I currently lost my job, while corresponding with a girl for almost a year now. I have already spent 3 weeks with her in Moscow and we are thinking about marriage. They don't want someone coming over who is going to be on public assistance. That is why not only do you need to show that you have an income NOW that is above the pverty level by some percent (I think its 125%) but that you have a good history of producing income. Most embassies require you to present a letter from your employer indicating the length of your employment and your current salary. Many also require thre years of income tax forms.
