I just plugged in 12th Aug to 28th and ft Lauderdale to Odessa. It returned $675. You know it is a crock. So I called and despite the fact that they say 'ready to take your call 24 hours' there was nobody there and just a recording that the office was closed.
I smell con!!
You are right Izi, orbitz is not the way to go. You can fly from NY to Kyiv on Areosvit for $1800 round trip, business class. I think coach is around $800...this is their everyday fare that you can find on their website. I am thinking you could fly to Kyiv then to Odessa alot cheaper than $1600.
Thanks Bill. Good advice. However think of it this way. First you have to get to NY, then you have to get from Kiev to Odessa! By the time you factor all that in there is probably only $100 in it.
Although that is better than nothing that is for sure.
Bill
I checked that site out and they only have business class at $1700 a pop. There is no economy flights available all the way through August. Oh well back to Orbitz.
Spirit
Just checked ASAP again. I think they are a bait and switch outfit. There is no way on Earth that you can fly from Ft Lauderdale to Odessa in August for $675. Highly suspicious. That wouldn't even cover the fuel.
I never use these flight websites you men rely on so much. My cheapest flights are dealing with the airlines directly. And they are the cheapest for me .
I had to take it out to 26th August and the price dropped dramatically. $778. Fantastic.
So with an additional $300 for a round trip to NY that is about $1100. That is the same price I paid to Ekaterinburg in March.
However I see that if I take it out to leaving on Sept 2nd it goes to $678 a total of about a grand. Thanks for the tip Bill I really appreciate it.
You did better than I did, I kept comming up with around $1600. But you knew what kind of lattitude you had with the dates. I was going to suggest moving :-). If you are going Aerosvit you should be happy with their service.
If you are going to Kyiv then Odessa Izi I'll give you an idea what to expect at the airport. First bring a pen...no...bring two pens, it will make life easier. You will have to fill out a form for passport control on the plane before you land. As you walk down the passage way from the plane the first booth you come to is passport control (no smiley faces here). Once you clear that hurdle you claim your luggage. There are some kiosks between the luggage conveyors that have the customs declaration forms, they are in different languages. After you fill out the form, there will be two lines for customs. Just read the sign on the wall and it will tell you what line you need to be in. After you clear customs there will be some double dooors exiting into the terminal, when you go through these you will have to run a guantlet of taxi drivers. You need to exit the international terminal and walk to your right to the local terminal where you will catch your flight to Odessa. Same building you just have to go out of one and into the other.
I just checked that site out and put in from KC to Cario and got a price of 785, but you have to call some number. I am sure that there are a bunch of strings attached to this deal.

When you fill out the passport control form you best have a magnifying glass with you. It is a little bity piece of paper that I couldnt see without a magnifier.
IceChaoe, that site is a fake, I checked for my flight and it was 675 online but 1400 when I called; they quote the lowest possible fare online but then tell you what fares are available when you call.

I used Aerosvit (God what a name!:) and got back $678. They are probably plugging into the same airline database. However I tend to agree with you. The airline ticket booking industry is notoriously bait and switch.
It is $500 and then you select it and oops!! It is actually $1500. It is typical.
Well,I am going to contact AsAp tomorrow to find out what the little asterisks mean. I see that the business class flights are at least double,or more in price. I know there is a better price out there--just difficult to find.

I'm glad to hear you are finally going to Ukraine. You'll love it.
I just got back from Yalta spent 10 days there with Larissa. I will go back again. Yalta was as beautiful as Forteleza Brazil and less expensive. Had an awesome hotel, it is worth taking your girl there. She'll love you for it. Larissa should be here in October after her mom returns from Switzerland. She is moving into her mom's flat since her lease ends in September and then she will be on her way to Indiana.
I just got an email today from Dittus, Valentina got her visa and he will be on his way to get his lady. Hang in there Izi good things are coming your way.
