one of these sites to look himself or someone else up and it was easy to look you up.
so why would ivor spend time and effort doing this? is he the fsu dating site guardian?
I met someone at a social. he decided to divulge all of his deep dark secrets to me. maybe I have the kind of face that total strangers want to tell me their life story. I don't think so.
if I was at one of these things I would concentrate my efforts on trying to get to know a woman. I certainly would not play twenty questions with some dude who happened to be there. sounds fishy to me.
Criminal and court records are no secret. Haven't you noticed when the celebrities get arrested? Their booking photos are immediately available to the public available, especially news reporters. Anyone can do that on anyone and publish it, and the criminal will not be able to sue. It is public information.
but why? why would a man at a social be so concerned about another man? you are not getting my drift here. .................... if you went to a social, would you tell another man that , 'Golly, I have a criminal record and I wonder if it is okay.' or that my name is joe mama. and then someone would look up joe mama's name to see if he had a criminal record.???????
you aren't getting the point. and I don't feel like explaining it now.
