Well let me give you my most recent example of what American men are subject to. I still have an ancient ad up on Yahoo - though I do not maintain it, do not pay for it, and have not received a real (acceptable) response to it in years. Today though a very gorgeous woman living in a community about 40 miles from me - sent a response though a short "ice breaker". I was surprised enough that, even though I am engaged, I gave her a short reponse back with my email address. It was more curiousity than interest. Well of course - if she is beautiful, and American, and available - you might think she must be crazy (as in insane). Well she appears to be just that. This is the disjointed and almost incoherent letter I just received from her. (Backround - I have not received any unexpected phone calls today.) "Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone? I prefer the errors of enthusiasm to the indifference of wisdom. Not failure, but low aim, is crime. I mean I know how I feel about this but its really hard to put it in words... I think American women are spoiled, selfish, Jaded, Disloyal and have way too much baggage. Maybe someone else can articulate this better then me? I for one have sworn them off, HAHA even my own mother got mad at me about that ~) since she is American... hell I can even use her as an example.... She wants A man that will do everything to please her every whim yet is not willing to deal with putting any effort into it herself... My own mother. They sometimes see American men as rich fools ripe for the taking. If you meet one like that avoid her - but you must know that they are out there. But, having said that, you are right - American women almost universally are spoiled and it gets worse at a certain age - say beyond thirty. They think that they have discovered that they really don't need a man - they think they can do it all on thier own and that they are doing you a favor to go out with you. and if they have KIDS - so much the worst. These creatures are the real scam artists - they want you for your financial contribution to put the kids through college etc. The worst scam artists in the FSU have NOTHING on their American counterparts when it comes to this variation of the scam. FSU scammers only want some of your money....once or for as long as your own stupidity allows. American marriage scammers want much more. Here is the abbreviated general list: 1. all or most of your money as a divorce settlement. 2. the house for which you make mortgage payments 3. full custody of the children you sired, feed and cloth, 4. your pension 5. your savings and investments 6. the best, newest and more expensive of the family owned cars. 7. a lifetime fee for past use of her vagina. 8. monthly expenses for gym dues, new wardrobe, surgical body enhancements, weekly entertainment and outings with her friends to catch her next future 'ex'. The latest I can find are for 2001, and they are the 2nd highest in the nation. 6.6 divorces per thousand married. The words we have to say during the ceremony about our goods and possessions actually have legal, as well as ceremonial, significance. Seem to also remember... not so long ago.. marriage vows including the words 'love, honour and obey'. For too many, honour and obey have been ditched in favour of love...for the goods! Yep. It's pretty iniquitous toad but who allowed this state to come about? Men! Male judges... mostly male legislators... male lawyers. It seems that the original intent to not see abandoned women and children left destitute has moved onto not having the state pick up the tab, irrespective of the merits of any individual case. Now it's, as you say, a feeding frenzy. Like most laws, designed to catch the bad apples, divorce law sucks in too many of the innocent and rewards the undeserving. It is certainly a deterrent to marriage. Hope, obviously springs eternal or you wouldn't all be seeking. Why not just marry for love?. give your worldly goods to charity and feel your manly bosoms swell with this joy of giving to deserving causes. You can then take comfort in the fact that half of nothing... is nothing!! When it comes to making a profit, the thought “My husband will not like this” or “Do I really need this?” is not good business. Hence marketeers supplant such thoughts with “You deserve it” and “Be yourself” and so-on. Why is it any surprise, then, that AW act selfishly? They are only doing what they have been conditioned to do. “Rewarding” themselves. Are the so-called “feminazis” every woman? Having this outlook could be detrimental. Jet, I think you mentioned psychology previously. Isn’t there something about “bringing about what you most fear?” You will end up marrying one who takes you to the cleaners... the new bogeyman to threaten adult males... instead of children... with! I was married to an AW and she came to the UK. The adjustment for her was not easy. How much more difficult for a RW? She had some wonderful qualities but what finished it for me was her fundamental selfishness. Eventually I walked. What was at the root of the problems? Being only one of a number of priorities in her life and seldom the most important. Differing attitudes to money. In short, totally different values. Some AM are in for a surprise. Most RW are not impressed by flash cars, big houses or indulgent lifestyles. How could they be? It’s completely alien. They have never needed a car, think a big house is just more rooms for them to clean and so on.. They operate under a different set of values. I wonder since many men carry their own “baggage”… mainly about being “unfairly” treated again in divorce settlements… whether they should proceed on the RW path? What is the divorce rate for 2nd or 3rd marriages? I think it is worse than than for 1st. Will RW women be any different to AW if it all goes pear-shaped? Why should they be?...they will apply the simple principle…”When in Rome, do as the Romans do”. Maybe, instead of RW, these men should be seeking AW with assets and income of their own. Gained from previous settlements, no doubt, or move to another country where men are treated more favourably.
