Ukraine isn't asking for NATO bombers or soldiers, only basics like communications equipment, surveillance drones, antitank weapons, guns ...but Ukraine's leader still went home empty-handed........... http://online.wsj.com/articles/applause-but-no-arms-for-ukraine-1411081952
"Ukraine isn't asking for NATO bombers or soldiers"
Well taking in to consideration that Ukraine isn't a NATO member to ask for NATO heavy military and personnel to fight their domestic situation would be escalaying this to an international situation.
US/EU are providing non-lethal aid to a domestic situation in Ukraine whilst, given time, Russia's economy will be f*cked by the ever increasing non lethal sanctions being placed upon it. For US/EU to arm Ukraine to kill Russian nationals might escalate this situation to a level that none of us want to experience during our lifetimes and what if any US/EU provided armament was inadvertently used in the bringing down of an airliner with 298 innocent souls on board?
Obama isn't responsible for the world's problems, not every world problem should fall upon his shoulders to deal with, not every world situation is successfully dealt with by killing people, the sanctions are having effect, the Russian people are no doubt counting their rubles to decide if they can afford to pay their mortgage, have meat on their dinner table that day etc., some world situations are better dealt with by "patience" rather than "patients"!
Vladimir Putin allegedly threatened World War 3 during talks about Ukraine, claiming that Russia could potentially invade and take over the capitals of many European countries within two days.
Martin it is already an international conflict. In the assassinations at Maidan, the sheltering or Yanukovych, invading and occupying Crimea and supporting criminal and terrorist in the east of Ukraine as well as the invasion there. It is also the U.S.' obligation to assist because of treaty in Prague and most importantly,, the U.S. destroyed the U.S.S.R. over many decades and did little to assist is the Free Market economy that was the goal of that endeavor.
The problem is all of these criminal behaviors have been rationalized and lied about by Putin and his controlled media. They blame the US and NATO and the Russians and Danny fall for it.
Free market is nothing more than freeing the market from government control. Obama does what he can get away with it in the US. Ex-president Yanukovich got away with a lot more. There is very little the US can do with corruption in another country.
Many of you here feel a personal involvement with Ukraine, you want the situation resolved, you want the Ukrainian people protected, you want things to get back to how they were etc.
Perhaps fortunately government(s) should not become "personally" involved and should view situations from an overall perspective.
Yes, Putin has illegally occupied Ukraine and is continuing to illegally cross an international border and not in the name of peace. Russia has a lot of might and needs to be treated with diplomacy rather than bombs and bullets and in that respect I consider the sanctions to be the path to maintain for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile down in Iraq and Syria there is a situation developing that could make Al Qaeda seem like pussy cats, war crimes, mass murders, ethnic cleansing, US and UK nationals being beheaded live on video etc. etc. etc.
Now, personal involvement aside, where would you believe the the biggest threat to world peace exists and where the international powers that be should be concentrating any military assistance, in Eastern Ukraine or against ISIS?
It's not a feeling. I think I left the iron on and the window is down on my car. Your advice might have been use full 75 years ago, but the role of the U.S. has not been what you suggest since that time.
ISIS is capable of killing large numbers of people in either ground attacks or with terrorist attacks. Russia can kill from a distance, simply by pressing preset buttons, and the death toll could be in the millions.
Russia has been testing and taunting western countries for months now,, flying into our airspace with bombers and fighter jets. What are they trying to accomplish ??
Many people think it is inconceivable that anyone would intentionally start WWIII,,,, but Putin is a madman and insane!!
Perhaps we should make a movie of this?? And call it: Revenge of the Killer DUNTS!!!
I dont get the dunt thing and i dont care to but it sure shows how childish you are and its isnt any wonder why your desperate and without enen a girlfriend
Ukraine has been illegally occupied for a few months and you're kicking up stink, Cyprus has been illegally occupied for 40 years and you couldn't give a rat's ass.
Injustice is prevalent in every dark corner, but the difference is what was propagated by politics , cosigned by treaty and an immanent threat to world stability. The failure of Putin to act in Syria these last several years and the abandonment of Iraq by Obama is the direct cause of the rise Isis.
Yeah and where did the isis get weapons .... Bloody america . They are to blame for all things crap. Putin will do a good thing for crimea best america fix the isis problem for the world that they started . Loud mouth yanks just ruine it for everyone . Even in all there movies russia is the bad guy when really it just a hand ball joke
The US had two Americans beheaded and have dropped hundreds of bombs, so there is no doubt we are involved. Obama does not want to send in the troops. I see his point, but I think he is wrong. This would end rather quickly, if he did.
There is an estimation of 30,000 ISIS members. We can match that. Man for man, I believe they can be snuffed out quickly. With the bombings, I hope it would not take that many troops to take them out, but if that's what it takes, why not? Other countries should help, but the US has to lead that way. There were 160,000 troops at the peak of the Iraq War, so we have the troops.
