but Putin is boinking Merkel in every open orifice she has as well as the rest of Germany's leaders who all waiting in line fora chance to blow Putin.
Germany knows that its military is in tatters. 234 actual operational tanks in the whole country, about a dozen missile launchers, less than 100 aircraft of all types flightworthy.
Donbass has a much more capable military than Germany and the Baltics combined that why Merkel is so determined to kiss Russia's ass is because they cant have the world know that taking over Germany would be easier than taking over Donetsk
Due to certain events of 1939-1945 Germany has/had restrictions (or similar) in place upon it's military regarding what it can do and what it can't do, some of these have since been lifted, others remain in place.
Indeed when a number of countries took military action to remove Gaddafi Germany withdrew it's military from Mediterranean NATO duties for fear of being drawn in to what was a third party military conflict.
Germany would not want to repeat history by invading neighboring European country(s) that may lead to a far more serious conflict, they've been there and done that, they're not about to risk repeating history particularly on the say so of an interfering and clearly ignorant US electoral candidate!
I have observed presidential elections. In my lifetime, there have been three that had a big lead from the get go and went all the way: Jimmy Carter in 1976, Bill Clinton in 1992 and Barack Obama in 2008. They properly explained their missteps which never mattered that much.
For that reason, I think Donald Trump will go all the way.
I sat and had dinner with a Canadian, two Americans and a German last evening, particularly the German, when I told him what Donald Trump had suggested we had a good laugh and it's not like Germans and Brits to share a common ground about WWII etc.
Sir Martin ... You just reminded me of 2013 Champions League at Wembley Stadium, Borussia vs Bayern Munich...and London was invaded by Germans. Not a good day for field trip there. Pubs and restaurants were maxed out. I thought I was back in Germany!!!
When I lived in Luxembourg the national language is Luxembourgish, the working language is French but the court system works in German.
My Opel Kadett GSI was French registered and I was using a friend's address (in France) for the registration, insurance etc.
The Luxembourg police decided that it was illegal for me to own a French, a British or any other vehicle other than a Luxembourg registered vehicle and decided to take me to court for driving without insurance.
As my name was called in court a German man stepped forward, I'd never met nor spoken with him before, and introduced himself as my interpreter, at the court's behest he asked me "You are accused of driving without insurance, is that correct?" to which I replied "Yes, that is correct".
Next thing I found myself convicted of driving without insurance, fined and banned from driving, I reverted to the interpreter "What did you say to them?", he replied "You admitted to driving without insurance", I replied "No I didn't, you asked me to confirm that I was accused of driving without insurance, you didn't ask me if I had actually been driving without insurance!"
Bloody Germans :)
P.S. As the court served the penalty upon me written in French, a language that they knew I didn't speak, I just ignored them, I carried on driving, I never paid the fine and not so long afterwards I changed job and left the country.
Luxembourg!!! French majority on A little part of Germany, that I saw it.
Martin ... You can get away with driving without insurance here in the states; driving with insurance in the EU is an economic and legal nightmare . Your Opel could had been impounded or squashed on the spot.
They did impound my Opel, a lovely car, it had been "doctored" prior to me buying it, the speedo went up to 230kph and it would go off the clock, one day between Ostend and Brussels it took a police BMW 20 minutes to catch me and only then because of traffic congestion.
But Luxembourg being Luxembourg, the world's richest country per capita, I just went and took out a bank loan, bought another Opel Kadett GSI, and never paid back the bank loan :)
Lucky your! My BMW M1 was older than my Ukrainian ex-GF so couldn't pass more than 190 KPH before having tremors on the autobahn. The only way I could flight under the radar at a speed of over 220 KPH was with rental...even though, I got my boss on time to fly outa FRA for free, the next time around he ought to pay for the shuttle bus. I had was told not to drive through France because of their stupid traffic laws and high tolls.
"Martin ... You can get away with driving without insurance here in the states; driving with insurance in the EU is an economic and legal nightmare. "
Then there is no difference in the EU, is there? You are covering up for your lack of knowledge. You made it up. About the VAT, you didn't know that either. You only think you do. You haven't added anything important. You're only out to tell the world you know everything when in fact, you don't.
