Why do most people search for Russian girls and not other European countries like Germany? What makes Russia so popular? Is because only a few years ago it was forbiden treasure? When I lived in Europe Russian people were the coldest people I have met, they hardly smiled they were rude most of the time and because I was American I got an extra serving of it than they gave to my German and Italian friends. In Europe most people view Russains as disgusting, I personally dont but where did that come from? Russians must be doing something to disturb them. I dated a Russian girl for few months ..but she was...unique, a smiling, hyper little critter. But my friend dated another who was ..Iron. Dun know, just wish there was a more variety than just Russian and Ukrainian.. take care and dont hate damn it!!! I read a few of these threads and seen the bashing done in em'
When was what? I lived in Germany about 4 and a half years ago. I went to Russia (Moscow) about 3 years ago. Though I really wished I could of stayed with my girl, she had to go back to college and eventually we lost contact.
For what it is worth:
The behaviour of Sovjet soldiers -privates as well as officers - entering Germany and Denmark in 1945 'convinced' people that russians were barbarians. And prejudice lingers for a long time.
Bastard_Kid, Moscow is not the whole Russia. Even Russians say that there are 2 countries in the borders of the one: Russia and Moscow. People in Moscow are different, they have higher salaries, and so on. And they don't remember about the rest of Russia. I don't know why it is so, but it is the truth.
A friend of mine, from my city, went to Moscow to study. After 2 years of being there she returned to us, just to visit, for a month or so. We couldn't recognize her at all, she started speaking the way it was hard for us to understand her, I mean the way she pronounced sounds, and so on. She became very strong in character, but at the same time she lost something very gentle...and nice...it was she still, but not she at the same time...
I also think it is another thing, though by saying it I might offend a few people, but here it goes. As you may know prostitution is legal in most places in Europe. Whore houses are as plentiful as strip clubs here in the States are. The thing is though that in almost every country the whore houses are mostly all Russian woman. While I dont know if this is why they feel that way or not it maybe a pre-concieved notion that since there whore houses are filled with Russians that every Russian woman must be a whore.
Actually thats what a friend of mine here at work thinks and I agree.
If the United States made prostitution legal, and Mexicans flooded whore houses everywhere we might think the same thing, all Mexican women are whores.
But I could be wrong, the Russians were brutal during WWII but if I was betrayed by an ally I would be furious too :-)
Pitchka, I am sure you are familiar with New York City, I have heard the same senerios from country folks who move to big cities like NYC. If you ever go to Philidelphia you might actually get spit on or have something thrown out of a car at you, they think they are better than everyone eles and outsiders are generally not welcomed. I was personally spit at in New York by a black man in the middle of China town of all places.
Bastard_Kid, unfortunately I'm not familiar with New York City, and I don't know what life is there. To tell you the truth I'm a very poor traveller, and I have visited only several cities in Ukraine, and most of the time I don't leave my home town. Just physically don't have the time to travel.
Well, the way you discribed Moscow in way sounds very similiar to are cities, but I dont think they do it on purpose. In big cities you live very close together and seldom leave, you gain a since of pride for where you are from, of your city. The believe that the shouldnt be responsible for anyone but them, this is there home,..they made it, and they are working there butts off to be where they are. If you made a million dollars and there are millions of poor people surrounding you are you going to give them each a dollar?
Well, I myself live in a city, I think it is a middle-sized city, there are only 500 000 people and not millions like in Moscow. But I would say that I like living in a city and not in a small one, because I don't like gossips which are always presented in small towns. And I wouldn't like to live in the small town where there are almost no people of my age, only older...and this is not for me too. But I can't speak for people who live in Moscow of course:)
If I had a million dollars, I would check very carefull if the person who asks for money really needs the money, or he wants to buy a new car or so on. And even without such a sum of money, I always do a check, luckily it is very easy to see if the person says the truth or not:)
hey you bastard,
personally, i wish the usa would make prostitution a legalized profession on a national level. it is no big deal in germany.no problems there with it. i was there . if it did happen in the states, single american or married women would have to throw out their playing cards, real fast. as we all know about female sexuality in the states , sex is something they hold over your head and it is something you must earn.
jmoluv
hey bastard,
your name is making me lose it!! my both trips to ukraine i noticed that the ukrainians and they spoke for their fellow border countries also that they had a big disdain for the germans. they said there noses are up in the air. i wonder why, they have a hard time letting go of nazi germany but i notice in most profiles here german is the next most popular language. GERIATRIX , you talk about the soviets , what about the ukrainians when they greeted german soldiers with open arms because they hoped they felt anything else was better than what that bastard stalin did to them? and then the germans turned on them !!historians still wont give stalin the same parity he deserves with hitler.
It is the grossest mistake and deepest misjudgement to assume that people from any particular city are representative of the character of the people of the entire country.
I know many contries do no matter what, but can you imagine if the entire USA behaved, acted and thought like New York people??
The mere thought makes me want to vomit rotten fish....uuuggghh
Yes what you describe sounds like the normal changes one needs to go thorugh when moving to a densely populated city Like New York City, Los Angeles, and Moscow. You have to harden yourself a bit when moving from a smaller town or city to a very large one. I am originaly from New York City. My family moved to so a smaller less crowded city when I was 7. I recently went back to visit my sister and was pretty surprised at how different it was from where I now live. It was like entering a different world. You have ot have your guard up at all times. The people in general are friendly but suspicious and thick skinned.
Bastard:
Well why not Russian women? It's just pref. There are people the want to be with black women. Others will only date blonds. It's simple pref. I'm here because of all the other places this place gives you more for your money.
It might be good to remember a few facts - as for brutality of Russian Soldiers in Germany it was Germans first who behaved with unspeakable cruelty in Estern Europel. Russia lost 25 Million dead in WW2, there was most likely not a single family that had lost a loved one because of it. It is understandable that people in Eastern Europe have no great love for Russians, because they lived under their domination for a long time. That does not necessarily extend to the behavior or character of individual Russian people. Those Russians that I have had a chance to get to know seem very nice people. Yes, they might not always be the most outwardly friendly people alright, but I don't think anyone has the right to judge others unless they have walked in their shoes and experienced what life was like for them. I was under the impression most men here were looking for Russian women precisely because they were not exposed to the same corrupting influence of Western sociey - most other countries were already contaminated, Russia being more closed off is one of the last bastions of "traditional family values", at least as far as women are concerned. Am I wrong?
No, Wess
I disagree.
I'm sure there are nice, friendly, polite and educated people FROM New York but very few of them remaining IN NYC.
It was a NYr who decided to call the middle states "the heartland of america, because the brain ain't there".
Half of my work day is spent talking with people in my industry from many of the continental states.
NYrs (from NYC) stick out like a sore thumb when it comes to unnecessary rude manners, unprofessionalism, spite, arrogance, self dilussions about their grand cement jungle habitat and what seems like a relentless, overwhelming and desperate need to put down the rest of the country and the world in general.
To offset it, I always call TN before and FL or TX after so I can sandwich the rude NYrs with friendlies...:)
Anywho, the original comment about NYC was only an analogy of how incorrect it is to assume one city can represent the character of an entire country, specially a large one like Russia or USA.
I could say same the same thing, but for different reasons, about Memphis, Los Angeles, Seattle, Tampa or San antonio
I have been to NYC a few times and plan on going there this Dec. my luck must be good I have had pleasant experiences with the people there, now Jersy City New Jersey is a different thing. When you ask a NY'ER if there is light at the end of the tunnel they always say no it is New Jersey!
I bought a Peterbilt tractor and a trailer some years ago and traveld America for several years I find good people mixed in with the bad every where I went but i agree it is hard to class a country on a slice of culture..
