Ok Guys hoping for some specific constructive tips on Chisinau. apartments, airport, whether to take a car with driver.... My girl will meet me at airport and says she will arrange a place, she wants an apartment not hotel of course for all the reasons we know about hotels giving the girls a hard time entering and such...
But it is my first visit there... Been to Ukraine, Russia, Romania, etc... and am seasoned but also wise enough to ask for advice before venturing to a new place.... Going between Christmas and New Years. Unfortunately my airline has me working both those days... Any way, Merry Christmas !!!! and Best wishes in all of your searches...
nolimits here are some of the best I have found on line. They seem reasonable and clean. I have not used them myself but they are on my list of better places so far. Hope they help.
Hey Shaggy thanks... This came up rather quickly, having the time and abaility to do it, even just for 3 nights... Benefits of flying for a major airline...
My girl said most were good but they are downtown and my be noisy she said on the main streets. She thought the neighborhoods were fine and they are close to many places of interest.
I did look at the webpage given in this thread - and recall it being similar to a webpage I had looked at before going to Moldova for the first time.
A couple of apartments on that webpage last year, as well as on this one, are actually on the same street my lady lives on (sorry - but I will not list her street address!).
I surprised her by telling her I had written to the landlord and tentatively made a reservation for the one that seemed nearest to her flat.
She confirmed that, yes, it was only a few blocks from where she lived but that she didn't live in a very nice neighborhood. She said that not knowing the language, or the area, or who else I would run into in the dark halls, or who had occupied the apartment before and whther the locks had been changed - she was concerned for my safety as well as whether or not my personal belongings would be safe while I was gone (After all, she said, if anyone even heard me speaking American English in the hallway they would think that there was opportunity ripe for the picking).
She suggested, for all these reasons, that I get a hotel room with the advantage of security.
I paid $56 per night for a BEAUTIFUL place, with three rooms, marble fllors, a bidet in the bathroom - and a huge eleaborate breakfast served downstairs or to us in bed.
This private hotel has only 12 rooms (L think, possibly less) and was competitively priced compared to an apartment. MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE than any of the big traditional hotels which unappoligetically charge Americans twice as much as Europeans.
Jet and Shaggy thanks... Jet were there any problems with having your girl there coming and going, staying overnight etc... This was a concern of my girl about hotels and reason she suggested apartment.
How about emailing or giving the name and ph # of this small private hotel?
Leave on Sunday or Monday... Really appreciate
But trad is a good guy - I know nothing about the apartment he has - but you might want to talk with him about it as well (at least you would know about the neighborhood and who had lived in it (his new-wife) previously).
"But" trad is a good guy - mmm, so he is eh? Have you got any idea what Jet means by that? No idea, but hell, maybe he's referring to your single status, just maybe he wanted to say 'but Trad's a good bachelor'..... ;-)
Wish U2 the best of times, fun and if necessary luck for the coming days! I suppose 'Marry Christmas' & 'Jingle Balls' will sound familiar?
Have fun, and happy mooning with yer Honey :))))
