1st - I am military
2nd - going to Iraq
3rd - the father of 3 kids already.
Any suggestions or comments to this that they may be an issue. I do not know how well I will be received in a situation such as this. I know that with the western woman this is not the most marketable person to look for. Thanks in advance for the comments, well the constructive ones anyways. I have read enough to know better =)
#2 should scare the hell out of any woman with enough common sense to realize you may not come back in one piece...or at all.
That alone earns you my respect and gratitude for what you do.
Be EXTRA careful about women who may throw themselves at you regardless of your 'combat zone active' status.
I would add to Toad's warning. Remember, she would not be a US citizen (my assumption about your citizenship), so should anything happen to you before she gets her citizenship, she would have to return to her native country.
Never mind about any of this stuff you just take care over there. Keep in touch with the forum while you are there and I am sure that if you need anything all you will need to do is ask.
Thanks for the comments, Yea I am not looking forward to going, but hey. It is what I do. 6 more years and retirement WOOHOO! The good thing is, is that I am not infantry and such. So my kicking down doors will be pretty limited. I will have interenet connection and limited phone use while I am there so that is a good thing too.
Snow,
I'd suggest you describe what you do over there in as much detail as you possibly can without compromising your job/mission when you write/chat/talk to any of the FSU lovelies.
good luck,
Yes, I do maintian one and it will have no more affect than a wife from any other country. Frankly, I will be so far into my career at that point it will have little affect. Yea, there will be the customary investigation and questions, and background checks. It is just an additional thing that I have to cover than most folks in the civilian world would. Little more paperwork, a little more time. Heck, they might even revoke mine, but they still can't kick me out or take my pay this late in my career. By the time I get back from Iraq I will only have 4 and half years left to retire. For alot of people that do not know, you do not have to have citizenship to join the Army. I had one soldier awhile back that was Colombian, and I also worked with a SSG (Staff Sergeant) that also was not sworn in yet as a citizen. I am a SFC (Sergeant First Class or E-7) just to let you know.
it is a decision from a judge on a guy maried to a Russian woman for a clearance. He ofcourse has many other issues there. It came up in a google search I did strangely enough.
Well that is interesting, Of course my situation is slightly different. I may have to wait till I retire to find me a FSU woman or wait till I am like closer to retirement. Hmmmm, what to do what to do.
It is something to consider. As I live in the DC/metro area clearances are a concern. I've been trying to talk to as many people about it as possible. DSS, as expected, is very vague. According to them it depends on the country they come from and how much family they have still living in that county. DSS doesn't make the final decision though they only collect information. Sorry if I bummed you a little, jsut trying to help :).
Was sitting here at work reading the forum as usual, and being a bunch of noisy military people as they are, my bosses mostly, had to come over and look at what I was doing. Of course they immediatly started giving me crap about "mail order" and such which I laughed at them for since they have no clue, but then one of the officers that I work with chimed in and informed me that he was married to a Russian female that he meant 2 years ago, not in Russia, but another foriegn country that I am currently to tired to remember right now. Among some other things I ask him was how it effected his clearance and he said it didn't at all and he even checked it out before hand to make sure. Hope renewed!
My question is of a diffrent variety about children. I love raising children and all mine are grown and to me the greatest feeling I get is being a dad.Someone the kids come to with problems or to just talk to not to judge but to listen and be there. I wouldn't mind if she has children but for the life of me I couldn't stand by and marry a woman but she had to leave her kids behind in the FSU. It would just crush me. Is it easy to get the kids to come with the mother over here? does it take longer? What is their immigration status? Same as the mothers?Anyone have expierience with this? Yours truly
Sandman,
I do know that the father of the child has to agree in writing to release the child or children to the sole custody of the mother to leave the country. This i know is of the Ukraine.
Yea. Same in Russia. Written permission from father. Usually not a problem. Childs details are included in all the mothers visa doco's. Mind you I am talking from New Zealand experience. The men don’t seem to worried about their kids leaving.
I can tell you, I doubt if you would fine 1 FSU mother that would leave her child behind. They are with out doubt the most doting mothers I have witnessed in the last 30 years. If you did find 1 that would leave without her child, I would give her a wide berth !!!
The issue of children as stated above is true. Children visas are part of the mother's visa. She need ony secure legal guardianship of the children (father's permission) before htey can leave their native country and before they can enter the US.
Although securing the father's permission is usually not difficult, you may encounter a father that will try to squeeze some dollars out of you first.
This is something I broached with my ladies early in the correspondence. As much as some men here will tell you to not send money to a woman you have never met, so that we do not encourage the women to scam us out of money, so too should we not pay fathers for their permission. This only encourages the behavior in other fathers. I refuse to pay a ransom and I let them know it early.
