The reason we go there is because most of us have an economic situation that allows us to do so. "They" don't... Also most of us think it is important to meet in live, and it is also neccessary in order to get the visa's.. The reason they don't come here and hook up is because they can't get a visa for it, and I also don't think most of them have finances to cover a stay in western Europe or USA long enough to hook up for real any way... This was the short story, when I know excactly what you are asking i will try to come up with a better answer.. The reason they dont come to visit is because while they can get a visa it very difficult to almost imposible for them to do it, though a few of them do. Business Visas are the easiest. It is also customary for you to meet her family, just the right thing to do right? Also gives you good time to make plenty of picutures together which you and her will need to start making a fiance visa if it ever comes to that. However my lady friend did come in and out of the States on a tourist visa that was for a year. She bounced back with her daughter every 2 months or so. She is an expert on Frankfurt and Paris airports. Don't ask me how she got the visa I have no idea. I am still trying to figure it out. It had nothing to do with being pre 911 or anything like that it was dead straight forward. Personally becuase of this I would never discourage anybody from giving this a try. However don't you want to meet her family? Would you like to see how she lives? How about can she cook or keep a house? Before you get all womens lib on me Annika it is an extremely valid point. They are shared tasks but some women 'share' more equally than others. Believe me I know. My Marina said that she was not going to participate in traveling around the world to meet anybody. The reason is that she has already done it and knows how grueling it is. She cannot get time from work like I can and she certainly can't afford it. She also says that anybody that is interested in her expresses it with actions not words. She has some very good points.
