Author Post zsar Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 3/25/2005 3:28:43 PM   Anyone out there ever travelled by rail in Ukraine?, I may be going to a place called Melitopol and I have read that it takes about 15 hours from Kiev by rail, there is no mention of air travel, and I wonder is it ok to travel by yourself there, is it safe? or maybe I am being too wary. Had a sleeper car. I would say it is safe with a sleeper car. Buy one that you don't have to share and don't eat or drink anyone else's food. My ticket was about $13 one way. You must also pay for sheets and blankets, maybe $2. You want either a first class (2 berths) or second class (4 berths). Bathrooms are at the end of each car. Doors are lockable (I recommend). They have a flight that leaves at 1910 and arrives at 2020. Zaporizhia is just north of Melitopol.
