I have a friend that is writing a woman(young girl)in Ukraine. He is wanting to visit her in a month and asked me about getting or needing an invitational visa for Ukraine. I couldn't tell him anything since I only went to Moldova and the visas can be purchased there at the airport. What must he do to get the Ukrainian visa? I know that there are many who can help out with this simple question. I just hope that all of them match!
I have always applied directly to the Ukrainian Consulate. Since he needs this visa in less than a month he will need to apply for an expedited visa. Here are a couple of links. The first is for step by step instructions for filling out the application and the 2nd is for the visa information page at the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington DC.
I guess I am assuming that your friend is a US citizen. The fees for applying for an expedited visa are a bit steep. My last visa was processed and returned to me in less than 2 weeks time and I did not pay for expedited processing. Regardless I don't think I would gamble on such service if I was leaving in a month. One other item of note, the consulate one applies to depends on the state in which you live. I live in Wyoming and apply to the consulate in San Francisco. There are also consulates in NYC, Chicago, and, of course, Washingto DC.
Dale, look at www.ukraine-visa.com. I have used them twice and was happy both times. The regular processing is a 10 day turn around not including US or Ukrainian holidas or weekends. No letter of invitation is needed.
I used them as well and had no problem except I forgot to include a return envelope but they sent my visa back to me COD and it all worked out in the end.
I just received my visa. It took a week with expedited processing. One thing, If you leave it to the last minute and try to call them for information you can forget it. The people that answer the phone are zero help. Best thing to do is get it early.
