I am sure that some of you guys have thought of this and perhaps have tried it, that is instead of visiting the girl in her home country have her come here and visit first. After all people from all over the world come to the States to visit and then they usually go home. I realize this idea has plus and minuses but on balance what do you guys think?
If you will go through this I think you should really know this person, but I don't think you will ever know this person good enough without meeting her. Myself, I would never do it. It is a principle for me to go to the girl the first time. I would never ever ever do it! I am positive the other guys will tell you why... I don't have the black belt in dating FSU women, but I know for sure I would never buy her, or send her money to come here the first time. There is a possibility you will never see the girl at all, and also your money will be gone for good... But of course she can be sincere as well, I don't know her.. But it is almost a little like russian roulette... or Erotic roulette.. Blindfolded in a room with 6 naked women, and one of them is your mother in law...
you have no choice. it is always better to go and visit her. arguments:
- it is impossible to get a visitor visa for a single lady to USA, or most other countries.
you have to do fiance visa. and it needs to be done after you meet her in person.
- at least if it doesn't work you will get fun by visiting another country, and spend money on yourself. treat yuorslef with a nice vacation. there are a lot of girls over there.
tell someone who cares. As long as she is YOUR mother in law I'll play!
But you're not lying about them being naked eh?
BBQ? Hmmm, tempting, but what meat? Some grilled flying things maybe, or halaal clubbed seal? I'm allergic to cat, just so you know, however pu... ah no, let's not go there ;-)
Ice,
don't make a Chaos out of it. Go see her first, her place, work, friends, house, relatives, neighbourhood etc, and THEN make up your mind - which has learned by then, promise. Not the other way round, but it's your prerogative...
Anyone who thinks "Hey ...why not just fly her over here?" really hasn't investigated this thing very well yet. Sounds like you are still in the "Wow - look at all the beautiful women! And they want to write back to me!" Phase.
This isn't a catalog company and really "mail order brides" don't exist (you can't just send away for an FSU lady you met on the internet).
Take Olegnays advice and plan a trip over there. My prefered method is through a Romance Social (that's how I met mine). If you are a little nervous about visiting a foreign country - an organized Social can take the edge off.
The worst that can happen is that you WON'T meet anyone to your liking - but you still will have had a unique and interesting vacation. After all - I be most of your friends have seen places like Italy and France. How many have visited Ukraine or Russia? (St. Petersburg is beautiful and rivals any other historic European city.)
But - if you go - I beleive you will not just have vacation - you will meet someone wonderful.
Bring her here first = I am a coward lazy ass spoilt rotten boy brat whose single mother trained him to pee sitting down and I'm too scared of taking the slightest chance a woman will reject me.
Now, does that clear it up enough for you...or do I have to get nasty?...Ssshhheeesssshhhh.
Take as long as you need getting to know her via mail, phone or mutual gift exchange, but never never never EVER entertain the idea of having a good honest woman traveling into the unkown to meet you....
THAT IS YOUR GOD DAMN JOB....not hers!!
I have principle to visite the man first! It must be trust between 2 people, other way relationship dont work FSU or EU or USA! And I visited my boyfriend first it was just trip to other country not to other planet.
Lets say it in other way. If girl wants to visite her boyfriend she must do some steps too...not to wait when HE organizes everything.
And why everybody speak about sending money. Tickets are sold online, and what about paying for visa...havent embassies special account for that. If girl can buy expensive clothes she can find money for visa, it isnt so excpensive. (Just recently looked the at price, Im going to visite my boyfriends kids and exwife in Florida in the future).
Annika - when last I was in Moldova the price of a tourist visa was $100. The odds on getting it (I am told) are virtually zero - doesn't matter who spends for the application fee.
You come for a Baltic State which is a member of NATO and the European Union - if I recall correctly you are in your 40s (forgive me if I am mistaken) and you either have property (real estate) or children expecting your return. All of these factors make a WORLD of differenc making you eligible for a tourist visa but most single young ladies without children property or jobs in such nonNATO and nonEU places like Moldova completely ineligible for the same visa.
Actually I am making arrangements to go to the Ukraine in May. A friend suggested trying to bring her here. I was just curious if anyone on here had tried it.
Jet,
You just explained a big mystery to me.I think you just solved a question that has been nagging me for the last 3 months. My lady friend had a previous American boyfriend. She ended up with a multiple entry visa good for a year. Shit I couldn't even get that when I was a Brit. 6 months was the most they would give. I was amazed at this because we all know the problem with beautiful Russian women getting tourist visas. However she has an apartment that she owns outright in Ekaterinburg. I guess the responsible job and property ownership is what tipped the scales. I thought that her previous guy greased someones palm, he was very wealthy. She brought her child with her and they bounced back and forth between E/burg and Chicago for a year. Every two months she would return, it was like a bus service. That is how come she was able to give me advice on the trip, after all she did it a lot more often than me. Thanks for the answer.
Annika,
Besides the primary reasons Jet explained to you in such a friendly manner, it is important to note that most western men look for FSU women in their 20s or 30s.
While your age does NOT mean you already have one foot on the grave, it does however, disqualifies you from comparison to most of the women who attract western men's attention.
Also, most FSU women of marrying age do not want a "visiting boyfriend" like you have.
They want a HUSBAND, a FAMILY and a place to call their own HOME.
Unless of course, you insist on comparing yourself to the 18-25 age FSU women group that, more like any other, is filled with girls who just want to have a good time without serious committments, as long as the western man pays for it.
Why in the world would anyone in his right mind pay any amount of hard earned money to cover the traveling expenses of a woman he has never met in real life, never kissed, never had sex with, never shared a meal, never even met her family, closest friends or saw how she keeps her living space??????
Ice,
Don't take my 'almost nasty' comments personally.
Those opinions are not just my own, but also those of dozens of the FSU women I have talked with over the last 12 months when they tell me about men who asked them to meet them in his country, instead of coming to visit them at her home.
And I would be highly suspicious of those women who agree to that, lol.....I bet their passport names are Igor, Ivan, Mikael, Leon and other somewhat masculine sounding names.
If you're not serious about marriage but still want to meet FSU women to test the waters, just go to a Social.
Get your feet wet, meet the ladies, play Casanova to your hearts content and enjoy visiting a new land.
Most of the Socials are held in very interesting cities with plenty to see and learn from. You cannot lose.
Toad - I never expected to hear you endorsing Socials. Thanks.
And izi - that is precisely why some FSU women can get tourist visas. Somewhere (though exactly where eludes me right now) online there is a copy of the manual used by embassy consulate personel to determine which women are likely to receive tourist visas. It mentions that all should be suspected of hoping to stay in the US unless there are overwhelming or compelling reasons to beleive that they will reurn to their home country. Those reasons include responsibilities such as children, family, a good job, real estate, etc. I'm glad I could answer the question that you had been wondering about.
Jet,
Don't get me wrong.
I do not endorse Socials for myself, but if someone is trying to 'get their feet wet', they are a good way to start since most of the planning is already done for you.
Just keep an open mind about them since, like every other approach, they're not perfect either.
Toad you are right...I want to spend nice time (I spend it already just arrived to Holland where my boyfriend works) and one british woman said I look like late 20. So I actually in the age group you described! And I wait till my boyfriend retire and move to Spain or Portugal when I have even more fun! (My bones arent 20 I think they are tired of Baltic cold). I wish to you more fun too...you seem like some bittered 60 years old...
Jet you are like journalist...your articles are interesting about Moldova. Did you know they still have old Soviet Union pasports?
