With all the oil sitting in Russia how do you people think it will effect there economy. As we well know there is no middle class there because of the select few who clogg it up...so will it be those select few who benefit from the resource? Or do you think it will actually go toward the econmomy and state and improve the economy for the whole? If it goes toward the people how do you think it will effect us foriegners in winning the hearts of those beautiful vixens in FSU? Already the men there out number the women but as you see its not stoping them from leaving leaving a lot of lonley guys there. When thos lonley men start making money..uh oh? :-)
Bastard_Kid, oil will be over one day. There is not so much of it. Of course for next 50-100 years it will be enough, if they don't slow down in getting it. But the money earns the one who owns the part of the land where the oil is. Workers get salary, fixed salary. But unfortunately, their work is not that good for health...so they will be changing each other. It is my IMHO, I'm not sure about it. But I think that not a single owner wishes to put money into Russian economy, at least until they have the same political situation. When people can't be sure, if they will own the same shop or whatever tomorrow as well, or will the government want to take it away.
Well, oil is taxed by the government, a very hefty tax, my question is will the money that the government gets for the oil going to go the the politions or is it going to go to improving schools, hospitals, quality of living, health care, etc.
:))) you see social programms, like improving schools and so on, are very popular before elections. So I would doubt when a candidate says something like "I will make medicine much better" and so on:)
There are millions of ways not to pay the taxes, especially when they are so high, that they can be more then 50% of the profit. I'm not sure about taxes in Russia and especially in oil area, but I know how it can be in some other areas.
Don't you know that there are lots of deputies, staff, guards which should be paid and so on and so forth! So I think that only a small % of the taxes will go into some things that are needed to be done.
And knowing Russian policy...I'm rather sure that they put large money into support of one candidades for President in Ukraine, and these are the money received as taxes. I don't say that Russia is bad, no but official representatives IMHO are not trustworthy.
I can hear truth in that. But like I said earlier, russians are a proud people. I believe there will be a day that Russia will by mighty again. Russia is a country full of resources and are stuck in a bad time. It cant last forever. Look at Germany, after WWI they were is such a poor economical state that a million marks couldnt buy a potato. Then look what happened. Then after WWII they were yet again in an economical slump, but look at them today!!! They're a rich thriving country. Eventually Russia will rise again and hopefully this time as allies to the world. Me being in the military I am in a position where we have to evaluate possible future threats to America, from next year to one hundred years from now. Russia is on that list.
IMHO, if Russia won't forget about it been an empire once, it will never rise from where it is now. OK I maybe egoistic, but Russia plans to include Ukraine into it's empire, and I wouldn't like that happen to my country! After all so many centuries of hopes to be free...and I don't want this wish to fail once again!:)
There are more millionaires, according to the pundits, in Moscow, than in any other city in the world. The Muscovites I spoke to felt the middle class was small but growing. Will Russia run out of beautiful women? The population is shrinking for a number of reasons. However, I understand only 1-2% of woman want to leave Russia. It's hardly a stampede. Don't worry, Kid. Plenty there for you.
You would be suprised how many younger than you beautiful Russian women would pack it in for a decent reliable man, maybe not from the large metropolitan areas but rural and small town areas of Russia. There are over 15,0000 beautiful women, well some beautiful women here at this site alone and yeah there are some that have no intention to get married or leave home either but most would. I get over 100 leters every month from real Russian women at another site asking to be loved. There are sites that deal only in certain towns of Russia where they have to live in the area. Ther are plenty of young Women looking for a good man.
I think you made a very valid point. Russia and Ukraine are seen by many economists as some of the prime future growth areas in the world economy, second only to Asia (China and India). Not only because of its natural resources, but because it is recovering from a low base. Its people rank highly in terms of adult literacy rates and tertiary education levels, in fact I think it may be first in the world for both. There are some interesting statistics in the CIA World Factbook (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/). Certainly % GDP growth figures for the last number of years are much higher than in Western Europe, but I have not compared to the USA, I have a suspicion that they beat the US too.

"Then after WWII they were yet again in an economical slump, but look at them today!!! They're a rich thriving country."
It would probably be relevant to distinguish between West- and East-Germany. East-Germany used the Sovjet model - the same as used in Russia back then.
Today East-Germany is a severe economical problem for West-Germany.
And today's (united) Germany is not exactly 'a rich, thriving country' (although its economy is very much better than Russia's). Many Germans are rich, but the country has some economical problems.
And, not everybody shares the optimism about Russia and Ukraine expressed above.
The only significant change I expect to take place in the east-west marriage/dating situation is a steady increase of western men looking for eastern wives.
Quietcharm's 1-2% of FSU women wanting to live abroad will remain steady.
Davey's GDP growth #s will continue to increase, due mainly to the continuity of international trade expansion and western companies venturing in Russia.
This will bring more western men into FSU but I doubt the social situation in Russia or other FSU countries will change just because more western men seek to date and marry eastern women instead of their western counterparts.
The largest effects of social changes will be more noticeable in the western countries.
In places like southern Calif, which are notorious ethnic melting pots, the importation of eastern european wives is something that does not go unnoticed at many levels.
Talk radio show hosts, newspapers, magazine articles, TV news specials...and more importantly, local grown western women at various shopping lines and salons all talk about the "mail order" russian wife invasion.
Last week, I was waiting in line to check out at Costco with my 17 yr. old son.
Right behind us was a man in his 40s with a beautiful woman at least 15 years younger. She was talking in heavily accented English and looked like the happiest person in the planet. He was trying to speak in russian, but she would not let him. She said: "I need to learn English more than you need to speak Russian, because I live here now".
Right in front of me was a woman in her 30s with a kid that looked like her daughter, aged 12-14.
The woman could not stop staring at the couple behind me. She was so intent and angry in the way she did this, that I did everything I could to stand in her line of sight to keep the foreign lady behind me from having to see such rude and undeserved treatment.
My son was watching all of this take place without saying a word, but taking mental notes.
All of a sudden, the angry woman, with hands ajar said aloud to nobody in particular: "The government should do something to keep these russian whores from getting into our country"
Without saying a word and without letting any of this ruin the good mood he was in, he told his wife to follow him out of the checkout line to continue shopping for something he 'forgot to get'.
I caught my son's head going back and forth from the angry woman with the hands ajar, a kid in tow and no wedding band on her finger to the happy man with the beautiful foreign wife several times.
After 10-15 minutes and back in the truck with the groceries loaded, my son finally broke the silence and said: "now I see clearly why you talk to foreign women....any chance any of your russian or european friends can find me a girlfriend?"
What we do in our quest for a serious relationship with an eastern woman will create a trickle down effect to our own sons who are not stupid, and like my son, are already getting sick and tired of the ridiculous 'man-eating' dating rules western women try to impose regardless of age.
This east-west thingie will grow, but it will be our own western countries that will be changing, not the FSU ones...for the better, I hope.
I lived in Germany for many years and still to this day hav'nt seen anywhere near as nice. Germany is very clean, modern. I was there when the wall fell and actually got to chip and take a whold duffle bag full of the wall home with me. East Germany was a mess when for a long time but as of present it is not so bad and pulls its own. The cost of living in Germany for the last decade has been higher than America. Service members stationed in Germany have to have special pay increases called COLA (cost of living allowances) just to live out in town. A one bedroom apartment in Russia costs what? $120-$130 tops? in Germany take a price of a one apartment in your town in America and add another 1/3 to it and thats Germany. I also lived in Italy and been to many other countries and able to compare. Only my patriotism and my love for my country prevents me in choosing Germany being a better place to live.
re
"Only my patriotism and my love for my country...."
Yes, is it not strange that people feel so strongly for their country - considering that, apart from the people who were standing on dry land when Mayflower arrived, people came there to get away from their (old) contry to get a better life??
good point Toad. Western women should be worried. Quite a few of my male friends, cousins and even my brother are very very very interested in women from the fsu after they have been witnessing my experience. I will bet anything that after they meet her in person in a few months they'll all be hi-tailing it over there themselves in the near future.
I would have most definitly have told theat western whore to shut her trap, I feel sorry for the first idiot that makes the mistake of doing that to me and my sweetheart, boy what a site thats gonna be, lol
Well, I don't know about that. I live in one of the most of not the most expencive places in the US to live. The average price for a home here is approx $400k to $500K and climbing. Rent for a 1 bedroom apartment here on average is $1200 a month. This used to be a place where people came to retire. Not any more... It is very crazy. Can money fix character flaws? Dunno. Can it bring out the worst in people? Most definately!
Crash,
It may not sound true to form coming from someone like me, who loves the mere thought of a good spirited argument, debate or discussion....but what the guy with the young wife did is exactly what I'd do if and when any early menaupasic western sow ever tries to create a judgemental scene like that bitch did.
He took away from her the pleasure of an argument and protected his woman from being berrated in public for something she did not deserve.
As he was walking away with her, we exchanged a glance and a knowing nod of heads. His job is to take her of her, and that's exactly what he did.
I'm sure most men who bring a foreign, pretty and young bride to live in USA at one time or another faces similar situations with family, friends, colleagues or strangers. But unless you're cornered and can't walk away from it, I'm sure locking horns with the idiots is not the best choice.
toad,
have you ever noticed the shock on peoples faces maybe even your friends when you discuss or talk about marrying a fsu women. they are just totally blown away by it. disbeleif, the very first words are (MAIL ORDER BRIDE). it only makes me laugh and if they only knew. when i tell a few select people about going to ukraine they look in horror at me and say why would you do something like that? all the time.
pure american ignorance.
jmoluv
Yes, Jmo....but most people that know me also know I've traveled to many countries.
Even though I haven't been to FSU yet, it doesn't surprise them too much when I tell them that my future wife grew up speaking russian.
They just roll their eyes and give up, knowing I'm up to another one of my crazy trips to some hidden corner of the planet they know little or nothing about.
I just smile and let them feel sorry for me, lol
