I am corresponding to a woman and have been for several weeks she mentioned she likes the singer "dido" so I went and bouhgt her a couple of her cd's and I want to mail them to her. I know the U.S. postal service isn't exactly squeaky clean on "missing" items but for the large part stuff gets through. I was wondering what the odds were of them actually making it to her and what if I sent it in a larger box with other stuff in it? Will it be "inspected" before she gets it, if at all? Will the fact that it originated in the U.S. be a signal for a feeding frenzy for the leech infested (read corrupt) waters? or will it actually make it to her? She lives deep inside Russia, like Barry Bonds deep. Yours truly
If the Russian guy checking your mail also like Dido, you are in trouble... :))
I cannot speak for every single package being sent to Russia, but I also tried to send CD's at 3 different occations. Two of them came to the right place, the last one..? I guess may be in some livingroom of one of the guys in customs...
Someone told me that all packages and mails are being checked through a light to see what's inside. If it is true or not, I don't know for sure...
To Ukraine I first sent 2 letters, none received... My friend told me to write the adress in Russian instead of English, I did, and that letter arrived...
I sent a woman in Nickolaev (5)$20's hidden in a false wall glued to the inside of a fedex envelope. No problems except it cost over $80 to send it and three weeks to arrive by fedex.
Don't send money. I lost 5 x $100notes. Had them sealed with a laminated photo of her and I between card and the photo. Used Global Express Post from NZ. I was able to track it all the way via the internet. It arrived on time (approx 4.5 days) But hello, it had been opened and money gone. I have heard they can scan for $$. Someone once mentioned puttng between Carbon paper. I is not worth sending something like CD's, normal surface mail is totaly unreliable and the other means, as above is very expensive. Western Union is the only way to transfer money if you have too.
I agree that Western Union is better than sneaking money through the mail. I got lucky, you didn't! I now use Western Union even with their so-called deals.
I have sent at least 6 packages to the Ukraine and only had one tampered with and 50 bucks solen from it. Sending money is certianly a bad idea. Of course it sucks paying 27 dollars in postage everytime.
we send a lot of packages via USPS. no problem. it usually takes 5-7 days to be delivered.
you will have to specify content in the custom form. do not price it more than $100
dhl, fedex are 6 times more expensive than USPS.
Yes, I think USPS is fine. I have sent photo CD's to Russia and it takes about 7 days and cost was very reasonable. I have received documents from Russia and we have used DHL as we trust this more than Russian post, and we can track the package. It's more expensive but for important documents it is worth it.
WOW Those must have been some really special and heavy envelopes you sent using US Postal Service. The CD's I sent cost me less than $3 and arrived in 7 days. DHL envelope from southern Russia cost $60.
I have sent letters and packages containing music CD's and a birthday gift by regular USPS to Ternopol, Ukraine and depending on the weight I do not think I ever paid more than $10 and arrival time is less than 10 days.
