To those of you who've been in Russia recently: Does this strike you as remotely possible, given what you see in the streets, bars, and restaurants? I'm quite suspicious of it. To each their own of course, but it does matter to me, and I just wish they'd be honest. Looking on the internet I've found all manner of smoking "statistics", even one claim that up to 40% of female senior high-school students smoke. I met a man on a flight who was pissed that a women he spent a week with from Elena`s Models Agency was a heavy smoker and drinker when she advertised she was not . Admittedly mostly cigarettes mind, so my cuban stood out a bit. Also, be wary if they say they don't smoke, they might already be past that stage and either sniff or squirt. Hey, but if they smoke they also know where to buy the fuel, whatever is going there, and when you visit these be sure they'll be able to lead you to the real good stuff. I myself am on intravenous coketails, so messing with smoking high-school students I regard as a bit childish, I'm past that. Unfortunately your statistics has little to do with the real situation. Very many young women smoke. Actually as I counted nowadays there is a tendency that our men smoke less than women. One good thig is that really all this smoking usually ends with graduating from highschool when girls seriously decide to marry. Still mother's instincts are very strong in women here. Well, another thing that crossed my mind is how many prostitutes are out there on dating sites :) The level of prostitution there is off the charts, and I would guess many of these women have the ambition of landing (in figurative sense) an American or European. But then a stress situation arise they start smoking again. All my friends from russian - american marriage smoke. I am the most recalcitrant non-smoker ever. Can't stand the smell of it and it makes me almost sick having to smell it my hair or clothes if I have to be around it. I did smoke till about 20 years ago and I guess I developed some sort of allergy against it. It is what it is and I did not hesitate scratching off any lady, FSU or domestic that liked lighting up. It's a health issue, as far as I'm concerned and I'm glad Calif laws are so strict against it in all public places. Maybe because of cost but a few did but I did not personal;y take any out. Finding one that does not was not difficult. One of Lena's best friends was very surprised to know I never do. Yes, I know it will be shocking... I really don't care if they smoke or not.. I don't smoke myself, but if the girl is sincere, warm, caring etc.. etc.. I think smoking isn't the worst.. I have met 5 women and none of them smoked. Personally, I hate smoking so I avoid any woman that says she smokes. One woman stated she did not smoke (on her web page) but admitted in her letter that she did smoke, because of stress. But she insisted this would not be a problem because she would not need to smoke in America! It tells you what some women think of life in the west. Working in the mortgage industry, half the office smoked like the proverbial chimney. Some of them ONLY smoked at work and others started smoking after starting work there. A year later, that letter still makes me chuckle!!! Bastard_Kid Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 5/10/2005 11:02:03 AM   Well, I smoke, I am Navy and that is the only excuse for at least a 5 minute break every now and then from a 18 -14 hours work days out to sea, and the only excuse you can have besides using the bathroom every hour or so that worked tto get you out of the 140 degree heat of a engine room.
