What makes you think I am still jetlagged?? Because I am up extra early on a Sunday morning making posts to this forum??
Yes!
I need coffee then I am going to open another can of worms.
Another, in fact the 1st, 'discussion' that I had over there was about chidren essentially. I am not going to go into details but once again my mind was changed by some clear thinking that I needed to hear.
I would like to have a child of my own in particular a son. To cut a long story short we talked about the possibilities.
Adoption came up and I was reminded of Toads cut and dried response to this on the plane.
Adopt he said!!
Just like that plain and simple.
God moves things in mysterious ways, I firmly believe this. My job is to listen and not offer too much resistance. While I was there I saw on television a program about the conditions in Russian orphanages. There were a bunch of unmarked graves where 12 of these little guys were buried. It was an investigative reporting kind of program. Bottom line is that there are any number of these poor kids that are treated pretty piss poorly by the state run institutions.
I was very moved.
I come back to America and discovered much to my surprise that my company will underwrite expenses to the tune of $8,000 !! Also there is a $10,000 tax break.
Now I have to find a way to bring this subject up with Marina again. It is dificult. I feel it is something that should be addressed and addressed now. Little tricky though.
Not to worry I'll figure it out :))))
After reading about Marina's resistance to new pregnacies at her "advanced" age, I also thoguht about we talked about on the plane.
There is never one way of doing the 'kid thing' that works perfectly for everyone, but adopting does sound like a solution that could satisfy everyone's needs and concerns.
Heck you would even eliminate the odd of Marina having another girl.
Exactly.
She suggested a surrogate mother deadly seriously. She said it is no problem at all. Actually I don't think that she would have that many problems but why risk it? This way you save a kid from a pretty bad start in life or even death, avoid a pregnancy and all that entails and the insanity of the first few years. Plus the Russian roulette aspect is totally removed. Also because of my 'advanced age' I get a leg up on the process. 70 years old with a 17 year old running around might not be too good. 70 with a 25 year old not so bad.
LOL, yes, talk to my father in LA...he just turned 79, he has a 27 year old son, my half brother Michael...He can tell you all about being to old to deal with a teenager..:))
Actually I wasn't referring to that but I'll bite. How is the old fellah? Does he regeret having a son late in life? I bet he wouldn't swap it for the world.
