Hi all! I am new to this forum and have done no more than email via fiance.com so far. Therefore your advice appreciated! I have spent quite some time over past weeks reading old threads so I have gleaned a fair amount of background.
I am corresponding with 3 women via private email and am convinced they are genuine because of photos sent and a normal letter style dialogue. It just rings true. Up to now I have insisted on private email as I don't like the idea of an intermediary. So after initial contact I go straight to private email else no further. Initial contact has been by the woman so far.
I strongly suspect some of the emails I have had from agency girls are not genuine. I mean no real person writes like that surely, even allowing for translation. Also, why is it that you suddenly get three letters from girls from the same city? Is it to do with the way catalogue details are released?
Surely there is a conflict of interest because the agency gets money from correspondence, I bet the bulk of its income (going by quoted success rates)? I stress I am not accusing anybody but surely it must be hard to resist taking a hand in encouraging membership upgrades for example, by obvious method.
However, I am now wondering whether I am missing genuine opportunities by insisting on private email.
I have read on the forum it can be difficult/expensive for women to get an email account. Just how true is this?
I have in mind Izi's warning from the other excellent thread that I will end up with an impossible geographical spread. Given that a visit is essential it looks like I am going to have to change my modus operandi or be prepared for one hell a lot of travelling (and expense) in the FSU!
I suppose what I am asking is can you trust the agency email service?
guitarman, agencies get very little for correspondence on this site. they are not paid for first letters. if you open a letter and see that it is not real. decline to continue, or reply with concrete questions. if you are VIP member you do not pay for correspondence. if you still receive generic type letter, email to site support. we want agency to be an internet cafe type club that helps ladies without computer knowledge and internet access to communicate with you.
ladies paid membership to use agency service anyway. so you are missing some opportunities for sure. not everybody knows how to use internet over there yet. ask for ladies' private details in your letters. ask for a phone number. if agency doesn't give it to you, tell site support.
G
I have been around and around with these questions as have several other forum members.
Firstly if you see that a woman has very few letters written to her in her stats don't assume she is a blushing newcomer. It is probably because she is using an mail.ru or yandex.ru account. Probably from work. She is contacting through Fiance and then transfering to alternative email.
Sometimes they have computers in the house but a typical type of internet connection is using a cellphone as a modem and buying a phone card. So sometimes you will be talking to somebody and they will say "oh my card is running out". They mean their phone card.
Often the ladies have to go to an internet cafe. For us it is nothing but for them it is quite expensive so if you are communicating that way make allowances for this. It means they might not be able to respond as quickly as they would like to.
Agencies are not a bad thing. They can be very helpful and we shouldn't jump to conclusions about them. They do not really, make any money by the writing of letters it is in other ways.
If it is a real agency they are not going to give the ladies a hard time because they are the 'inventory'. They need the ladies not drive them away by charging too much money if any at all.
Agencies are all different and I can best speak about the main one I am dealing with. This one does not charge ladies anything. In my own case I go for a 10 day tour. So the money includes apartment, pickup/dropoff at the airport, an interpreter for 5 days included and even a cellphone. It is an investment for them.
You know how I found them??
A friend recommended them to me. I shall recomend them in turn. They don't need to rip anybody off or charge the girls anything. This is good business.
AND
If I meet someone and go back to visit her again and again guess who I am going to go to for all my needs? Yes them again and again and again. We are talking about all kinds of fees. Apartment rental, flowers, interpreter, English lessons, driving lessons etc etc.
Any agency that is charging oodles of money for letter translation, delivery etc is suspect.
Just as Olga says the agency should be a sort of clearing center, internet cafe and social center for the ladies. A central point of contact for so many things. Freebird can speak about this at length after a trip to Kiev I think it was.
Don't be put off if a girl wants to contact you through an agency, give them a chance. Likewise with English skills.
It Would be such a shame if you passed by the woman of your dreams because she was writing through an agency and relying on their free translation service?
So if I were you I would be open to everything.
I kept shutting myself down in different areas and each time I found that I was wrong. Now I try to be open and not discount anything.
The reason there are 2 profiles for the same girl is because Fiance is a sort of brokerage.
A girl really wants to find a guy so she goes to 3 or 4 agencies in the same town. Registers with all of them. A couple of them cut a deal with Fiance and their catalog is uploaded to Fiance's database. Then you see that girl several times in Fiance sometimes even with different pictures.
Please don't do what I did. I stopped a relationship with a nice girl because of 2 profiles. It was not her fault and I was too inexperienced. The real problem was that a 2nd agency wrote to me on that woman's behalf as if she didn't know me. I had already been talking to her for a month!! I had sent her flowers and even called her. It was a shock and I ended it.
If that happens to you don't do what I did just question it. I was an asshole don't you do the same.
The geographical question is an obvious one. I really wish you good luck Guitarman. When you pick one lady in one city and just focus on her with a view to just visiting her you will need all the luck you can get.
Pick a lady that you like. Then choose other women that also live in that same city. Focus on the one but also write to the others. Then go there to visit. Try to also find an agency in that city that can be your fallback. They can usually help with any needs you might have also. Good luck man. Good luck to all of us.
Thanks Olga, and Izi especially for the comprehensive reply! My apologies for reinventing an old topic.
I don't like to miss an opportunity so I will start to use agency emails as well. There are far fewer girls with private email it would appear from their profiles. Although it maybe says something about the resourcefulness of those ladies that have managed to get private addresses?
Is there a vaid reason why a Russian girl would have a "@gmail.com" address? Doesn't sound very FSU to me.. more likely a scam?
Surely membership must be a key revenue stream to fiance? I understood 99% of members never get beyond their keyboard so where else are fiance making money?
Guitarman,
My lady has just switched from yandex.ru to Gmail. She says it allows her to make
“attractive letters”. She wanted to use Incredimail but could not get it to work with her .ru account, as soon as she switched to Gmail I started receiving letters with colored background, headers, and emoticons throughout the letter.
well my lady uses hotmail.ru when i first started to write i use the agency that she was with but as time went along we started to use just our email address since she can read and write english but when we did the agency got very angry with her and ask alot og questions as to why she wanted to stop using the agency and they even sent me letters that she didnt write needless to say they were upset when she stop using them but it was good to get started out with
Bill
That is funny. Women they are the sweetest creatures aren't they? Only a woman or possibly Richard Simmons would switch email accounts to get backgrounds :))
Izi,
Thats not the half of it, her and my mother exchanged e-mails and when Lena saw the back ground colors and emoticons she had to have that service also. The first problem was that incredimail doesn't support Russian or Ukrainian languages so she had to try and figure it out in English. After almost a week of trying she determined that her Russian e-mail account would not support incredimail so her and my mother came up with the idea to switch to Gmail and they support both Russian and Ukrainian languanges. It took her another week to get everything working properly. Personally I just care about the content, I will admit that she does create some amusing letters though. It does make me think that I have found a jewel here. If she decides that she wants to do something for somebody she is relentless, she will not quit until she is successful.
The personal email doesn't work well for a lot of the ladies. You end up not really being able to communicate because of the language barrier. It's better to use the site unless the lady is really good at English. That way you at least get a reasonable translation and you can have a real exchange. Otherwise, you can't really learn what you need to know about her and she probably doesn't really understand what you are writing to her.
That's true Soccerdad but personally I like trying to decipher the back to front quaint use of English rather than read an interpreter's translation. I have found if you really try to puzzle it out and use your imagination you can generally figure what they are trying to say. Its what you would have to do if just the two of you were talking which is the way I'd like it to be when I go visit...
I've had an email back from her gmail address anyway and she seems to be on the level. (New photo as well, warts and all) Had no colored backgrounds, headers or emoticons though wmferg, think I'll have to ask for some of those ;-)
guitarman,
I am sure it is incredimail that has all the "attractive" things for e-mail. Lena uses Gmail because that will support incredimail and her .ru service would not.
Back to the topic, here are 2 example of why I am highly suspicious of agencies:-
First
-----
Olga says (above) "ladies paid membership to use agency service anyway. so you are missing some opportunities for sure "
But I am told 2 days ago, supposedly by a lady (but frankly I don't know)...
"But as much as I am grateful to you for giving me your personal address, I have to say that it is much more convenient for me to write to you through this service. It is totally free for me, besides, the agency is going to help me with translating my letters to you, since my English is not so good yet.."
So here we have totally opposing views (and an example of conflict of interest).
Second
------
I recently received an email supposedly from a girl 23 years my junior whose picture, the same picture as in her profile, I have just noticed is featured in an ad on the home page of the fiance web site.
"She" says she has seen my profile and likes it. Eh? Do you think I just got off the boat?
This is why I have an uncomfortable feeling writing through a agency.. you just don't know who you are talking to..
gutarman,
As Izi mentioned in his post above, all agencies are different. Some do not charge the ladies anything for the services. I personaly know that one of the agencies in Mariupol conducts business this way. If a lady can have her letters translated and sent for free why would she go to an Internet cafe and pay out of her pocket. There is a lot of good information on these posts but, although there are some success stories much of what is said here is cautionary in nature. The challenge is not to find yourself jumping at shadows, it is very easy to do I have found myself falling into this trap occasionaly. I think Izi mention his case above.
