Well my house is a mess right now, I'm going to run and get an attorney and sue myself. Jesus, you'd think countries would have more things to worry about whether a man helps clean his house or not. This one tops it all. I'm remodeling now and the mess from sanding drywall and various things out of order from the norm just drives me absolutely insane. I'm not Felix Unger by any means but hell this is ridiculous. Larisa is an order freak, so I'm not going to worry about too much in that department. The big thing and I checked on this, was her Amoire, you'd think a Marine lived there, shoes and boots in order of height, coats the same, dresses and blouses cordinated. After we would come in from going somewhere she would polish her boots. My closet is neat, but not the same way she does it. We both hate doing dishes and I did them most of the time I was with her except at the Sherbourne. I promised her part of the remodeling project would include a stainless steel dishwasher. I think that has her thrilled more than anything, even more than a car! She hand washes her clothes and spin drys them in a centrifuge and hangs them on her veranda. What amazes me is her clothes look better than mine when I pick them up from a dry cleaner. It is funny the difference in our lifestyles, she is really excited about having a dishwasher and a washer and dryer! The things we take for granted is another persons dream.
Lena has fun reminding me often that she will be the Queen of the Kitchen and that if I want to cook I will need to ask permission, get an appointment and fill up an application that requires a notarized copy of my birth certificate, a clean bill of health from my doctor and 2 passport photos.
I have no problem with that.
Gotta love a woman proud of her homemaking skills.
And yes, cooking and cleaning are skills to be proud of...:))
Sharing some of the household chores is no big deal for me. Never was.
Whatever level of sharing she ever needs me to help her with will be a far cry from the methodical, pissy and manipulating way my past wives or other women intentionally planted themselves in front of the playoff games with some "honey DO" bullshit list that for some mysterious reason needed to be done 'right now'...
This is a great subject !
My mother started teaching me how to do all these things from the time I was 6. I cook, clean and iron better than most women. I have lived alone most of my life disregarding my wife of 12 years and a couple of live ins. I am used to doing this. It isn't a problem. I certainly would never expect anybody to be my private butlerette. It rally isn't that bad. I have a dishwasher and use the washer and dryer on my floor.
When I was married the place was always a mess. It was not because my wife would not clean it was that she is the lady that has the newspapers piled up to the ceiling, a dozen cats and boxes all down the hallway. I have pictures!! :)))
She would try to clean but she had so covered every surface with knick knacks and bnoxes of her art stuff and Wicca crap that it was a maze of pathways :)))
I, just like Nas, am remodeling. I am sick of it and have not been able to muster the gumption to do anything for a couple of weeks. Partly because of the inertia caused by my breakup with M. Today, nursing a hangover I will venture into the hole of doom again and play with the tiles for a bit. Once it is done the apartment will take on a new life.
Until I wreck the next room!!
I do my best to keep it clean though.
I rented a room to a guy who could stupid for America. Still money is money. He has been helpful.
Anybody see that movie "Under The Tuscan Sun"?? I absolutely love this movie. For a million reason, Fellini, romance, comedy and it shows places I have been and I get nostalgic. When she gets the Tuscan house she says that you must choose one room and make it your own. Then work from there. She is right. I did that until an emergency forced me out and I rented my extra room. Now unfortunately I literally live and sleep in dust and materials. The extra drywall lives at the bottom of my nice new bed!! It is right next to the sink on the floor and the vanity sitting drying my socks on at the moment!! :)))
This place will be beautiful when I am finished and will not have the clutter that my ex injected into the fray. I will have a maid clean eventually. My new Russian wife will step into a very nice situation. Once again Marina you are sooooo stupid!!!
Incidentally I haven't been blitzkrieging the forum because I have been too busy. The one in NY wants me to go up there, I thought I got rid of her!! I now also have a real sweetie in guess where? You got it Ekaterinburg. I have known her on and off for 6 months. I also still have Miss Moscow another in Chelyabinsk and yet another in Gomel. So Izi has been busy. What is a boy to do?? Decisions decisions!!
Regarding the Spanish legislation - RIDICULOUS!!!!! You cannot regulate something like that it is impossible. Now I am going to take my cat for a walk.
If I read the report correctly, it is aimed at making divorces more punishing for males because the judge now has one more reason to fleece the male..."You did not do the dishes on time. Bad Bad Bad husband...Pay all your pesetas to your angelic wife that has sacrificed so much for you.."
When my older kids lived with me they were both capable and willing to do their laundry as well as my own by the time they were 6..."you can fold my socks while I cook your dinners. If I have to do it, it means you go hungry...Bow Bow Bow !! (Blues Brothers lyric)
They did laundry, learnt to cook, make their bed, clean dishes, take care of the dogs, rake leaves, sweep the floors, clean the fridge and an endless list of other regular or ocassional household chores that always had priority over their favorite TV shows.
About 3 years ago they went to live with their mother.
She decided that I was a slave driver and to teach me a 'parenting lesson' refused to let the kids do any household chores...none!
That lasted about six months. When she realized she was creating lazy teenage monsters, she panicked and tried go back to the way I had taught them.
Too late..!!
"..But Mooooommmm...you told us Papa was a slave driver and a bad parent for making us do house chores and now you're trying to do the same thing to us!"...(hehehehehehe)
When they come to my house, they act as if they have never left chores wise, but at her house they will not lift a finger to do anything...LMAO!!
Izi I can relate to the dust from sanding drywall and remodeling my house. I have integrated one room now as my living area, it is my living room and bedroom all in one.
As for clutter, it is interesting, Larissa's designs are very linear and very clean, something I'm not used to, maybe it is the European flavor due to space in most living areas is minimal. There will not be a shread of carpet in the house, wood floors and porcelin tile for the bedroom and living areas. She says it is more sanitary. The kitchen design is very european, Stainless steel and the space is used to a maximum. I told her kitchens in the states are much larger. The working space she has proposed for the kitchen is about half of what mine is now. It will be a very unique home when it is finished and one that will be easy to maintain.
Being as I don't have a particular lady at the moent I please myself. I want carpet in the bedroom. It will hide up one of the worst tile jobs I have ever seen in my life.
Nas
I didn't put that tile down some blind guy did. I checked out PE it is expensive stuff. I am using regular tile and taking my time. When I bought this place in Jan '04 the master bathroom besides looking like the Brady bunch had lived there was sporting a small whirlpool bathtub. It had been tiled out by the guy and was the worst piece of shit I have ever seen. He had the gall to tell me that he did this for a living. I told him at the closing that the first thing I was going to do was rip it out. His jaw dropped to his knees, he couldn't believe me. In the process of taking it out I found all kinds of fun stuff. I have been at it since Feb last year and am nowhere near finishing. I have had this thing back to the studs and concrete. Rotten steel studs, lousy ancient wiring, terrible drywall and on and on. Aforementioned joker had covered up the problems not fixed anything if anything he made it worse. Plus those 1974 builders did the worst job I could imagine. Who in their right mind uses drywall in a shower, not greenboard even, regular drywall!! Ever seen a shower pan made of roofing felt with no preslope?? Unusual and bloody stupid.
Ever built a shower pan from scratch? If you do it right you will take forever and even then it isn't perfect. I am tiling out the shower stall right now. Most of it is done now I am tackling all the intricate little bits. The step, window and the insides of the door jamb. A mutherf....r. A million cuts.
The floor will be normal tiles with a medallion. 2 Medallions for the floor in the stall also. I plumbed in a washing machine dryer, and redesigned everything. Redid all the plumbing and electrics. Everybody in Lowes knows me by my first name and has memorized my credit card number.
Whichever woman gets to use this shower complete with body washes and overhead rain shower better appreciate it.
Interesting Jacuzzi, bodywash and overhead rainshower on Ebay. I almost bought it, but the Construction Boss prefers the jacuzzi and shower to be seperate. I looked at Pittsburgh corning Glass block showers, pretty damn awesome but a tad bit expensive. The 550 square feet I had to tile with Precision edge was well worth the extra expense. I bought bamboo flooring off of Ebay for 1.94/square foot. That was around 700 square feet. I layed the kitchen and living room with tile and did that in a day. Wouldn't have done it with adhesive and grout that quick.
