I am in my late 20's and just traveling over to Ukraine for 1 month. I will be in Kiev some, but mostly in Odessa and Luhansk. I am not going through any marriage agencies nor do I wish to. I was told since I am young that I would have to "beat the women off with a stick" when I go out at night to bars and discoteques. All because I am young and American. I will be with a female friend or two the entire trip, they are friends and are going to translate for me. They say they are looking forward to seeing all these girls approach me, a young American. This may sound all "nice", but I am curious if any of you out there that have been to Ukraine, experienced anything like this? What should I expect? I would appreciate any and all comments!
I've Ukraine, as part of a Romance Tour - which is a good altrnative for those who have never traveled to Eastern Europe before. Traveling with a couple of female-friends however who know the language has benefits too!
Having gone to a Romance Social - most of the women were, admittedly looking for guys who were older than they were, as is the custom in Ukraine.
One of our writers pointed out recently that Ukrainian women don't REALLY look for considerably older guys. The basis for his observation was that younger women only seemed to be with older guys in fancy restaurants or expenive cars - almost never were they seen together in the form of a typical much-older Ukrainian man with a typical much-younger Ukrainian woman on the trolley bus or anywhere where common people hung out. There may be some accuracy to this observaion. But it is still fair to say that Ukrainian women are more likely to consider an older guy than their western counterparts are.
It seems that as the FSU countries become more successful economically or more acclamated to other cutoms younger women are likely to look for younger men and to stipulate that requirement in their profiles. (You see it a lot in the Baltic States, and the bigger Russian cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg. But not so much in the smaller cities of Ukraine.)
But being in your late twenties - you will be an "older guy" to a lot of women. You should do great.
I can vouch for The Paladium disco in Odessa. NICE disco.
and when i was in Ukraine - ddn't wuite have to beat the women off with a stick - but pretty close. ("The time of my LIFE.")
Was sure a lot better than Latvia where the women I met were more likely to FETCH a stick - and that was only if an extremely rich guy was throwing it.
