According to the International Organization for Migration, all mail-order-bride agencies with women from the republics of the former Soviet Union are under the control of organized crime networks. Many of these agencies operate on the Internet. Recruiters use "marriage agencies" as a way to contact women who are eager to travel or emigrate. This route into the sex industry can take several forms. The recruiters may be traffickers or work directly with traffickers. The woman may meet with a man who promises marriage at a later date. The man may use the woman himself for a short period of time, then coerce her into making pornography and later sell her to the sex industry, or he may directly deliver the woman to a brothel. Some traffickers use the woman’s legal documents and tourist visas to legally enter the destination countries. The women may be put on a circuit by pimps in which they are moved from country to country on legal tourist visas or entertainers’ visas. Other times, the woman is given false documents. In this case, the woman is even more vulnerable after she arrives in the destination country because she is there illegally. It was just to give people a better understanding of things that many of us have taken for granted. I can only hope that the men on here are as honorable as possible. I thought this knowledge would give men on here a moment to reflect on how delicate this whole business is and what many of these women risk by hooking up with us guys. In Vitebsk only one agency was not "clear". I talked to the officer in charge for this investigation, he was just bored of this "crime fighting". he told that prostitutes are recruited in absolutely other circles of women. By the way it turned out that most model agencies' heads were put into prison for traffiking in Belarus. I tell just facts. I can say that in around 2 years of my agency existence there was not a single attempt from the criminals to interfere in this business while when I've been running several shops such attempts were very frequent and almost every business owner had to pay for this "defence". So you know I chose this business because it is much less nervous, I wouldn't work with this f...n bandits any longer, it makes you feel very humiliated even if it is not too risky. It is a hard question. This country's independent economy like in Russia, Ukraine and all the other FSU began like this. How do you think where all the luxory in Moscow appear? In the 90th half of the country were trading, up to 10% were "defending" them", now it is not so wide as it was 10 years ago. The illegal profits were legalized, allowed former gang leaders to build casinos, restaurants, buy factories and plants and so on. I don't know the way to fight the rackets. The police won't be able to do anything as they are never threatening you directly. NEVER! A couple of bold headed guys in leather come up to you from a black MB and tell that they have dreamed all of their life to be your friends(lterally), that they are ready to help you and defend you. Noone talks of money at this stage, if you already have "friends" you give their phone number to the guys and it is their problem already. But if you have no, this is your problem. You may reject but who know what will happen to you or your shop next time? Probably nothing but who wants to live under threat? To be fair I must say that such thing now is not so widely spreaded as before. It covers only very small street shops and illegal business, sch as black currency market, prostitutes and so on.
