I'm becoming very skeptical as of late and was hoping I could recieve some advice. I have a profile on yahoo personals, as of late 2 supposedly seperate women from Russia have written me (even though I live in the US). I wrote one of these women back, and have been corresponding with her (him?) for the past month. With each new email she sends me a picture of herself with some beatiful scenery in the background (who is taking these pictures??). The last email she sent me, she told me that she is "in love with me". Are their scams going around the internet that have guys writing these emails spamming the yahoo personals and taking pictures of russian women to make fools like me believe that I have truely found real love? Is this is common scam, or do russian women really just fall in love over a few email converstations, and are so desperate to get out that they randomally write people in various US cities? If this is real i'm extrememly excited, however i havnt made my fortune by playing into scenarios that are too good to be true. Any advice would be appreciated.
Ryan; Good point. Since Yahoo Personal ads are based (in the US anyway) on ZIP CODE - a Russian woman has to pick a zip code, evidently at random, to be able to contact someone in the US. (She can ask for an area within 200 miles of her randomly chosen zip code.)
I was written to by a VERY beautiful woman who followed the same mode of operation that you describe above. She sent another beautiful picture with each letter. While I only received two (because I only wrote to her twice) I was too busy with women I had actually met in person. But a friend I work with received six or seven from the SAME WOMAN. He knew of my trips to FSU and asked me one day what I knew about Russian woman (no American guy EVER knows all about Russian women).
She also professed love to him after a few letters and after about six or seven - she asked him for some $800 for a ticket and to procure a visa!! I advised him AGAINST sending the money of course - but he was not convinced that it was a bad idea. He reasoned that he could lose that amount at a casino in one weekend - why not take a chance here?
He was sceptical enough to ask for the name of the travel agency she intended to work through. He checked out said agency - and at first thought it was legitimate. later he had doubts and in the final moments before he was to send the money - decided not to. He foffered to visit the woman in Russian when he had vacation in several months instead. Suddenly the woman's english improved dramatically as she told him off - saying that she had vacation NOW not in several months. She also told him that if he wouldn't send the money NOW don't bothr contacting her again.
Of course it was the classic scam - I'll get a plane ticket and a visa - you send me money. Fortuantely he ultimately did not fall for it.
I am just curious. I will send you a picture by personal email of this girl. Just curious to ask you - is she one of those writing to you?
Guys I have had a lot of the same experience with such contacts. They always have a reason you cant vist now or they suddenly must take their vacation and of course they can get the visa in a few weeks for $350 US...and of course the ticket and the physical....you get the idea. Be very carefull I have not met one that is legit yet from the american personals. They all love you and have wonderful friends that photograph them all the time....But they are what got me into this in the first place as many here can say.
any suggestions on how to go about this the right way without being scammed? I'm 28 and interested in meeting a real person, and having real converstations. Also in not wasting my time, and money of course !
Yes I would sugest the full membership for a month and see. I think there are many sincere individuals here as well as the hmmm. But they tend to want to lead you somewhere else...to their agency that delivers their mail to them of course at your expense kind of thing...or thru their phone services...just be carefull and never send any money....It seems to me the most sincere will not ask you for money and will actually get after you if you call to much or give them gifts. I know rare but I have found several. Good Luck!
Try asking for her telephone number and call her up. Through that conversatin feed into her hand and offer her money. A true and good Russian woman will turn your offer down.
I love this subject. I really do!
I also started on Yahoo Personals. At the begining I received several emails from Russian women. I experimented to see what would happen. Quickly came to the conclusion that they were criminals and deleted and moved on. A few months went by and I got 3 more. One had a profile in Miami. I wrote and asked where she lived in Miami, I also said that it was clear from her inability to write decent English that was from Russia. She dissapeared.
I didn't want to lose my other 2 fish so I wrote them. The first was a duplicate of an email I received at the begining along with the same photo. The other (Marina and her 'sexual body') dropped from sight. Irina had me going though for approximately 1 minute. I even corrected her English on the first email. Then I discovered Elena's Blacklist. Her mug was all over it using a dozen names and a dozen cities. I thought it was hysterical.
I wrote back a short email which involved heavy use of the F word and haven't heard from her since.
Isn't life grand?
Because if it hadn't been for her I wouldn't have discovered Fiancee.com which has been the most productive and inexpensive site I have found. For some years now I have had my eye on A foreign Affair and after digging and this forum have come to the conclusion they are the place for a tour/socials. Fiancee is the place for emails and building contacts and Elena's is the place for some solid information.
I have another theory. I think that someone him and/or her works several 'characters' at the same time. If the mark bites on one the others will disappear leaving them to concentrate on one character. Yahoo Personals are wide open to this. All they need is one months subscription and they can cover a ton of territory. Just imagine how many dumb, lonely, night drooling, scmucks are out there who believe in Santa Claus.
She is 28 lithe and sensuous into body oils, inline skating and naked midnight swimming.
He is 52, pot bellied, worried about his 401K and has shares in BenGay.
Are they a match? Let's let the audience decide!
The whole thing is kinda obvious.
You know we should start a new sport called "fishing for scammers".
It could become a point of pride who figured out the biggest one.
"Mine asked me for $500"
"That's nothing mine wanted $5,000 and asked me to pay for a boob job. And I damn near paid for it."
Then we could mount their heads as trophies on the wall.
Shit, I think I just went too far. I always get so carried away and start mentioning decapitation and things like that. It's inappropriate and I apologise.
I also encountered the same thing on yahoo personals. I thought i was talking to someone within 50 miles from me only to find out she was in Russia. i believe she has lied to me about many other things. I read another site where someone posted his letters from a russian woman scammer and my letters were almost identical.
The TRUTH is THIS
1. A russian girl cannot come to the US
2. You must go there to visit
3. If you get engaged after your visit
4. Then she can come to the US on a Fiance VISA
5. She must marry you in 3 months
6. After 3 years of marrige you both need to prove the Marrige is real and sh must become a US citicen and comleate every requirement for that
7. If not she will be sent back and will probably never get a second chance to come back.
This was done to cut back on scamming or a woman entering into marrige just to get in the US, they want it to be for a real marrige only.
1. A russian girl cannot come to the US
Not true. Look up J-1 visa! And there are many other ways too.
6. After 3 years of marrige you both need to prove the Marrige is real and sh must become a US citicen and comleate every requirement for that
7. If not she will be sent back and will probably never get a second chance to come back.
Where did you get this crap? She doesn't ever need to become a citizen. She will get a green card and can keep her LPR status indefinetly.
Probably shouldn't be posting about things you don't know about.
6. After 3 years of marrige you both need to prove the Marrige is real and sh must become a US citicen and comleate every requirement for that
7. If not she will be sent back and will probably never get a second chance to come back.
Actually, it is not quite right. After three years of marriage with American citizen she MAY apply for citizenship but it is not a strict requirement. It is a right of her choice to become a US citizen. By that time, she will have a (second) green card with a term of ten years, which proves her permanent residency in the country.
In the order to get a (first) green card with a term of one year, her American husband and she need to prepare and file all necessary documents, which can prove the legitimacy of their marriage. It can be joint bank account, paperwork of the ownership on property and car, pictures, and reference letters from friends and neighbors. It is a lot of work, time and nerves. But this is how it works in US.
If she doesn’t have any plans to cross the law in US, nobody is going to deport her from the country.
Sunburn numbers 6 and 7 are incorrect. She never has to become a citizen but will have to have her status updated. After receiving her conditional green card she can then apply for permanent green card status. There is no requirement to become a citizen.
Yes, that is the sad part of corresponding with a foreign lady, but such thing happens in England, Germany, and Even America (she pretends to be a foreign national and gives a certain address in a foreign country and ask you to help her for she is in unexpected bad
circumstance etc. It is not just Russian ladies. That happens in other country also. Even in Aermica.
Gentlemen just be careful.
I've read some off you comment on Elena's black list, I have looked on Elena's Model site but cannot find the 'black list' or anti-scammer. Can someone help me find it?? I have a few to check out
