The lady I have been writing to has a friend that lives in America. Her friend lived in Russia until about 5 years ago. The friend has documents to bring my lady to America on some type of Visa to work. Her work in Russia correlates to this American job. Can this happen? If so would we be able to marry once she gets to America? How long is this type of visa good for?
"H" visa is for 6 years (3 plus 3). But then you marry her she will get "the first green card" not in 6 months but after 1 - 2 years. They slow down that prosses.
The boss of my friend's husband made "H" visa for her, and then they get married in the US.
I do not know about permanent "green card" because my friend, who came on "H" visa, is going back to Russia and is not going to come back to her husband.
I have been through this process. As soon as you are married you can apply for a temporary work permit. Then you will get your first interview. Meanwhile you can work.
After the interview you get a 2 year greencard. Exactly 2 years later you get your next interview and you no longer need a sponsor. 3 years after that you can apply for citizenship.
Facts - I did it.
