The older you get the less difference it makes if you put photos that are 5 years old or so. But for the ladies, let us be honest, their looks are more important than in a man and they should have recent photos.
However, I do not understand why you are putting old photos of yourself. The girls will eventually find out what you look like, starting with Skype.
When I went to see a lady in Crimea this year, she did not look shocked at seeing me, at all, as my photos were fairly recent.
I do not take "selfies" like everyone with a cell phone is apt to do. Maybe I should take some photos using my video cam and replace the old ones (those taken on vacation trips). One of the ladies has seen me on videocam and did not say anything about the earlier photos that I gave to her. She also has a photo of me as a small kid. I don't have a social media presence. One other lady remarked that I do not look like my age.

Sorry for being like a "broken record". Actually, I was not worried about the old photos. But I have seen several women's profiles that had photos when they were much younger. When they would write to me and attach a more recent photo (such as going to a restaurant), for some, the change was quite dramatic. But as they say, beauty is only skin deep.
I also see old pictures of them, epecially when the photo has got the camera date on it!
For a young girl in her early twenties, a 3 year old photo is quite old, for a 40-45 year old woman, it has to be about 7-10 years old to make a difference.
But then again, if you are getting yourself a young girl in her mid twenties, you are still lucky to get her despite her old photos for her young and fresh student days.

Yes, very true in the case of one lady in her 20s whom I am writing with. Her profile has photos when she was in her early 20s. Now approaching 30, her recent photos that she sends to me, I can see a bit of a change (of course, the lack of makeup also contributes a bit). I also sent her a photo when I was around 4, but she has not sent me any photo when she was a toddler.
