I touched on this in a thread when Natasha got here but I didn't want to resurrect that thread. I just wanted to prepare my US friends here of a good possibility of what will happen when your lady arrives.
When they stamp her visa she will get a big envelope full of paperwork for immigration to go through. Like I said previously I arrived and hour early because I had to drive 2.5 hours just to get to the airport. Her flight arrived from Frankfurt and I waited anxiously as I watched all the Germans coming out. It was easy to see as every other flight was from Spain or Mexico or Brazil. It wasn't until about 4 hours after her arrival that she appeared. They wouldn't let her call me at all. They took her to a room and told her to sit down and relax. In that time I went to the Lufthansa counter, called the 1-800 custemer service #, talked to airport immigration security, airport customer serice... everything I could think of. Believe me I was having a heart attack. NOBODY could give me any information. They went through every document of hers several times over, questioned her and I think cleared everything through the Embassy that issued her visa. It was a long process and really stressed her out. Just be ready guys in case it happens to you.
I really appreciate that info Crash. Everytime I come through American immigration I am taken to that little room and locked up until they make their phone calls. I am an American citizen but still I go through this, my passsport is flagged and it is now all smiles and routine. But I remember the first time it was terrifying.
If and when I get Marina here I don't want any surprises. Thanks.
Why not?
Make sure you insist on staying with her while she is being interviewed. locally by the Migra. Carry all your docs with you.
heck of a confidence boost for your lady.
But then again, what the fuck do I know...ask your visa attorney!!
