This could really help People that want to find love
and are not sure they could afford the cost's involved.
I will never put money ahead of Love,
But there are people that could go broke
trying to find there love and be hurt
more in the long run.
So my main Question is around how much from begining when you first emailed
to the time she gets to you, Does anyone have an estimate for those unsure
if this is what they want?
I herd story's on here about how much to carry
and I agree if your bringing 3000.00 dollars with you
your asking for trouble...
You will have to consider Dating site fees, letter translation costs if any, flowers and gifts, phone calls, plane ticket to see her, invitational visa fee, taxis, restaurant bills, and hotel or apartment charges. Then after arriving back home, you will probably hire an immigration attorney for the visa process, more phone calls, giving her money to get to the embassy interview and if she travels far you must also give money for a hotel room, medical exam fees, visa application fees. And then buy her a plane ticket when she gets the visa. My girl has a child which makes it much more expensive. I'm going the cheapest I can go and wiil be spending in the neighborhood of six to seven thousand dollars. After they arrive, they will need more clothes, wedding rings and the wedding itself. The boy will be attending a private school here and that will cost $200 a month. Every case will be different. There is not an exact figure to give anyone. Some people will be able to do this cheaper than myself but I think that $10,000 just to get them here is a very realistic amount.
This is a curly one - One.
It's a bit like the "how long is a piece of string" I wont say how much I have spent, as it would probably chook Ya. I have been on two prior trips, for 1 month each time and going again in 10 days, this time for a 2 month stay.
I went with an open mind and an open budget, to a point. I wanted to look at the sites and feel the culture and country as well as meeting ladies. I know $50US per day, is a struggle to spend, unless you are buying gifts etc. I mean in general – eating out etc
Accommodation is the killer. I can't understand the Russians on this one. They don't encourage Tourism that’s for sure. If you are staying with the women, then huge saving BUT not a good idea on meeting No1. If you both click and everything is cool, then good, and you stay with her, you will have a very inexpensive visit in FSU.
My upcoming 2 month visit, will be less than $5,000US total. That’s cheaper than staying at home here and freezing !! We are going to look around Crimea and also go to Moscow for 1 or 2 weeks. But all the accommodation is cost literally $000.
Yeah, I got pretty lucky, Im staying with Elena for the two or three weeks I am in Russia, and when we are in St.Petersburg we are going to stay at her brothers place, the only place I'll probably be spending any money at all for a place is in Moscow and the cabin we plan to rent out on the lake. Yeah, it might be kinda messed up but we are meeting in Moscow and I am not buying her a seperate room and in St. Petersburg why pay for a seperate room if it worked out well in Moscow? And then its off to Yoshkar-Ola. I dont plan on spending more than $2500. My girl can speak English, she tight on money like me,..why spend the money if you dont have to attitude...love that. Well, take cares.

You pose a question that is almost impossible to answer. How big is the sky?
Dale and Maxi have only scratched the surface of it. There are so many factors involved that it is a case by case deal.
Where does she live?
How many times are you planning to go and see her?
Will you be using an attorney or doing applications yourself?
Where do you consider the process ends?
Do you have expensive tastes?
Country or city girl?
Does she have money or are you footing the bill for everything?
How is her English? i.e. will she work straight away?
Does she have a child or more than one?
Is she umbilically tied to the 'old' country necesitating a trip back every year?
Are you going to support her for a year or more without working so as to allow for an aclimatizing period?
I think Dale is being cautious with $10,000 it could easily cost more than that.
This year just with dating site fees, 2 airfares, visas telephone calls and spending money I have gone through about $3,000. Nope that is rubbish I have spent closer to $4,000 I was forgeting gifts.
That does not include 2004.
I'm not done yet I am going back in November in addition to my July trip already included in the 4 grand.
I have $10,000 put aside specifically to support my new wife through the first year and bring her over. I will need airfares to Moscow for 2 people, the INS fees, incidentals, 2 x airfares to the USA, new clothes and things for Alina to go to school with. That is just the beginning. I will also give Marina $40 a week pocket money and $10 for Alina. It isn't much but I don't think she will need that really. Anyway it is all I can afford. Also my food, electricity and gas bills will go up. She needs to be cool in the day and to get around. I nearly forgot as soon as she starts work I will buy her a Hyundai or something.
It is an expensive business One. However I think it is worth it. I think that Marina will be a very dedicated "into the pot" kind of girl. Never had that with my ex wife. Therefore when Marina settles down and starts earning after a year we will quickly recoup the outlay of the financial effort of being together. I'm not worried about it.
All of this is not as bad as it seems or I wouldn't be doing it because I am not a wealthy guy. It happens piecemeal and the big outlays are for the trips over there. That is where frequent flyer miles and advice you can get from this forum come in. Once you start this process you will see that your focus of attention will change and you will rearrange everything around this. I did and I haven't regretted it yet.
You all Bring up so many good points it should give people an Idea
Of the cost's Involved. I agree With you IZ that if you find True love
and once she gets settled and can work you Recoup 10 full of what you invested, Plus the love and respect Unmatched. This topic gives new members
the general Idea of what is involved. Now it is up to you to decide who much you can afford to lay out.
$15,000+
this amount doesnt count all the future trips I will be making to Russia with her. Thats part of the deal with me. When I took my ladies hand I accepted the fact that I will see Russia many times in my life.
BUT if I would have married one of the American bitches that wanted to marry me in the past I would be out $700,000 or more
After all is said and done the trips, attorneys and bringing her over her will end up around $12,000. Now that's not counting remodeling my home. Her taste is a little different than mine. Thank god I know how to do this stuff myself. I will still have around $30,000 in that. It's funny how she doesn't like carpeting in a home, so the house is divided up with new wood floors(bamboo)and tile and stone floors. The unique thing is her kitchen style is completely European, small and functional, not like us, having large kitchens and working areas. Vinyl siding, forget about it, so I have been to a couple of quarries here looking at stone and stone veneer. Possibly bricking my home but she hasn't decided on that yet LOL!So she has taken the role as construction boss, that's what I call her. She is selecting the tile now for the bathroom and wants steps built for the jacuzzi tub. I hate doing f**king tile!!!!!!!!I cheating on the floors with precizion edge tile from Lowes, pretty neat stuff. Real tile and granite on a locking backing board, no adhesive to mess with, just grout.
Where does it stop ???
As I said above "how long is a piece of string"
I will have to purchase another home, we cant live where I am living now. I will never sell this place - shoreline -Inner Sounds Tranquillity. I do not even have road access. This will become our Dacha.
So another 300K for a family home etc etc etc. Half a million should do it !!!!!!!
All the dribble aside - If you find someone compatible and committed and will pull her wait and assist with all the red tape etc, 10 - 15K should take care of the initial find - secure - united family - stage
You kill me Nas. I am tiling right now in fact tonight I will be 'glueing' some more of the bastards in. I am remodeling also but I can't afford to move Maxi. Got to grin and bear it. Same as you it is a good job I do this stuff myself. Anyway if you want a home projec done right you had better do it yourself.
Marina is astonished that I consult her on all this. She says I have good taste and she agrees with me. I am not having it. I want her opinion. It is very much part of the bonding process. This must be 'our' place not 'my' place. Interesting about the locking tile/granite stuff. Maybe I can use that for countertops i can't afford granite in the kitchen. My money is going somewhere else right now.
Here's a typical response from a lady from the FSU that doesn't understand the behavioral patterns of american women and I don't totally understand the mindset of a Ukrainian women. When Larissa and I became involved in remodeling our future home I told her that this would be a temporary place to live and I wanted to build her a new home on the other side of my property. So she has been choosing the decor and the furniture and etc. Then I said to her, boy you will have fun building your new home. She looked at me funny and said why would I want a new home, when I have spent so much time making this one to my liking and It will be brand new anyway, well at least new to me she said. I had to step back and think a minute. American womans response, "Screw this dump buddy, start building the new one and while you're at it get a second job to pay for it." The great thrill is I don't know what to expect from her at any moment. She takes great care of everything she owns, her clothes etc, because she stuggles financially. She is one of the brightest human beings I have had the pleasure to talk with, but she has this simple side that I adore so much. She was concerned with the price of remodeling and she said she didn't want to make me a poor man. I told her, as long as she was in my life I would never be poor.
:) WOW No kidding American women oh by the way the second job you get
make that one full time also :) because honey your going to need it when I dump your ass and me and my new boyfriend live here>
Oh and by the way I sold the old house so if you could get an apartment
that would really really help me out :)
Nas hold that women tight let her know you love her everyday
because my friend you hit the lotto.
Thanks I know this. She is a remarkable woman in every aspect. Yes she still has certain qualities as any woman, but she is so genuine and she appreciates attention and affection. Also One I call her everyday and I tell her, Ya Lyublu Tebeya Moyo Zolotse. Which translates, I love you my gold! Also Te poslana mne bogum. I thank God for you.
:) I like hearing about happy things in other peoples lifes, It not only inspires us and gives us lots of hope. is there a russian dictionary translated to american? I have read it is so hard to learn there langauge
that next to the chinese langauge it's the second hardest one to learn.
Izi- You are quite right about my cautious estimate. I was giving that figure for all the people who are going to be frightened by the amounts they will see here. I am just saying that it can be done for under $10,000.(1 trip, 1 romantic dinner, fake diamond engagement ring, and so on)
Mike- You and Izi aren't the only ones remodeling their place by a Trans-Atlantic supervisor. I will have to check out that tile you are talking about. I have already finished the kitchen with a new tile floor and and hung new cabinets with lighting. I am starting on the bathroom now.
OKM- What a great idea! A Russian dictionary translated into English (not American, we actually speak English) We'll call it a Russian/English dictionary. :o) I have heard it's very hard also. I know a little but not much. I am up to a couple of hundred words now but that is not even near enough to hold a conversation with anyone. When Jenia comes here, her and her son promise to teach me more. I'll need it because I would like to be able to talk with her parents and her brother.
It's pretty slick stuff. What would be tedious and take a lot of time with precision edge is done quickly. Lowes is getting a good chunk of my money right now. Yes those trans-atlantic supervisors are something. I have a Manila folder with her drawings, it's funny with these ladies how detail oriented they are about things. I have drawings with foot notes and every little detail is described to me. It touches my heart, she says it's the house of her dreams and it's just average joe american home in the country. What we take for granted is anothers fantasy.
LoL Mike, I did the whole remodeling thing before she came. Shes here a few months and now we just broke ground on a new home. She has assumed the lead role in this project, she feels comfortable with this role bacause I'm the builder.. =/
