I am sorry to bother you with this question. I have met a woman so sweet and nice, but when it came to the point I had to pay for the translation I froze... After all the story's I have heard, I did not dare to send the money. We lost contact.. I also got a mail from her translation-agency wich used the mail adress soulmate@farlep.net , is this adress something like an hotmail adress? Her name was Anna / Anya Dolgoruck, and she lived in Odessa in Ukraine. she wrote me such warm and nice letters, she answered all my questions, and it was easy to see the letters were personal, and not mass-produced. If anyone knows anything about this woman, please tell me... After reading her letter over and over again, I am afraid I did a mistake... Please help me, if I was wrong I really have to do some effort finding her and make it up to her.
Dear member, first of all please use another nickname as it is difficult to refer to someone under this nickname (am I supposed to say dear moron?). Who asked money for the translation? the agency or she directly via her personal email? I have paid agencies for translations in the past. Usually, the woman or the agency don't ask you to pay for translation. Paying for translation is something you do on your own will to help her understand your letters. However, in my case, when I paid for translation, I did not send money directly, rather I placed my order online at the agency's site with my letter as an attachment, then an email arrived prompting me to pay with my credit card through their web site an amount depending on the length of my letter, then after I paid, they translated and sent her my letter with an email that the sender field read my name (not sure how they were able to do it) and also copied me on the Russian translated email, so I could verify the service was provided. No money directly to her or her agency (credit card is ok if agency is using a reputable clearance system such paypal). The bottom line, agree with toad's assessment above, seems you did the right thing. Good luck!
Well, he may be feeling like that because of the girl story, but please choose another name. But, don't put a number at the end like I put 02 meaning 2002, now it's 2005 and it means nothing or shaggy I believe he put his zip code next to his name but what if he moves :)
wtrav02 You are right, I choose the name because it was how I felt. Now I have changed... I hope this is better :) but I had to put in another email adress... :(
<Wtrav02> Well, first of all. They wanted me to send the money by Western Union, I could use the name of Anya, or the manager of the clubs name ( Nataliya Romanyuk ). They don't have a internetsite they told me, because they are only a translation-club, not a agency for people seeking people... Is "soulmate@farlep.net" a usual emailadress for a translation-club? While I am writing this I get a more and more clear vision.. Thank you guys, you have already been a lot of help to me.
I just read this lot and see you're not a Moron.
Western Union of course is a legit way to send money across the globe, however it also is one of the most abused ways to lure you out of some loot.
If you've still have her address (Anya's) send her something which you've translated via an online site? There's plenty of these and, although far from perfect, they really make an entire letter understandable. Oh, and it's free also, no sweat.
If you communicated with her only through that 'club' I'd be wary indeed - why was it free first, and now they want payment?
One thing about WU - the recipient has to ID him/herself when collecting the money, so the details you were given must be real one's. I'd run these through a scammer-site to see if they're 'known' persons (i.e. with a scamming history).
There's zillions Eddressen in Russia only, so asking if anybody knows yours is like finding a needle in a haystack - you're looking for somebody stung by the same needle maybe? No idea who that domain belongs to, maybe you can search for it.
Hi Thunderdome :) Thank you for taking time to answer :) I have been thinking a lot about this, I don't have her adress, only the name Anna Dolgoruck and the club manager Nataliya Romanyuk. But if this was a serious company, wouldn't they have some kind of creditcard billing or a possibility for me to cash in the money directly to an account? I am just curious about what is normal or not... Is it common that a owner of a company use their time running to the wester union for cash? In the beginning she told me she paid 400 dollars a month for the translation alone, and then she could not afford it anymore... No wonder, it must be a lot of cash in Ukraine... It wouldn't be that expensive even in Norway... But could I be wrong?
Hey Norwegian, GO for this one!!!
She is absolutely loaded, promise, don't trust me but ask others!
Come on now, 400 bucks a months is a full (and highish) salary for someone living in Moscow, maybe Spb also, but in general this really is not something which is spent per month on one thing - this fact alone, if you ask me, is a red flag.
Those names sound Polish or Romanian to me - where is she from?
She lives in Odessa in Ukraine.. I have a site that have links to the white pages for most of the countries all over the world, but not for Ukraine unfortunately... If I had it I would have tried to search there... Thanks for the information about the money.. I did not have a clue how much it was for them.. I just figured it must be a lot..
Norwegian...just was curious about your post, read it carefully and totally agree with the advices all guys gave to you....and she seems to be very clever girl if she could managed to make you believe in such a outrageous lie!!!!!yes, Thunderdome is right, 400 dollars is really big money even not for ukranian girl, even for such servise, as there are plenty of translating sites she could use instead of spending her money (i just can imagine how many letters she had translated if she paid a huge summ!!!!:))and for these money it is easier to learn english till fluently!!!!!!!
i was shocked when i saw this price, as even for me, being well paid and working in famous foreign company (i live in the former soviet republic), it is too expensive pleasure!!!!!!!!! and i would never ever waste my money for that!!!! (i told you before, it is much usefull to spend this money for learning english!!!!!)
i am girl, but dont be surprised why i am writing all this... i am just getting angry with the girls whos trying to use YOU (men), that makes you think the same about all FSU women.....
Dont get upset...there are plenty of girls whos looking for love and guys, may be like you!!! and you will deffinetely find your lady!!!!!!!!!!
Never give yourself even the tiniest chance of feeling regret after dumping someone with whom you are NOT happy.
Fill in the empty spaces and moments of doubt searching the gazillion other women available.
time is a most precious commodity. We should not be wasting it on regrets or doubts.
FARLEP is just an Ukrainian internet service provider, so somebody using soulmate@farlep.net has an account there. They don't give free mail accounts as far as I know. Thousands of ordinary legit people have farlep addresses. But there were numerous scam translation agencies (called themselves internet clubs) specifically in Odessa, all using Farlep. They all were connected to internet cafe's, and some also to a well known Odessa scam agency. Modus operandi is to operate under one name until notorious, then close down and re-open under another name. The names you mentioned did not ring a bell though.
Thanks for responding to my question. That is excactly the reason I am a little bothered about this, and might think I could be wrong. The names don't appear at any scam sites, or other places. But as the guys say, 400 $ is a lot of money, and the whole thing has sort of a funny taste in my mouth. I would never forget myself if I was wrong, but I think as the guys that I was not. But you guys inspired me to keep searching instead of surrender to loneliness or a mad Norwegian woman... lol
ERROR.. "Forget myself" should have been forgive myself... I guess you were clever enough to figure it out yourself, but just in case I corrected it :) Sorry
now that the Scandinavian seems to be happy it's between you and me - Welcome to this Forum! Please visit often, it is always nice to hear things from the horses, sorry, mare's mouth :)
But something else struck me when reading your post.
You say you're female, your nick indicates a small frame, and you're well paid. You also seem to have only good in mind, add a famous foreign company....
I know who you are Tiny - you're the Angel on a Rolls Royce's bonnet! ;-))
