I just returned from Ukraine today. AMF, will mean my friends. I now have a Ukrainian Fiance that I absolutely adore. After almost a year of writing and visiting this last visit was spectacular. I just wish to thank all who have helped
me along the way. Anyone who does not go is missing something special with these
ladies. I won't be posting much here anymore I have many things to do to try to
get Larisa here by Christmas. Again thanks and if anyone who would like information
can contact me by my email. nasfan6@earthlink.net. Have a great day!
o you want details Scott?
Well the trip went fine, except the flat tire on my truck and the Ukrainian Gestapo
at the Passport control. Who had to run my luggage three times through their machines,
because I declared no gifts. I guess they didn't want to believe this capitalist pig.
They found nothing. Her ring I wore around my neck and with my mothers as a keepsake.
When I finally got through the inspection I grabbed my luggage and saw the most beautiful woman standing in front with a single rose in her hand. She had an idea
that I was going to ask her to marry me, but I did it pretty much tongue in cheek because she has an incredible sense of humor. We took a taxi to the Sherborne in Kiev,
which I will highly reccomend to anyone going there. Their services were fantastic and
they treated Larisa like a queen. They go the extra step to help you secure things, such as concert tickets, theatre tickets and such without an additional fee for their
services. The apartment was perfect, they call it a one room, but it has a private
bedroom and kitchen and many amenities. Also, I had been told that it was not convenient
to stay there and that is not true. We were only a block away from "The Tube" or underground train and you can get anywhere in Kiev using this in about 15 minutes. So you can go together anywhere for about two gryvnia, which is about 40 cents usd. Also
bring your good walking shoes, these ladies walk and they do not tire!!!!!!!!! I really
understand why these ladies look so incredible, Larisa is 43 and looks in her 20's, they
eat healthy walk constantly and complain very little considering their living conditions. I had never been to Larisa's flat until this trip. For us in the US it will take you back a bit, they have very little amenities that we are so used to. The housing
is deplorable, but she told me, it is life in Mariupol and she doesn't complain. I told her I would send her money to move to a nicer flat which would be about 1000 gryvnia a month and she refused, she said it would be foolish to spend that money since she was coming to the US in a few months. Just think of the worst housing project in the US and it is better than most have in Mariupol. I think the Robert Taylor homes and Cabrini Green in Chicago would be 5 star compared to many in Mariupol.
To have some fun, I bought this cheap diamond friendship ring for about 80 dollars and gave it to her as an engagement ring. Well that backfired on me, Guess I'm used to western womens attitudes, she acted like it the greatest ring in the world. She told me
in her region getting an engagement ring was not customary and she never had one before
or even a wedding band. Well the next morning before she woke up I tried to slip the real rock on her hand and woke her up. She asked me what I was doing, I said nothing but
I think the diamond fairy brought her something. That led into a 20 minute conversation
of what the hell a diamond fairy was. I couldn't take it anymore, I said look under your
pillow. No words, I saw everything in her eyes. I heard a deep breath and saw a small tear in her eye, she tried to speak, I told her the only word I wanted to hear was yes.
So many Da's later I understood I had found my soul mate. I have never had any connection with a woman like I have had with Larisa, nothing in my past life compares to how this lady treats me, respects me and adores me. It is very unnerving even till this day.
So some of the events we did, Went to see Patricia Kaas a french singer, this was good because my french is Horrible and my Russian barely works. Larisa speaks,French
Russian and English. The intellect and education of these women are incredible. Along with a visit to a wax museum in Kiev which I have pictures with some of my Favorite communists such as Khruschev,Stalin,Gorbachev, Lenin,Andropov and the like. I hope the
sarcasm comes through. Tour the cathedrals in Kiev, they are magnificent and rich in history which the Ukrainians are very proud of. She asked me what I wanted to do, I told her just to be with her and let her be the tour guide.
Mariupol was a bit more relaxed, we did the theatre and cinema there ate dinner out constantly, except the nights I decided to cook. Prices are extremely cheap in Mariupol
compared to Kiev. Credit cards are widely accepted in Kiev, a little more difficult in
Mariupol, with the exception of the nicer restaurants. Which in Mariupol is very cheap.
I took her and two of her friends to dinner and drinks and the bill was only 156 gryvnia. Watching Leonardo DiCapri speaking Russian was funny in Aviator. The theatre in
Mariupol was only 28 gryvnia for both of us, compared to almost 100 in Kiev.
I met with a representative from her agency, I was going to write through them, but she explained their prices were high, so I have decided to buy a laptop for her and pay for
her internet service. So now Larisa has resigned from her agency and we are on are own now. I was suprised by the agency not wanting the money, so now I have reduced my level here to basic services.
The reason I won't be here much, is one the visa application and two, I put off remodeling my home until I knew the direction Larisa and I were going. So we spent a
couple of days looking at the furniture shops, as they call them there and she gave me
the ideas of how she would like her new home done. So our home will have a Europeon
flavor to it. She still has difficulty in understanding two bathrooms in my home, a
dishwasher, a washer and dryer. The washer and dryer confuses her, she washes by hand
and uses a centrifuge to wring out water than hangs them on her Viranda to dry. She
amazes me in the fact she has very little material, but is an extremely happy woman.

She is a little frightened about coming to america, but her mother and friends said she
needs to go because they know I adore her and would always give her a good life, not just in material things but in love.
If you go to Mariupol you can fly in there at almost anytime, but they only have one flight to leave each day to Kiev. So when I left I took a cab to Donetsk for about 180 gryvnia. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do was watch her walk away before I caught my plane. I am 100% an alpha male, but I could not fight back my tears. Must be love fellows, because it is something I have never done before or ever felt before.
Mike ,
I am glad things worked out for you. What do you have a sign over your head when it comes to authority?? LOL. Good story to read though. And by the way, I never said Sherbourne was a bad place . I just didnt want to walk 15 minutes to Kreshatyk. Me and my date was walking on a snowy feb 24 evening through that park where the Marinsky Palace is and walking back towards Kreshatyk and i still never saw the Sherborne and was looking for it. I just wanted to be a stone throw from the action and not freeze walking there.
Good report Mike (hope you don't mind 1st mane basis from a rat)
All the best and pray you have a smooth ride through the Red Tape waves. They are definably different women aren’t they. You talking about the washing - walking (shit can they walk) They never complain eh ??
I hunt 2 days a week, on very rugged and steep country, so am pretty fit, but I get totally whacked from walking with them, must be the hard surface - or perhaps it seeing all the 2 legged Deer's !!!!
only by reading the above even a newbie can see you're a changed man.
Having gained a woman don't tell us next you're going to give up your petrol-addiction... ;-)
Wish you well, godspeed.
Rat, First name is fine with me, I've been called worse. Yes Ukraine has some of the finest two legged deer in the world, I just happen to be lucky to have the finest. Oh that's just my point of view.
Thunder
I will give up many things for the perfect woman and Larisa is that to me, but she does have an understanding that my petrol addiction is incurable!!!!!!Hell she tried to find an american newspaper on Monday for me to see who won the race on Sunday. Now that's the perfect woman!!

Congrats on your trip. Ditto Meister the Golden Domer turned me on to an Attorney Named Roth from New York, no my friend I'm not going to do this on my own, the 1500 bucks is well worth his reputation of getting it done 100% and he said that a December arrival for her was realistic if I process now. I'm a smart guy, but he has connections in Ukraine so it is money well worth spent to get her here as soon as possible.
....A LADA???.........now I know it must be love....:)))),
hope all goes well Mike, keep in touch if you can (low priority I know!)once again, good luck to you both.
I'm happy for you Mike, I wish you both the best. Roth is THE best. I'm even thinking about putting him on retainer to do the rest of our paperwork in the future. I did the home remodeling bit as well Mike =) Probably did it mostly for resale as we are building a new home that we are planning to move into in about 4 months. I as well probably wont be here as much anymore. Good luck to all
Talked to John Roth this afternoon.
I'll be sending the retainer tomorrow.
Like I suspected, the Migra does not look kindly on fiance visa cases with wide age gaps where only one meeting has taken place. Ours is a difference of 22 years and we have just met, even though we've been corresponding, chatting on ICQ or talking on the phone since 8/03.
This is not a deterrent for me in any way, but I'm bracing myself for battle if it comes down to it.
I liked John Roth's 'no smoke up your ass' approach to this visa process.
