Strange how women from different cultures view age in men !!!
A Russian gilr would have no porblem with her man being 20 years older than she is provided he isnt an asshole and treats her correctly, yet UK girl of 20 wouldnt think twice about being very insulting and nasty to a 40 year old man who approached her or tried to chat her up !!
Yes, Thank Go.
evening Tim. I'm off to relax as the rest of this evening is dedicated to Russian language learning. If you don't put the hours in, you won't get the reward. :)
I think you are correct, I know Russians think very hard about many things, so yes Im sure if we think twice about something, then out ladies will be thinking at least 3 4 or 5 times about the same things !!!
I was only saying to dma earlier, it is normal to have worries and second thoughts, and anyone who does not have these concerns is taking this whole situation far too lightly and has not though through what they are embarking upon properly.
Now my dear, you should be sleeping surely ? If you are no further from me than in Ukraine your time is now almost 1am at least I think !! ;o))
Tim,
Let me join the group of well-wishers. May your expectations come true!!!
"I'm off to relax as the rest of this evening is dedicated to Russian language learning..."
Dma,
How is your Russian going on? Could you already say(write) us something. For example, "kak dela?" or "privet" :*)
Moya detka, Ya toskooyu bez vas tak. Segodnya prekrasen. Emeyte horoschey den. Govorite skoro. Potselooi vaschi goobi!...Moy miliy Angel, ya skhazshu po tebe suma c lyublyu.
I am sure I make mistakes but you have to start somewhere and I enjoy trying to write my own SMS, greeting cards, and learning necessary words for a relationship. ;) I can't stress enough the value and importance on trying to learn the language and try to do at least 30 mins to an 1hr each day.
Dma,
I imagine how difficult it must be for you to learn the Russian language. All the effort you pat into it is very laudable. Ya znayu russkij neploho i mogu pomoch tebe v napisanii SMS dlya lyubimoj devushki. Does it make sense, dma? To be frank I am not sure if it is the right place here as everyone is interested in Tim's story. More likely it is his thread, what do you think?
I agree but you asked! ;)
Feel free to open up one of the other language threads. I'm interested to learn how others have progressed or struggled and over what period.
...and thanks for the offer to help with my writing/spelling to her, I'll continue with my CDs and books for the next 4 to 6 weeks but I can see I have a long journey ahead. :)
I'm taking a refresher course this summer to get
my Russian back on track. I never did have the case
system perfected.
(Nice thing about working at a university -
classes are free!)
I'm also helping to design a course on
the history of the Russian/Soviet space
program. Everyone here knew that
April 12 was Cosmonauts Day in Russia, right?
Trivia Question: Yuri Gagarin started a tradition
that is still practiced by almost all cosmo/astronauts
before launch. What is it?
I suggest that Tim takes a bus between Terminals at the airport before "launch" to Natasha and when the driver is not looking, keep up with tradition and do the deed!
You're a brave man if you can manage this whilst the bus is travelling and a smart one if you can avoid being detained. ;)
Dma,
I am leaving for odessa today. Return in two weeks. So I hope to talk to you in Russian as I am sure you will learn more at this period!
Have a good day!
