Has anyone been to Odessa Ukraine? Can you recommend a good not overpriced restaurant? Any good disco's with a good female to male ratio? Any good beaches to hang out at? Has anyone worked with the (Allforlove) agency in Odessa? Scammers? Honest? To talk about Agencies you can email me at deanis1010@hotmail.com
Best disco: Paladium. Best restaurant (Amerian style food avaolable and very good prices) "Whiskey" Steak House (name is incomplete but its something like that. I know of no other restaurant with a similar name.)

I went there a couple of months ago and must say that it was not a happening place. However there is much construction going on. The city is a couple hundred years old and a bit seedy. The stretch of the Black Sea I visited wasn’t that impressive but it will probably be a happening place in 3 to 5 years since they were building lots of new hotels close to the sea.
Who is this Kate Krat? An intepreter? Agency manager? Thanks Jet for the information. I'll make note of it. Yes, I've heard the city itself is not in the best shape. I will be there in August which is the peak time of the year to be there. All the girls in Ukraine take their vacation from mid July to the end of August. Odessa becomes the Miami beach of Ukraine during that time. Crimea is also popular but I want to have the marriage agencies in Odessa as back up. Thanks again and I'm looking for more information or opinions from anyone.
Deanis:
visited Odessa last year with my wife.....we travelled from her home town of Kharkov to spend a week there,as she had often told me that her vacations were spent there and I was naturally curious to see what is what like for myself.
As far as the towm itself goes I can only agree with Ice and Jet.....bit seedy, but no doubt due to Odessa being such and old town with not a great deal of investment in many years, butgiven it's location and climate, the local government have realised that with so many foregin tourists now visiting something had to be done to attract some dollars and euros!!
There is quite a bit of work taking place now,and I would imagine a great improvement even since I went there.Usual rules apply though....take your time choosing where to go,quite often the best places are a little out of the way.Jet's recomendation is a good starting point though......good food......good prices and quite a friendly place.
Bear in mind though that opinions are just that......what is good for one may not suit you,but having said that, let me wish you good luck, and an enjoyable stay.
glad: Its nice to know that you found that particular resaurant as well. We ate there four times during the two weeks. They were always friendly and helpful and the waitresses took quite a few pictures of us - at our request.
If things do not work out between my fiance and I - and I realize that there is certainly that chance - I will go back to Odessa (perhaps my favorite place on earth - even if a bit seedy as glad mention).
I will add that you should be sure and use sunscreen if you plan on hanging out at the beach. I made the dumb ass mistake of not using sunscreen (never forget the stuff but I think seeing my girl in a bikini confused my thinking) and ended up with a hellish sunburn on my legs. I was in such pain later that I couldn’t put any pressure on my left leg. The last two days I spent with my girl was not what I had expected do to the sunburn. My girl would not get in the water she said it was dirty.
Jet:
great minds think alike huh?
If things don't work out...(and I really hope they do),then next time you visit Odessa let me know and maybe we can meet up for a few beers or something...:))
Deanis,
I met Kate Krat personally in her office in Kyiv. I think i turned icechaos on to her if i am not mistaken. She can handle all of your travel and personal needs throughout the FSU. She speaks perfect English and is late twenties and quite pretty. Her accent is almost sounds a little British but she did indeed live there and work there also.
Sounds like a great plan, glad, IF thing don't work out (and I seem to be a lot less sure of things than the rest of our "graduates" were - I realize that.) Always regretted NOT thinking of looking you up when I was in London and met TimH. maybe we will still have our chance in Odessa.
Jmoluv - my fiance has a distinctly British accent when she speaks English. It is quite comical to listen to sometimes. She has this sarcastic way of saying "Very Nice" that you would SWEAR was coming from an English woman. The reason, of course, was that her english teacher was from Britain.
Deanis,
I have had a couple of women from Odessa and my former girlfriend who has business there also talk about a very popular place called Arcadia. It is i think right on the sea with outside dining and an outside disco. I hear that Odessa`s finest women are there to style and profile and of course the women out number the men. If anyone here writes to Odessa women, ask them about it. I dont know if it was there when you were Jet.
Thanks guys! I've made a note of everything you wrote here. I have heard of Arcadia. It's a street along the beach full of dance clubs. Just bought my flight and have reserved my apartment in Odessa. I'm also taking my private Interpreter from Kharkov with me. We will meet in Kiev and then travel down to Odessa together. I've worked with her for two years now. Thanks again!
jmoluv - have never been to Arcadia but if I go to odessa in the summer sometime (last time it was fall) I will certainly visit it as I had heard of it previously too.
I went to Odessa in May for 9 days, and I have just returned from my second trip this weekend. (guess why I returned)
Arcadia is a great party place like people say, and Paladium was very good.
If I should recommend a romantic place to eat it must be "Dacha" (www.dacha.com.ua). It is the most idyllic restaurant I have ever been at, especially in the eveining. You can sit outdoor and listen to live music in the garden. Date a girl and go there, its a winner.
I have totally fallen for that city, and I am going back by car in late August to meet my girl again. (Moldovan girl btw)
The city could need some paint, but it has a beauty you just have to experience.
Sounds like a good report Norway. I am starting to lean towards Odessa instead of Kiev . After 4 trips to Kiev and no cigar it is time to try something different . I strongly feel a social in Odessa with at least a ten day stay should be a good opportunity for me. Keep us posted elman , Norway
A smaller night club, Evening Odessa on Pushinskaya Street, is very popular with about a 3 to 1 female to male ratio. Honestly, the larger clubs like Palladium and the large beach clubs are, in my opinion, ripoffs with ocverpriced drinks, too many working girls, and poor service. Also, there is a good club, Club Magnolia, on Frantsuzsky Boulecvard which attracts many students and it also has about a 3 to 1 ration of men to women.
I have been in Odessa for 8 months and have gotten to know eveery restaurant in the city center, and many outside the center. Log onto (deleted as advertisment) for some good information.
An American friend of mine who is a well known resataurant owner in Connecticut also lives here and is opening a restaurant at Hotel Frappoli on Deribasovskaya Street which will be open 24 hours daily. He owned another restaurant i nthe city but had a dispute with the landlord and closed it. The pizza was GREAT. Other itmes on the menu are equally good. He has trained his staff well, and his line cooks offer the best tasting food you'll find in Odessa.
