SoccerDad, follow Toad's advise, write "I want and will correspond with a lady speaking English on A+ level, 20 years younger than me, having a computer at home, able to write and call me evey day. I will never send you flowers, gifts, monetary help until we are married or meet in person first, live with this." it will work, believe me.
One small "but"...
You should care to live in California, state in your profile that you are more than a "pretty rich guy" and attach a photo where you would stand in your big office with huge golden letters "SOCCERDAD INTERNATIONAL INCORPORATED" on the wall!:-)
Guys, be realitic, you are already around 6000 on this site, 2/5 of the girls ammount. If a lucky handsome guy from California gets good responce rate, it doesn't mean that a guy from Idaho having a small beer belly and 2 kids will get as many letters.
Hummmm...
I have a home office with no signs, a small 'martini' belly, three (3) kids and I have never EVER told anyone how much money I have or make, specially on a profile.
I have never sent any romantic gifts or flowers until I chose Lena over all the other ones. And that took over a year of knowing each other via e-mail, ICQ or phone.
She is also 22 years younger, not 20, and we have TWO languages in common, not just one.
Felice, you forgot to add that men are better off looking for women who have a bare minimum of international travel experience, as well. It does wonders to have an open mind about learning and understanding cultural differences.
If western men werent't so gullible or dependent on agencies and the overpriced BS they sell, only the reputable ones would have a reasonable chance of staying in business.
And I will send Lena some money for the first time next week for her to buy her mother a birthday gift that complements the one she already bought for her. How about them apples?
Soccer,
You need to know that Felice is an agency operator from Belarus and his early postings here dating back to last year are part the reasons why I swore off keeping contact with agency dependent women from FSU.
One man at least (don't rememebr his name) from this forum, used his agency services and was happily married. I hope he still is.
Toad, you are right. I forgot to mention that the girl should have at least 1 year experienc ein living in the States!:-) Actually, in your place would thank God every day for finding Lena. She is a unique person even not talking of her personality which I am not familiar with. Agree that it is almost impossible to fing another girl like her. Well, I knew only one such girl. She is my ex-wife and now she is in the states!:-)
It is damned hard to find such a variant for a man from the US. be frank, you have found a half-american woman already, who has the understanding and feeling combined with experience of the US and on the other hand not spoilt yet by the "Fast food civilization". This is really unique. You know, my own fiance is a kind of this unique mixture. She has lived in the states for 1,5 years.
Toad, I wonder how all the rest people who are dating a girl from some russian town in the center of Voronezh region would struggle to explain to her what is a mortage, why the fact that a guy has a Corvet does not mean that he is more well-to-do than a guy driving a Toyota, what is the difference of life perception of you and us(you still don't understand it yourself). I have seen so many cases when women were just frightenned with what they read and men were so puzzled with women's reaction... I try to bring two worlds togeather. Believe me, I am probably one of the least nterested agents here who would struggle for the white name of the agencies. Now simple dating business is not more than 10% from our overall revenue(we mostly deal with tourism). I just know and want all the men know that in many cases it is important to have a friend here who would know the difference between a village in the USA and in Russia at least.
I bet it is the best variant if a guy manages to find a"Lena Liwski" but what if she is not?
One more thing to think ower. In the last 2 month our girls received two almost same letters from an Astralian and a Dutch. They both were writing to these girls for 2-3 month then dissapeared and they wrote that they found "wonderful" girls who asked them to send them money for air tickets to their countries and they were waiting in the airports like fools. I give you my hand to cut if something like this will happen to a girl from my agency or to any girl of the agencies I personally work with.
The only villiage I've ever lived in was incorporated outside of Chicago. We don't have villiages here Felice. As per se villiages in Russia or Ukraine. I am one who corresponded through an agency and I have a different opinion on them than Toad. I have stated this in another post. Agencies are like the girls, some good, some bad, I'm not going to throw the baby out with the bath water. My relationship with my lady wouldn't have gotten as far without the help of her agency.Caveat Emptor with agencies, as Toad says due diligence and that goes both with the girls and their agencies.
Jmo. Do you have some shame to tell this? Has C.R. ever asked you for money??? If she decided to end the correspondence with you(not only with you actually but with everyone) did she have to answer all your questions first and then write, "You know, this is ower." Show me somebody who would spend her time on this.
Nas. Exactly! But this needs explanation. For us any settlement which has less than 1000 people is a village. Countryside is also translated into Russian as a village area. You know yourself what picture would appear in a woman's head when she reads "I live in a small settlement just 1,5 from Chicago. The place is very safe and has around 700 inhabitants". I bet she would think you are a farmer!:-) This is what I call "vision difference". Such things must be explained to the girls by someone whom they trust and who understands what is boiling in their heads. You would not care as you think it needs no explanation. Toad's Lena will not need this but 95% of the rest gals will need a good lecture!:-)
Felicedate,
oh you russians, do you see now what we mean when you people have no sense of humor ? This exactly what i am talking about . The asking for money part was a joke. You missed the whole humorous point i was trying to make you feel. anyways , like most of them , they for some reason avoid simple questions anyway . It is almost as if they are stupid or they can only answer one question per letter.
Felicedate,
I will bet money that men got tired of writing to her because she misses questions or feels she does not have to answer questions at all.So what was her point of writing letters? To show she likes to ignore you? That is enough to make people lose interest as i lost mine . What are we writing to people for ?? To get to know each other or to act like we dont? Go figure
Felice,
You're wrong.
You know the russian universities and linguistic institutes are literally filled with women who speak western languages.
English and french being the two most popular languages they study.
They see it as anessential tool to earn an opportunity to see first hand some of the world their parents never had the opportuinty to experience, among other reasons.
Lena is hardly 1/2 american, although she did spend 2 semesters living and studying as an exchange student 6 & 7 years ago.
Her cultural awareness and mind in general has expanded much wider than that.
Her work as a translator has taken her to places like Lybya, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Korea China, and multiple trips to France, Czech Republic, Austria and other western european, african and asian countries that right now I cannot even remember.
Even though she is much younger than me, she has traveled to at least as many different countries as I have (36), maybe more.
THAT is something that puts her on a class of her own, if that's what you mean.
But she is far from being 'americanized' in any way, shape or form.
I still have to repeat is different way and at different times the concept of owning cars in California as beig equal to owning shoes in most parts of the world.
I said many times that when looking for a suitable partner, water seeks its own level. People do too. And Lena and I are no exception, even though I could hardly believe I could find that level in someone so young.
What the hell...more power to us., right?
It is not hard at all to find women who speak western languages.
Lena is an adorable ,well educated, well mannered, well traveled creature with and open, disciplined mind and a loving heart.
But she is far from being the ONLY one available, people.
Fine, she maybe among the smaller percentile of her population. Still that does not mean you cannot find one like her or even more suitable.
And she does not have a computer at home, she uses the one at her work.
Felice, I understand perfectly what you mean about the awareness or mentality of a villager. In early March I visited Pokrovske, on the way to Tobolsk to see Gregory Efimovich's birth home... Not a single two story building there. less than 1000 people and we only spend 3-4 hours there, but I assure you that I found more hospitality, educated people and individuals with personal dignity than with most americans I know who drive a corvette..:))
Mine has never had an English speaking boyfriend before, only took English in public school, and only really had practice (previous to me) talking to the boyfriend of her best friend. She lived with her bedt friend at the time the girl had this boyfriend. He was actually German - but the language that all three people had in common was English.
And she speaks nearly as well now as many Americans I have ever met. And she gets better all the time.
Next point - the village. Whever I do something less than sophisticated (which isn't often ;) ) my lady will say something like - you're like you're from the village. It is her most extreme insult - so far anyway. She actually had me run around to take pictures of the taller buildings in Green Bay to PROVE that I did not live in a village. For the record, we even have one over TEN stories. Yup, a regular Metropolis.
Also - with reference to the point felicity made above about "she might think you are a farmer" (or soemthing she said). THIS could very well explain why the ladys on my Romance Tour were not especially impressed by my postcards. You see, along with personal pictures I wanted them to get a feel for the state I was from, Wisconsin, so I bought some picture postcards. Wisconsin is the Dairy State and known for its cheese and cheeseheads. So naturally the postcards showed dairy cattle and sprawling farms. The girls all seemed to politiely snicker when I showed them these. Interestingly, the lady I eventually ended up with never saw the postcards. I was too enthrawled with her beauty, or she was the last one before the Roamce Tour was over and my previously arranged date was waiting for me. Take your pick. She only saw the postcards a year later. Coincidence? Hmmmm?
Last, izi - have you ever thought of maybe chucking being an apartment manager and becoming a comedy writer - or something along those lines - thart might be more creative? You are hilarious (and that is meant in a good way.)
So, how come some of the letters I write get read then a week or more later a response will show up. Is the agency reading the letter and then getting a hold of the lady and waiting to hear from her? Is there a back log of interpreters for the emails? What causes the big delays.
I have also noticed that not all questions get answers. Is this also part of the way FSU ladies correspond or are they told not to answer everything asked? It seems almost better to write very short letters with only a couple of questions then have multiple questions in the same letter. What are your experiences with receiving answers to your questions?
